  • The Knave is a dramatic pinnacle on the cliffed coastline of West Gower in South Wales - surrounded by geological and human historical detail. One of Gower's major cave system's is located there and was filmed for the 1st time for this video. This is both an educational and general interest video for anyone interested in the Gower and also caves and caving.
erratum - Pliocene is 3.5 million yrs, not 2.5 m.y. as stated incorrectly in the geology section of the video. oops.

ogof ffynnon wyntog! iv been wanting to get in there for over 12 years visited over 20 times but it was always sumped, i got interested in caving when i was around 13 and living in the sawnsea/gower area leared caving without instruction visited almost all the caves on the gower i read about in "caves of the south gower coast","caves of the gower", "three bellow gower" and "caves of south wales" starting with easy ones like pavaland, cathole cave and bacon hole but i was looking for something a bit longer/ more challenging that also was not 1)gated or 2) required more than the 1 10m ladder i had( that was in not the best condition and like the rest of my equipment at least 30 years old) after my first attempt when i failed to find entrance to wyntog i visited often sometimes dragging friend and family along with me before taking them to places a bit more challenging like little neath and various caves in the black mountain area for a bit of practice. anyway its great to see actual video of ogof ffynnon wyntog hopefully ill one day get to visit myself there and also lethrid swallet(never managed to get in there either) iv always thought there is a lot of potentlual cave on the gower yet to be discovered and if i still lived near by id be out digging as often as i could.
