  • This story is from Sambhava Parva in Adi Parva.
It tells the tale of how Pandu gives Kunti different instances from history so as to convince her to beget offsprings out of marriage.
We can see how Pandu tells the tale of Shwetaketu( the son of Uddalaka ) establishing the rule of faithfulness to a single husband in a relationship. To think of it , in this present era , that woman went to any man she fancied without being shameful of it , just like birds and animals , seems to be very difficult to digest. But then that was another era , a gone era.
To think of it, in a society which always emphasised on ' no attachments ' whatsoever. Living in a society where the ultimate goal of all was to secure total detachment and thus attain moksha, it is only obvious that men and women lived without any attachment to each other, free like birds and animals. It makes total sense.
