- This was an episode which we’ve been waiting for a while. We talked about Rene his hugely successful career path, his work ethic and a lot more. But the most interesting part was definitely the big rivalry with Laurens at Audi back in 2013, 2014 and 2015. A lot of untold stories got shared today! I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

As a big BMW fan, I can only be glad, that Porsche didn't gave Rene a factory contract, otherwise now he would be racing with Porsche in the LMDh, instead of BMW and WRT switching to BMW and adding him, Dries and snatching Lelo from Mercedes means they have 3 aces for the M Hybrid. And thank you guys for this episode. Really enjoyed it. See you all next year in Le Mans 24. 😊

I was expecting to heard in this podcast the answer to why René was never signed by Porsche as a factory driver and i'm very happy to now know why.
I feel like Porsche really lost a fantastic driver, I will never understand why they never offered him a major role like being a factory driver. BUT at the same time that open the door to Nick Tandy into have *that* major role in Porsche and being one of the greatest Porsche drivers of the last 10 years winning Le Mans 24h overall and Petit Le Mans overall in 2015, Nürburgring 24h overall in 2018 and Spa 24h overall in 2020 and still being a Porsche factory driver.
I think that's one of the things as fans we will never understand in motorsport, why some drivers are rejected and some are accepted (clearly when they are already linked up with some manufacturer but not with official roles like in the case of René)

I would love to see Laurens in DTM again, hopefully after some successful years in the Porsche Penske LMDH program. Definitely looks like something wasn't going well with him and his environment last year as Thomas and Dennis won races, maybe with Manthey he could have a more successful year than his 2022 season.
