Summary:
It's been more than a year when Manipur Conflict was started . But both union and state government has been unable to end such a voilence till now. It had imposed Article 355 in the state without any officially announcement. Even Mr. Modi is indifferent to this situation. The only way to stop this ethnic conflict is to disarm the antisocial militias . Also, Civil society actors should need to work out the modalities of bringing back normalities.
Manipur has been burning in the fire of ethnic violence and conflicts among various communities for more than a year . Till now, many people have lost their lives while hundreds of people have been displaced from their homes. Union Government seemed to be less serious in trying to find a way for altering the status quo. One of the main reasons behind the persistent violence in the valley and hilly areas is the increasing number of militias who have equipped themselves with weapons by looting the constabularies.
Manipur has been suffering from a massive turmoil since last year. According to official report as of now 221 people have died and almost 50,000 people were left their home. Day by day the turmoil situations are increasing and the riot is spreading out . Illicit activities like extortion and abdication are also there. Union govt. take action to helm the situation but it was failed to helm it. On the other hand our PM Oversight the whole situation. However home minister called up security briefings ,but to little avail. The situation may exacerbate due to the lack of helm. So civil social actors should awar people and govt should take strict step to eradicate militas' power.

The conflict raised between the meitei and kuki communities years ago, due to the factors like land reasources and development opportunities has now spread to jiribam district and imphal valley. The actions taken by the government is similar to a drop in the ocean which only furthering the ethnic divide.

The Union Government's indecisive vacillation & PM Modi's inactive engagement as well as state government inability to effectively handle the situation have resulted in more support to Congress from electorate of Manipur in general election.
Mare change of leadership will not change the status quo of Manipur. It requires deep systemic change including disarmament of armed militias, engagement of civil society actor as well as participation of newly elected MP for peacekeeping.
Manipur has been suffering from conflict but our government has not taken any action against militias. And some times before somthing happened there with two ladies. And the most reason behind that because government has not focused on the state's situation. I think government needs to focus and protect the state and their people.thanku

The union government's indecisive actions and state government's inability rises above its ethnic biases and this persistence of status quo is doing little to resolve the conflict and is only worsening the situation. So, there is a strong need for taking prompt actions to curb the antisocial militias and disarm them in both the valley and hilly areas to bring normalcy in the state. This can be done by cooperation of both union and state governments with the help of parliamentarians and representatives of neighbouring states in bringing about the reconciliation between the hostile ethnic groups.

The editor here is calling for a joint effort of new parliamentarians in and around Manipur and other civil society reformers, so that this conflicting situation which has claimed lives of hundreds of people and displaced lakhs, can cease the burning fire in the minds of the armed militias. The Chief Minister's one sided favour for a particular community and the union government's indecisiveness are proving to be dreadful for the north eastern state's situation. The conflict has now spread to less conflict prone areas like the Imphal valley and Jiribam. The foremost task is to disarm the violent militias.

The situation in Manipur is getting worse, the reason behind that not only the millitant in Manipur but also the groups from Myanmar who were expelled by the Myanmar govt entered illegely and trying to excerbate the situation by providing drugs and making catal with the regional people not to settle peace in the state. May be there were some international hands. However the govt should also try to take some strict action and put some oil in the water.
