What a day, hope Plaisier makes the top 64, he deserves to keep that money. If he can win the Challenge Tour I think that Grand Slam spot may be the golden ticket.

I commented yesterday about Jose’s health problems leading to poor form but fingers crossed today is the start of a return to form, even if he can find 90+ avg consistently he’ll start moving upwards

That Wesley Plaisier has a chance of having to start from zero, despite having so many fewer chances for ranking money than plenty above him, shows up that there is something wrong with the way the rankings are constructed.
Matt, I'd like to hear your thoughts about the lighting at todays tournament which produced shadows on the boards, particularly bad was the one used for the Smith/Noppert semi and Rock/Plaisier final.

Aspinall in trouble re Players Champs….but he is a stage player and form is good, as he is still recovering.
Barry has qualified via development tour but would like him to finish in Pro tour qualification anyway, William O'Connor picked up two wins today, should see him through to world's and PC Finals
Rafferty would get his spot which I hope will happen

The Jose/Humphries match was incredible. Luke hits a 180 to get down to 48 for the win. Jose hits a 180 to get down to 81. Then Luke misses and busts going for double 8. Jose misses treble 19, hits treble 12 and then hits double 13 for the win!

Would love to see him doing a big run in either the PC Finals or the World Championship at the end of this year. Would be really good if he could have a Tour Card by being in the top 64 so he would keep his ranking money from 2024 in his OoM.

I’d be bummed if Steve Beaton doesn’t get a World Championship farewell.
Another big concern for Cullen is that he desperately needs wins in the last few events to just defend his Euro Tour seeding for the first 4 ET of 2025. We know he's not a fan of playing qualifiers so his consecutive European record is under threat.
i thought that there will be one card more in the q school when beaton gives back his card, not that the card will get to number 65.

The rankings are plainly wrong. If the likes of Nijman, Scutt and Plaisier regularly win these events they should automatically gain a tour card. Just goes to show the strength in depth of PDC darts.
Nijman actually has a card
The ranking system only benefits the top players and I hate it. Players like Smith, Aspinall, Van Den Bergh, Wright, Cullen, Dolan, etc have been in poor form for ages, but stay high in the rankings due to TV wins holding so much more weight over floor wins. It's too difficult for solid players like Plaisier to break into the top unless they go absolutely crazy like Littler did

@@Joe-ye5mc Nijman won his tour card by finishing third on the Development Tour of 2023. Van Veen in first, already had a tour card, and was qualified for the WC via the Pro Tour, so the WC spots, and initially the cards, were to go to Nijman and Littler who finished in 2nd, but because Littler broke within the top 64 at the conclusion of the 2024 WC, the other tour card won on the DT went to Nathan Rafferty instead.

At current odds, I'd prefer to invest on Nijman for Ally Pally than anyone else.

What is going on with Joe Cullen. A disastrous season. Like consistently getting knocked out first round all year. Such an extreme drop off.
Imagine making 3 finals in 1 year despite not even having a card. Got to be guaranteed one next year by now. Be good to see how he gets on.

Can someone please Tell me why Wesley is Not in the Grand Slam After his Pro Tour Win? Connor Scutt is in After His win, I believe
You don't automatically qualify after a pro tour win and Scutt isn't qualified yet. Scutt is currently leading the challenge tour order of merit and it he maintains that lead he qualifies for Grand Slam.

If Christian Kist draws Plaisier in the first round of the World Championship, he should lose in order to make Plaisier reach Top 64 and earn a Tour Card himself

One sniff of Kist throwing a game at Ally Pally and he'd be having a longer holiday than the 2-&-a-half years Wessel Nijman got.
Anyway, if Big Wesley can pull back the £50 deficit on Connor Scutt at the top of the Challenge Tour rankings, he'll be in the Grand Slam. You'd think he might earn enough in the last pair of PCs in Leicester in two weeks, at the Grand Slam and in the Minehead PC finals to have secured a top-64 place by then... But he won't need a top-64 place if he holds on to 2nd spot on the Challenge Tour money list, as the top two get cards for 2025 and 2026.
@@countbasiethebicyclemessen4321 it's a big advantage for him if he gets into the top-64, because he keeps this money and when he only gets his card by getting top-two Challenge Tour, he has to start on zero next year.
Is that the first time a non tour card holder has won a Pro Tour since Tour Cards became a thing?
Krzysztof Ratajski, Joe Murnan and Scott Williams already did this. He is the fourth.
Think Scott Williams won one in 2022 when he was on the challenge tour

Van dongen just needs to give up the card. Not nearly good enough to contend for a title, give it up and hopefully go to a better prospect
