I passed through Eatsern washington several years back and talking with several residents in town of next to Central ferry and palouse falls, just before the time and during time Washington state parks were closing parks in that area, Parks sent 2 or 3 people from Olympia to inventory the area, a Historian a helper and some other stiff archolgist . Those people i spoke with said those 3 or 4 guys stole all kinds of Indian artifacts for themselves, NOT given to parks. Those 4 remained at parks until they retired with good pay. Find out later lot of that stuff ended up on ebay. Tomahawks, Spears, arrowheads, pottery, arrows, shields, drums.. Typical of state emoloyees with No accountablity
That relic patented 1880 looks like an old tent stake, probably brass or something. Sweet find!
so the 1880 item is to adjust the tension on the tent tie-down rope. the rope would go through the tub and then down to the stake and then pushed through the hole and then have a knot tied in it hold the rope in place. then you would slide it up or down the rope to adjust the tension to hold up the tent.

What area of WA are you finding this stuff at? Got some sweet finds. I also find arrowheads and stuff where I live in WA. Even have found petrified bones as well.
