This is the most clear and understandable explanation of how to do mosaic damascus I have seen so far. Thank you very much for taking the time to show us.

    No flux between layers??
    Just heat & high pressure
No white out?? Wish I had your press. I love the beauty of the press forming the billet
    Perfect music

What a cool piece of metal art work, have you ever figured out how they made the real deal damascus strong steel with the equipment they had sever hundreds of years ago? I recently just heard about it and wondered if it was the material they used or the technic or process.

Diggin Diggen It thankyou, blade smiths of old had real talent and devotion , no machinery and no metal store to get raw materials from and no UA-cam to find out how to make things it may have took hundreds of years to perfect the process that is true talent .

Amazing video!! And great channel! I have followed you instructions to the T. The only issue I am running into is cutting the billets with my bandsaw. Are you annealing the billets before cutting? Or are you using a carbide blade? Right now I am letting the billets slow cool after the forge weld but it still getting hardened. Thanks in advance for everything!

Hey thanks, I’m just using a high speed steel blade but if you can cut any steel it should be soft enough to cut . The billet is not heat treater yet maybe try cooling it a lot slower. Let me know how it goes

@@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio Thank you for replying! I used a 15n20 and 80crv2 Mix. I think the 80crv2 is hardening when I am Air cooling the billet. Is there a slower way to cool it down?

    • @BonifabcustomRobBonifacio

@@cstacticalknives882 you may have to resort to using a cut off wheel to cut the shape out and carbide to drill holes in it . There are other ways to slow down the cooling process like a special sand that you put it in .

@@BonifabcustomRobBonifacio Thanks again for the reply!! I annealed the billet and was able to cut it up with a band saw like butter. I will definitely have to do this between welds. A lot of lessons learned on this build. Biggest one is my steel selection. 1095 or 1080 will definitely be replacing 80crv2 when I make my next billet. Thanks again for posting these videos. You have a great channel and you make a great teacher. Cheers 🍻
