@@piochin23 actually it's not a stupid question I used to build ( now repairing) pallets and certain pallets can't go on the ground like pallets that r used for food so instead of taking a stack and putting it on the ground and then grab the stack thats on a pallet it's just faster to grab the stack and load it so yes some pallets can be shipped with a pallet on the bottom it just ur pallet company u work for they r just to cheap to give 24 free pallets away
I worked at Peco Pallets. The guys repaired the ones that needed it. Then they got painted. Repair guys made $15 base. With production incentives they could make up to $22 an hour. I was happy making $16 to load trucks. Pallets weighed 62 pounds apiece. Guys had back problems Shoulders rotator cuff etc.

I’ve worked in a pallet factory and there are machines doing this work but they aren’t always as productive as two experienced and well coordinated people, plus they still need at least one operator and ongoing maintenance. Problem is finding people fit enough to do this 8 - 12 hours a day for relatively low pay.
With all of our current automation technology, like on 'How It's Made', why are jobs like this still requiring manual labour to manufacture a wooden pallet?

Guns are not for production. No where near as fast or as good at making pallets. These pallets are made with substandard nails. Wire is .083 or .099 not machine grade .115 or .120 in diameter. Gun nails have poor threads or rings so they are easier to drive. Holding power is next to nothing and the steel in the nails is lower grade allowing them to bend easier and make shiners. And the clincher (no pun) is that these nails cost twice that of loose nails. That alone will pay for a real nailing machine.
I would love hard workers like that💪🏽💯😊, awesome team !!
