    I hope this video gets its deserved impressions and recognitions, because these details are priceless in owning and safely operating your weapons. Travis is breaking down so much in just a short video that its impossible to watch it once and say 'I came away with everything he was attempting to teach.' Many think operating a weapon system (either rifle and/or handgun) is about cleaning, training, and bullet provisioning. But just as important as those things are, it's also about problem solving with your weapon system and maximizing your efficiency in its use. Great video Travis, and thank you for your service and all that you're doing to educate the gun community.

      28 years of martial arts and 14 yrs of firearms, I drill all my friends and soldiers the same way, problem is people learn at a different pace, and have a lot of patience, a lot will disagree but when you show them why and the reason behind it, it all falls into place.

    I think this is the longest video Travis has ever made! You usually keep them to the point & short, leaving us always wanting more. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. With malfunctions, I'd suggest doing them with a friend when possible, who can set the malfunction up for you. Then you'll have no idea what kind of malfunction your going to have.

    Ive seen guys in my community (Army) say a lot of shit about Haley courses and the implementation of science, metronome timing and nuero-science being a sales tactic...and while i scour every medium and attend courses and watch how various people do various thing..... i always come back to Travis giving me Aha moments and i gotta fucking break out my note book and take notes.... even for a simple 1R1 that I have been doing for years now....just AHA! brilliant I dunno what it is besides fucking brilliant. Travis is showing a double feed procedure a little different from what I've seen from him before. Here he's not confirming the upper receiver is clear with racking the slide a couple of times. He's just locking the bolt, pressing the mag release, and pulling the mag out and back in. Anyone hear or see where he talked about NOT cycling the bolt a few times before inserting the mag back in?

  • @Reloader449
    @Reloader449 4 роки тому +1

    What if you could lock the Carrier to the rear without taking your firing hand off the pistol grip? At 8:21 you move your firing hand to the T-handle, and your support hand to the bolt-lock lever (paddle), in order to pull the carrier back, and also lock it back.
    I have an extended Button on my bolt-lock paddle which allows locking the carrier back with the THUMB OF MY FIRING HAND. I don't have to move my firing hand off of the pistol grip. I rack the carrier back with my support hand, the way we do in most other situations. This is NOT a battery assist lever. It is an addition to the bolt-lock paddle. Mine is the only rifle with this, because I invented it. When I showed this to my nephews (Marine and Ranger) they said "We have got to get this to every soldier and marine in the world right now." I should send you a photo ...

    One question :
    You said it's unsafe to lower your AR chambered with safety on and transition to your pistol. (I agree)
    How is it safe to transition from your empty chambered AR to your pistol, fire and holster it back chambered then?
    Sorry for what might sound like a stupid question...I'm a novice. I just don't get it.

    • @LucasFerreira-qx6kr
      @LucasFerreira-qx6kr 4 роки тому +6

      If your rifle is loaded, it might point to other people on your sides and to your back because of the transition, also, the safety can be rubbed to fire if it caughts on your gear.
      The pistol is way safer, since it goes on a holster, the rifle doesn't have a holster.

    Nice video! But, I could notice you dont swing your firearm to the side to eject the empty mag?
    We all do that in the unit because we had a lot of cases where the mag stayed stucked in the gun when we did exercises like speed reloads with polymer mags (like magpull).(we have CQB scars in 5.56 and 5.7 backup guns). is there a reason you dont do that? ( other mag, other gun , personal experience...) pretty intrested in that.

    • @liamcosgrave5410
      @liamcosgrave5410 4 роки тому +2

      I know you are asking Travis and not me , but if I remember correctly he said in one of his earlier videos that he doesn't do it on a range with other people in close proximity because noone likes a mag to the face . Or something along those lines

    • @LucasFerreira-qx6kr
      @LucasFerreira-qx6kr 4 роки тому +2

      I would add that also, in a reload where the rifle is still shouldered, a static one as Travis call's it, the mag tends to drop freely, it's when you bring it to your armpit that it might catch, but you can eject the mag with momentum, not necessarily needing to do a mag flip, for demonstration on the technique, I suggest you watch the emergency reload video from the channel MilspecMojo.

    I have a question for Mr. Haley or anyone willing to take the time to answer. The range I go to only allows me to engage 1 target at a minimum distance of 25 yards when using a rifle. I am really trying to get out and train my speed and accuracy which is why I would love to do these drills but I feel like I have to slow down so much since I can’t shoot at closer ranges. Is there any way to improve these things with my current situation or do I need to find a new place to shoot?

      His sling would be best of both worlds I think, you can quicky change from 2 to 1 points and vice versa, the only downside it's that when it's in two points, you have no quick adjust tab like a vickers sling.
      Also, getting hit in the balls it's not great hahaha.

    When setting up the double feed drill with both the carbine and the pistol I am wondering if there is a reason you do not use spent cartridges? I usually do that with the handgun. I realize most of the double feeds on on the carbine are mag induced (I do set them up with two live rounds on the carbine) but once in a while do to dirty chambers, broken extractors/ extractor springs or whatever you can get a failure to extract. I am just curious as an instructor for a law enforcement agency and academy.
    Thank You.

    He didnt do the bolt racking during the double feed like he described, but awesome video nonetheless.

      Because he saw that both rounds fell out of the gun, so it would´ve been unnecessary. Thats why he skipped it.

      Doesn’t matter, the airsofters that actually pay attention will never shoot anyways. I find the comments funny. These guys just kiss his ass as they ad on an extended mag release. So tactical
