Ahahahaha! Yup, I remember the repel tower fucking vividly. I had a deathly fear of heights and my señor drill instructor knew that shit early on because I had trouble getting past the double bars during the obstacle course. So when our platoon did the repel tower, he made me do the one without the wall... 5 fucking times. I wanted to cry so badly. Good times though, LOL. Golf co. 2nd battalion. Plt. 2077- boger platoon. Semper Fidelis, everybody!
Yeah mate, don't think about it, don't think about the heights and let it get into your head, just have the mindset "I'm going to smash this and get it done" you're not gonna be comfortable but just do it, deep breath and forced mindset
Just try to stay calm, and pray that you get to go down the side with the wall. I had to do the straight drop and it scared the 💩 outta me, not even gonna lie. I have an extreme fear of heights and I still made it. You literally can’t fall, even if you pass out mid-rappel your DIs can safely lower you to the ground.
What do they do with their rifles ? Thru them down first . Do it with steel pot and liner . Nice new braided rope ,in 62 it was old rough Manila line . Does FMF still do wet net landing?
You would not do anything that would bring shame to you, your platoon, or your Drill Instructors. Parris Island has a way of making you set aside all your pre-conceived notions of life and fears (to some extent). Listen to what you’re told and obey to the word. You’ll be just fine, Son. Semper Fi.
No, everyone has their fears, you join the marine corps to be molded and made fearless. It’s ok to be afraid at first but you will overcome these fears with the help of the corps, determination, and willingness
My partner is braking down he said hes not working next house i think hes afraid of all steep. I know fear when i see it. I dont blame him is supost to snow. Ill be working from cherry picker. I know his not ready for this type of house.
I do remember how I did this on 5th grade and I overreacted because I'm afraid of heights. Instructor and some soldier almost got irritated to us 😅😅 but when I do the on set pose and jumped down, like WOW! I love the feeling and wanna do it again! But teachers told us just one try is enough 🙄🙄 pissed.. Now I'm in my motherhood and telling my kids my own stories way back in school years, like how I wanna try again this kind of unforgettable memories and experiences. 😍😍😍

Honestly, practice. Sign up for a zip lining class, do a high ropes course, conquer it.
My dad is a Marine corps D.I. and he would say don't be a bitch about it

Didn’t even remember this comment.. well I’m not in the marines.. I joined the army but I made it through basic and I did 3 jumps on the repel tower.

Join the miltary to tap that warning you might not make it back alive ...you might not even pass thr training to get you prize..
Try doing this after it rains and your ass flips upside down... a friend
wow, they get helmets now? we didn't have that shit in 1992.
Right! I did it 1980 and we did the helo jump with no wall and a face first dive with one snap of the rope then land on your feet.
So what if they have helmets now. What point are you trying to make?
3:51 YERRRR
I remember the instructor who is speaking from when I did this.
I made those jumps in one snap and bounce have no clue why they are walking like old ladies down that wall.
True, I remember it with jumps instead of walking and no helmets also. The one without the wall is called the hell hole for those that are wandering!

to any marine, what is the rappel tower like?
You're a little nervous but you'll know you'll be alright
Trying to get over the ledge is hard, other than that it'll get easy

I'm afraid of heights, but it's my dream to become a Marine. semper Fi oorah
I am also afraid of heights. I think if you are afraid of heights, you are not able to become a marine.

Marine Lance corporal Hurst so are you a marine or aren't you?
Fear is not in my vocabulary. If it was it would be like this : Definition of Fear: Fear is afraid of Peter.
Is this required? I heard it’s not apart of the confidence course-
I love being high up
Do y’all remember how tall the tower was in 2009?
Do you both the wall side and no wall?

Not an option for the airforce
