We all start somewhere, practice does help, but it hasn't made me perfect ... yet. I've been soldering pins to a few ESP32-S3 boards lately and didn't want to mess up, so I used a flux pen on pins and the boards. Used small diameter solder that has flux core, made sure the iron's tip is clean and well tinned and so far, so good on those. I did mess up a small prototype board with a 2x15 1.27mm pitch female connector though, just yesterday. I can't even see the small stuff and have to use my magnifier with it. We all make mistakes, unless we're getting paid to do it perfect. In that case, practice, practice ... then practice more.
