You don't buy a OnePlus phone from China, you just buy one at any store in the US. Buying a Xiaomi or Huawei phone basically means importing it from China. OnePlus sells phones for the US market. Huawei and Xiaomi don't.

I have a Xiaomi Mi A1: Headphone jack, Android One (No bloatware), best specs for the price range, English out of the box... For no more than 200$.
I have a Redmi 5 Plus. Bought for 160$, Global Version out of the box so 0 bloatware (only weather app, music player and IR blaster app all necessary, comes with playstore). For 160$ I got 4,000maH battery that gives 4 day on a charge and 8-10 hour screen on time, 21:9 display with small bezels. Great camera even compatible with Pixel's camera app to give the same results if you need, dual tone flash at the back and even a flash for the front camera, IR blaster, Great specs and 4GB Ram, 0 lag and plays every game and app as well as any expensive phone on them market right now. Meanwhile Linus "Why buy a Chinese phone", You get a shitty Samsung J7 for this price. OMEGALUL.

121 Gado because the real money is on software and the information you can gather from it, not the hardware. That’s why Samsung wants to improve and push its apps while hardware is still relevant in order to brace themselves for the future. Also, though highly unlikely, what happened to Huawei can happen to any non American brand, Samsung saw the danger in its dependency from Google and is doing all it can to get rid of it.

Zheng Zack I don't think so, there are various mistakes, in the beginning he says he first got the Chinese version and later the English version, but even in the Chinese version you can also always pick English as system language, it's not just only in Chinese - so he must be referring to that he later got the Global version. Also in the video it shows that he has the Play Store on the phone (and he is not saying it was missing, and he installed it) that's only included in the Global version. In the video I also don't see all the Chinese bloatware that usually is included, so he must be using it with the Global ROM and in that double tap power to start camera is possible in the settings.

It is so simple to get permission to unlock the bootloader and flash another MIUI variation, with less or no bloatware, or any other custom rom.
I'm sure he is well acquainted with those methods as well. It sounds like he ran into some issue when trying to do this that is not normal.
Not simple xiaomi has implemented compulsory wait time of up to 260hours before you can unlock.

Watching this on my Mi Mix 1 6/256, almost for 2 years now and it still turn heads. It could be mistaken as a note 10 and im happy and super proud of it. That ceramic unibody with edge to edge super immersive screen is hard not to gaze onto.

Yep. Even MIUI isn't that bad, I used it for months and honestly, it's one of the smoothest ROM's I have used, especially if you flash XIaomi.eu instead of the Global ROM.

This kiddo is a parent. Lord. Well have fun paying for all that expensive "flag ship" tech for them after you have trashed all the actual good options out there. Gonna have some spoiled entitled kids..
The reasons that have kept me stuck with MIUI and never go back to any other version of Android are:
1. Out of the box call recording that also records calls received on Bluetooth.
2. Theming.
3. Security app that can disallow any app from using WiFi or Mobile data. Useful to get rid of ads for offline apps and being safe from extra billing.
4. Option to block all messages from strangers (numbers not in my contact list)
5. Option to block calls from strangers.
6. Second space.
7. Decent software updates.
8. You can login to second space simply by entering the pattern to second space or using another finger.. so others would never know you had two spaces at the first place.
9. Frequent phrases (in the 'paste' menu)
10. You can remove 95% of the bloat by simply uninstalling them.
And many more that I have forgotten.
I am a Hangouts user and I did have annoyance with the issue he mentioned but I simply disabled pop up notifications and that works pretty well so far.
I used to be a die hard fan of vanilla Android butt the peace brought to my life because of no spam SMS messages is something I cannot give up.
I too used to be a diehard fan for stock android but after getting the Poco F1, I'm in love with MIUI. It reminded me of the cyanogen experience I had in Oneplus One with the customization and many more.
I'm not a big fan of Miui, but it takes less than a minute to go on Google Play and install Microsoft Launcher. Then these phones become good for me, while keeping all of the features you mentioned.
People are seriously biased against MIUI without even trying it. Its days of being an iOS clone are long gone (and even then it was great looking and had useful features). It's fast, very polished in terms of design and hastons of features stock Android will never have. Ads? I've never seen one. Yes, it has some annoyances like the notification system is inferior to stock Android but it's not that much worse and MIUI 10 improves it a bit. If you don't like iOS style launcher, just grab the Poco launcher. I mean, MIUI has evolved so much it's unfair to dismiss it as just an ugly bloated Chinese Android skin.

I paid $150 for it and I love it. The only downside is the camera, but even tho I dont use it much its ok. In good light it makes decent 4k photos.
And the battery lasts 2-4 days for me. Awesome!

You should see MIUI 10! The buttons are gone. It's gesture based navigation ala iPhone. You didn't mention the Xiaomi AI based battery saver which controls background applications. Also, the new MIUI 10 includes AI based photo processing.

Xiaomi ran a poll on their Twitter as to which their users preferred, MiUI or Android One. And Android One won by a landslide. Needless to say the phone they made with Android One didn't have all these little annoyances, but there are some people out there who definitely love MiUI.

Although I prefer stock android more because the settings are more minimal and there are fewer software gimmicks in between you and getting what you want done.

DrekiTech actually the poll is in the international English forum, hence those ppl who use android are usually non iPhone for one reason or another, hence they will choose stock android, but if you put the poll in a China forum which whole population is more than enough for their consumption, the ppl there are used to iOS style look at Huawei and Oppo.
Bearing in mind their main market are in China, Caucasian countries and SEA countries are their secondary markets, hence they didn’t bother to develop another version for these and just slap a stock android phones.
So you have to see the target audiences when you review a phone but keyboard warriors oh well 😔

Dude, what era are you living in???? No Physical Button to launch the Cam App???? Which phone in today's time has it??? (out of the box). Do enlighten me. And thanks to MIUI, you can easily assign the Volume Button to launch that app.
And i am a big fan of MIUI because i still get updates for my 3 n half year old Mi3. No manufacturer supports their phone for such a long time with OTA updates.

Stock Android (at least on my Nexus 5X) has double tap power button to launch camera, iOS 12 will support the iPhone 5S, a 5 year old phone.

Why was there a phone hardware intro at 0:30 and another at 2:10 ?? Are they separate phones?
I flashed miui eu onto my Mi Max 3 (the bootloader was already unlocked by the seller for the installation of the English ROM) and most of the bloatware is gone, but the lack of exceptions for DND mode is still a bummer for me. I also switched to the Microsoft Launcher as I've been using it on my previous phone so no more moving unwanted stuff to a dummy folder. The reason I specifically picked a Xiaomi phone is because of its ability to run split screen without suspending one of the apps (try running a game one on one half then do something else on the other - the game would be suspended on most phones I've owned in the past). If any phone from another manufacturer comes with this feature I'd like to hear about it.

So...there is this thing called xiaomi.eu that has a rom with no bloatware.(back when i had the Mi-4c they even added 4k capability to it, while xiaomi didn't). That removes a quarter of your video. Also, weekly updates. No other brand gives you the possibility to have that...
Then, regarding the "hard button for launching the camera" xiaomi uses double tap the unlock button to do that. It's in the settings. They kept this feature even on my A1 which doesn't have MIUI.

MIUI is actually very good, I haven't had any problems like you mentioned in 3 years that I used it. Maybe the software wasn't perfected for Mi Mix 2S which is their new phone. Otherwise, the aesthetics, speed, and some other things are done better by MIUI than anyone. Also, I just switched to OnePlus 6 from Mi Mix 2, and I still don't think MIUI was worse, apart from a few quirks that didn't affect the experience.
The aesthetics of MIUI are appaling to me... but then again, it's all subjective. I have a OnePlus 5T, while my gf has a Xiaomi, and while xiaomi is much more useful in China because China, i find the OP way of adding features while keeping to the stock android look and feel a lot better.
You can change most things about the aesthetics, in the Theme store, there are plenty of themes that make it look like stock Android. Icons, notification bar, icons in notification bar, brightness slider, volume slider, everything can be customized to look like stock Android, or anything. Also, MIUI 10 looks stunning, without needing someone to be biased towards it (Just check out their notification shade and brightness, vertical volume slider)

Nah, Linus is right. MIUI is crap, I'm also using it for 3 years and their forum is filled with complaints from international users. MIUI is nothing more than Android Jelly Bean but it get new skin every year. It feels like they're trying to change it with their Global ROM but for example EMUI is still miles ahead.
I think it's a regional thing. I've noticed foreigners don't mind all these AsianUI. It might just be what were used to and there's nothing wrong with that. But in the States we tend to appreciate software and security updates. The only way to enjoy Android as it's meant to is to have it directly from Google. That's why the only Xiaomi phone I will buy is the MiA1 .
software has gotten soooo much better, i love my mi mix 2s, it has lasted incredibly well, the camera holds up and i am always impressed by the amount of support and updates it gets

Xiaomi mostly makes revenue from apps, they sell cheap hardware and then load it with software to get you to use their playstore etc. and make the lost profits from selling hardware at such low prices from that. Its a great business model in china since google play is blocked there without the use of a VPN, so they fill in as a subsitute for google play with their own playstore and make lots of money from those.

Do you consider the Chinese/international version of the OnePlus 7 pro a Chinese phone? All packaging is in Chinese but it setup in English easily.
MIUI notifications can be fixed in software, it's a toggle in the power management settings.

Those notification issues are fixable from settings...tbh I've used MIUI for almost a year on my Max 3, better than stock Android for most things.

I got the Xiaomi Mi6 last year (a few days after it was released) and I admit that the first few weeks using the Chinese Rom with bloatware was very confusing. But after I installed the Global firmware, it was a big relief and good to go.
I understand that people seriously want it first on their hands but it's better to wait until the Global firmware is available.
You should load the twiwan rom to get english,there is no support and parts are difficult to find.the spyware cant be removed...best to buy a spainish cheap phone

I'm actually a really long time Miui user. (Android 2.2) I went from a nexus to a mi mix because stock android just didn't have all the features I wanted. Recording calls, exluding apps from the "kill all tasks" button so a random music app keeps playing when you press it, hidden messages, media and documents, qr code wifi sharing and better home screen management tools. All things a stock Xiaomi has. I also found their stock apps to be more complete. (Galary has a build in photo editor since ages, calculator can also convert, timed messages) all small things but you get to miss them when their not around. Unlocking my bootloader took only 15m btw.
Every app Xiaomi have in standard you can download from Google Play
sadly i guess most people don't even bother looking at the features of miui they just turn on the device and because they can't use it properly or can't see all features in the right in the first screen they say its bad.
