  • This project, and the short video series to follow, is a follow up to my Porsche 914 Upgrade Project video number 31 - Hacking the Fuel Gauge.
Back in February I soldered up an ESP32 microcontroller-based breadboard to drive the car's analog fuel gauge pointer to reflect the state of charge of my battery pack, and also light up the low fuel light when the charge gets to a low level. My long-term goal is to make a real circuit board for it, while also expanding the functionality to make it useful to others in the EV conversion world, with a wide variety of target vehicles and components.

Ideas are the beginning points of all fortunes.

Good job! FYI you want the WiFi-antenna all the way at the edge of the PCB and the groundplane removed under it. Putting a hole in the groundplane in the middle of the board is not going to give you very good RF-performance.

Excellent, thanks for the tip! I'll fix that for version 0.2!

I use Fusion (the paid version) for designing speakers, and I've delved into its electronics workspace but was overwhelmed! So I use the design space to create 3D renderings of boards (so I can build a box for them), but I haven't used the electronics workspace *for real* because it just looks too overwhelming, especially the libraries. But, since you've done it, now I have to! เก่งมาก!

It is a bit overwhelming at first and you have to go with the way they designed it to work and not fight it. Luckily the core functions well and you can learn new features as you go along. Do you know Jeff Levison? He's a speaker designer too and lives in Hua Hin. facebook.com/jeff.levison.5

@@MikesTropicalTechI just reached out to him! Another speaker nerd in Hua Hin! Too good to be true.
