I used to claim nottley as my home lake and fished it hard for several years, especially in Jan through the first week of May. If. You got a chance to see the cutthroughs down beside the dam ramp I had the biggest striper I have ever dealt with hooked on my boat. My dad got the rod and it was just a short time before he passed so his congestive heart desiese was playing heavily on him. We worked the fish for about 10 minutes and I told dad that other than the hook wallowing out he had this fish. Just guessing and I have caught hundreds of stripers it was between 45 and 60 pounds. Dad was so tired but wouldn't give up the rod and he tried to speed up the fight which led to the ultimate error in striper fishing. He thumbed the spool. I told him not to when he did it the first time but he was stubborn and did it again breaking off the fish of a lifetime. That's a lifetime with several over 30 pounders and one 42 pounder all fresh water. We laughed about it later and I always kidded him about thumbing the spool the short time he was alive after that. To follow up on that the lake record was broken the next spring 57pounds i think. That lake makes monsters!
thats is definitely something else. If you ever want to fish around Nickajack Dam, hit me up. We can fish from my boat, and u can stay at my place instead of hotel.
Man, what a great time you were able to have !! I enjoyed this different style and venue. I had never heard of this lake before this video, but i am learning more about North Georgia all the time. My daughter lives in Dalton, I live in Ky. Striper fishing can be so exciting ! The Norris and Cherokee used to have a lot of big stripers many years ago. Great video, loved everything about it! Pap Blevins
Absolutely fantastic day there brother. Striper are hard fighting and that morning and evening bite are crazy. You saw the wolf pack chasing baits. Great video with Jeremy. Blessings
Great video and great fishing and big fish's.!! Hi John! Have a good day and week! God bless. Love the fishing videos and the Bible verse!! Monday I catch 5 perch and 6 bluegill and one bullhead catfish a little one, it was fun!!
Still my favorite fish. I prefer using spinning tackle, but I fish from the bank. You're lucky when you catch one from the bank and days with multiple fish are extremely rare. But it's like hooking up to a truck when you get one. I have caught one top water from a boat. Nothing like it. Thanks for sharing.
Unbelievable action what nice fish. Love that intro too. A bit different than what you do normally huh? Not your average blue gill by any means or Bass Haha.
Two thrills I get when hooked up to a striper. First thrill is that first run that feels like I’m hooked to a freight train . The second thrill is that silver flash under the boat when I first see the fish.
Hybrids fight harder. Great fun though either one. From a small aluminum boat I find I may be 200 yd away before I get the fish in. Best fun is top water plug when they are pushing shad to the surface..
@@CreekFishingAdventures yeah I didn’t feel like getting a license there, but I shoulda stopped by Chilhowee on the way home, but the wife weren’t so keen on the idea haha!
You gotta head to FarmVille Va and fish briery creek lake man they have hogs out there! Just ask Chad Hoover. Maybe you can link up with Luther cifers founder of bonafide and yak attack and go fish it.
Tightening your drag would help you get the fish in quicker and of stress them so bad. Fish under 20 should not pull drag if it does you are using to little of gear.😢😢😢 you should know better. But you have made the comment before you buy a license and they expect them not all to live.😢😢
ok thanks for your input but I will trust the guide that's been doing this every day for years and depends on the fish living so he can catch them again
Love the fishing videos, and the Bible verse is a wonderful bonus!!!!

Those stripers sure are fun to catch!
*"A little bigger than most of the fish I catch"* -- pulls in a 20 lb striper -- hahaha me too dude, me too! Awesome vide, love your content, John.

Nice fish! Not a big fan of trolling, but it sure gets it done.

You ever fish in Cherokee, NC? I’m here and wondering if there’s any smallmouth in the Oconaluftee River here
hmm i have caught trout a few times, i know the lakes have smallmouth

Nice change up, but 8 species of panfish is enjoyable too
Nice my pb is 8 lb took a sunfish lol
😂 u said the 20 pounder was a "bit" larger than what you usually catch😅 I bout went to Jesus 😅 laffing!!
U need to come to carters lake get ahold some our big stripes
been there and caught them with the same guy i fished with in this video
Feisty fish. I’d love to hook up on one but I don’t know if we get them here in east ky. Awesome video by the way!
Down in my neck of the woods
LOL, don't know how you can just throw them all back! You could eat for a week or two on one of those!!
What bait was y’all using
8 to 9 inch gizzard shad
I bet those are good eating
Ya gotta like a guide that can put you on'm like that. 🎣
That drag on the first fish was not very smooth. Yikes! Good thing you didn't tighten it up much. Striper fishing sure is fun.
I fish stripers in my river on 6lb test line so fun may take a hour to land the fish but its such a thrill!
❤Amen
I knew when I saw that big reel in the thumb nail you were going after biggins

What kind and size of live bait?
That is the most horrendous sounding drag I’ve ever heard lol
Hey how’s it going!
great

Not suprised that you don't care if the fish dies.
I would eat a few no matter what there are plenty out there
Your guide was doing it right. Pump and reel and never thumb the spool and you can catch 50 pound fish on 15 pound test.
#1.2+K👍🏻 🚤🎣👀
