Jamal, watching your reactions, there are those songs that are okay... then there are the ones that truly move you and inspire you. Allmans touch people...Gregg Allman on organ and singing lived the blues most of his life until he got cleaned up... that's what you hear... is those hard times and that need unfulfilled.
Everytime I pick up my guitar Duane is in every note. “I love being alive and I will be the best man I possibly can. I will take love wherever I find it and offer it to everyone who will take it. . . seek knowledge from those wiser and teach those who wish to learn from me. DUANE ALLMAN.
@@perijetton9275 Amen! I owned everything Jimi produced in his lifetime, including bootlegs, but I'd never take from another picker. There's plenty enough room for all the great, and varied, players. I watched a doc on the history of the blues recently. The first recorded example of slide guitar was a fella who used the spine of his knife for a slide. Funny that my first thought was "wonder if Duane knew, ever tried that".
Jamel, looked right from the start you wanted to kick back and sip on some wine or bourbon and just soak in this wonderful rendition of a blues classic. "The eagle flies on Friday, Saturday I go out to play. Sunday I go to church, yeah, and I get down to pray." Wonderful life snapshots! If you enjoyed this tune, try Boz Scaggs' version of "Loan Me a Dime"'; Duane plays in that classic, too. And then there's "Dreams" by the ABB, I think off their 2nd album.
Man, I cannot begin to even explain how much I enjoyed watching you enjoy my very favorite Allman Bros Band tune. You made my day. Thanks Jamel. Peace Out!
THE BEST live album ever, freaking amazing. I'm a 66 year old young lady, lol, and I am so grateful to have grown up when I did. The music was & still is everything to me, have mercy...
This is the first version of this song that I heard back in the 70s. I don't think any other version, even done by the Allmans, compares to it. Glad to see a youngster appreciate it! That's what makes music "classic"!
OMG, this song brings on such an instant chill vibe of the BEST kind! .... one might say, “This is the shit!” LOL... Lovin’ it Jamel! “Lawd! Have mercy!”
The world never recovered, but it kept turning nonetheless. Duane will never be gone - he is infused in almost every guitar player (and many other musicians) since he lit up the world with his blues and slide playing.
From a young age Duane and Gregg listened to the blues and the old greats. They listened over and over cause they wanted to learn and they respect the genre and the older masters. They listened to the current artists as well and blended a lot of genre's together, for a great result. They really worked hard to be able to play at this height at such a young age. We are blessed to have these recordings of the original band. Thanks J, you are my favorite reactor. And a kind man.
In 1971 I found myself in Vietnam. Born and raised in MACON GEORGIA where the ABB recorded at Capricorn Studios. You could see the Brothers and Sisters walking up and down Vineville Ave. from the BIG HOUSE (now a ABB Museum) to the Studios. Could not afford a ride. Long hair, bell bottoms and barefoot! You talk about a cool time to live in Macon. They played around the southeast at small venues and sold albums after shows. Then I got drafted. I tried my best to get them boys over there to listen to me but they just laughed at my drawl. A Sgt. had took my music away from me when I arrived. And then all of a sudden PHILLMORE EAST albums everywhere. NAM went ABB nuts. And I was justifiably vindicated. Yes sir those were the days my friend!! GOD bless you! Love your take on life! A true gentleman and good human! Hope I never miss a single video!! (Macon also has Little Richard and Ottis Reading to claim as sons)
If you take into account the age of The Allman Bros, early mid twenties, this is a remarkable achievement. To play with this level of restraint, sensitivity, and sophistication at any age would be amazing, but to have

Calling Card, Bullfrog Blues, Pistol Slappin' Blues are just a few worth checking out.
Thanks for your reaction! Your reaction makes this song even better than the original! I must say that I was a freshman in a Catholic High School in 1970 and remember listening this band in my bedroom and just jamming to this song and others. I thought I’d died and went to Heaven listening to this music. Now at 67 years old it’s even better! I go to Clearwater Calvary Church and the music and message is incredible. I wish they could play a rendition of this song during Church service. I’m sure it would be incredible and bring us all closer to God.
My very first live rock concert was the Allman Brothers when I was 14 years old. My granny dropped me off at Carowinds for the day (you could do that back then) as long as I took my 3 yr old cousin with me. Shout out to cousin Chad Wallace, what a trooper of a kid. It changed my life. It was hella hot that day and folks were packed like sardines waiting to get in the palladium. People passed me drinks for Cousin Chad propped on my hip. When we finally got in the palladium and the Allman Brothers did their thing, my face stayed in a permanent grin and I was transformed! That music spoke to my DNA! Little Chad slept like a rock laying on the bleachers beside me on a bed of shirts donated for him to get comfy. It was a magical day and I still have the images in my mind. And Chad got himself a nice true story to brag with in later years! ❤😄
I grew up listening to the Allman Brothers and this song, their best and the song's best version ever imho, still sends me over the moon. I really appreciate that you got so into it that you didn't interrupt the flow, Jamel.🥰

Aren't you just blown away when you listen to Allman Brothers Band live at Filmore East? The best live recorded concert of all times. What an honor that it was recorded. 😎✌️♥️
Not only is it Monday but it's storming here too!
Same here
Here in Macon, GA as well. This video made my day, thanks Jamel!
Austin too.
Stormed all day Mon, and still dripping today...
That guy that yells after lord have mercy has cracked me up for years lol
Jamal, watching your reactions, there are those songs that are okay... then there are the ones that truly move you and inspire you. Allmans touch people...Gregg Allman on organ and singing lived the blues most of his life until he got cleaned up... that's what you hear... is those hard times and that need unfulfilled.
The blues: originally _the blue devils,_ is a reference to the hallucinations sometimes seen while in alcohol withdrawal (DTs)
Still my favorite live album of all time
Saw them several times at The Warehouse in New Orleans on New Years Eve. They loved New Orleans and us Delta Women loved them too!
I learned how to play a blues harmonica as a teenager so that I could perform this tune on stage with my buddies rock band.
It warms my heart to see u enjoy the allman bros. 1 of my all time fave bands...
I am a T bone Walker fan, so I have heard the original, and the ABB made this their own, which is what great bands do when they do a cover.
The song that made me want to play guitar. Brother Duane is my guitar hero.
Mine too 🍑🍄☮️♥️
Everytime I pick up my guitar Duane is in every note.
“I love being alive and I will be the best man I possibly can. I will take love wherever I find it and offer it to everyone who will take it. . . seek knowledge from those wiser and teach those who wish to learn from me.
DUANE ALLMAN.
Dig Duane but he cant hag with Jimi! Juss sayin fam. 🤟🏽
@@ogchuk-d2055 if you meant “hang” I completely disagree with you. Jimi thought so too.
REMEMBER Duane ALLMAN! ☮️

Amen!
Lee Michaels also did a phenomenal version of this song in 1969. He’s a legend in the organ.
Man, I cannot begin to even explain how much I enjoyed watching you enjoy my very favorite Allman Bros Band tune. You made my day. Thanks Jamel. Peace Out!
One of the greatest blues versions of all time, on The BEST album ever!
The very best blues band of all time for sure and my brothers and I saw them in concert at least 6 different times back in the day
THE BEST live album ever, freaking amazing.
Dwayne's death was a huge loss, in and of itself. In addition, it seems to me that Gregg never recovered.
The world never recovered, but it kept turning nonetheless. Duane will never be gone - he is infused in almost every guitar player (and many other musicians) since he lit up the world with his blues and slide playing.
Was that Duane?
To play with this level of restraint, sensitivity, and sophistication at any age would be amazing, but to have
one of if not the greatest live performances of all time...... In memory of a few brothers
Love the blues !! I went to college in Macon, GA (the home of The Allman Brothers) and they would come on campus and do free concerts when they weren't on the road. It was a blast ~ Memories !! Thanks Jamel_AKA_Jamal for taking me back in happy times...Love your channel :)
Happy Birthday Sister Drucker. Not only is it Monday but it's actually a stormy Monday here in Tennessee. This is one of the best live albums ever recorded. Once again I am going to push for a reaction to a guitarist who is relatively unknown in America but is a great Blues guitarist from Ireland whose name is Rory Gallagher. Calling Card, Bullfrog Blues, Pistol Slappin' Blues are just a few worth checking out.
Utterly amazing...this is for real blues...going to church, blues....
THIS!!! This is the consummate Allman Brothers Band sound. The original lineup was the band that turned kids on to the blues.
Ah, Jamel! I've been wanting to tell you about this album to put it on your complete album list. It's regarded by many, many people including yours truly, to be the greatest live album of all time. It certainly is the Allman Brother's greatest album. An absolute necessity to be heard. Keep uo the good vibes!
Agreed!!! Another that is just as good IMHO IS Pink Floyd, Pulse Concert. They are both top of the tops, totally different sounds and styles, but both are EPIC!!!!
I had a boyfriend who was a keyboard player in a prog rock band. He played a Hammond organ with a Leslie speaker.....boy ! ...lol....did I ever date myself....😁
Lots of great memories and the best music ever.
Those beasts are *heavy*! Did he convince you to help with lugging them around? Lol
I already commented, but literally, the best live album EVER, love that Jamal appreciates the music I grew up with.
saw the original band perform this at the Fillmore about 4 months after this version ..... just fabulous
