Christina, you are a rarity and I know Richard appreciates all your help and efforts !!!! Christina, you rocked it with this Jeep!!!!! Richard, you are blessed and lucky to have found Christina!!! You BOTH ROCK!!
Richard & Christina the Jeep is looking great. A new fuel tank, seats, and maybe new wire harness ( if that doesn't break the budget) would take it to the next level
Thanks! Yes, a new harness will be the next step unless I can sort out what is there. The tank is available, but I am not thrilled with having it under the front seat. I may go a different route, but I need to research that. Later model seats are ready to be installed once the wiring is done. Thank you for the support!
You are a lucky man Richard not to many women would be next to her man helping out with working on cars , it is a rarity to see this nice to see this Christina ❤
All my ex ever did was complain and try to out think me. When her car wouldn't start, she told me to check the tire pressure!!!! I put my tools away, closed the garage.
My B&D weedeater uses that same battery and you're right, they don't last long. My solution was aftermarket batteries from Battery Source that seem to hold a longer charge and I have five of them fully charged before I start in my yard. This whole process is a real labor of love from Christina to Richard. It warms my heart to know this couple and see how well they interact with each other. Nothing fake about either of them. Christina may look dainty but there's a good ol' farm gal under that facade. Richard is just a down to earth good guy with a great sense of humor.
Amazing what a little paint and a lot of effort can do to make a vehicle look fantastic! You Christina did a great job reviving the old Jeep! You will have many happy miles and smiles with J-Rex!!
Richard Christina your fan Kenneth Mason keep the content coming love videos I would very much love to see you guys find and do a 57 Ford car this is a car you just don't see much of everything I've been able to read up on is the cars were such good cars that they were just used up
I think this should have been a themed car called "Beauty and the Jeep", could have split it down the middle and made it look sparkling new on one side and kept the other half with rust sealer to freeze it in the state you found it. I liked how in the first video his focus on getting it running could have been mistaken for disappointment so I can see why she wasn't confident in him liking it. Was funny when she was even asking the comment section for approval :). Glad it turned out so well. Wish you guys the best!
Holy cow guys. You do need to get a laser rust/paint removing tool. Several people on UA-cam are using the laser and it works great with minimal effort. There is so much compromised metal I would not trust using fiberglass patches. There is at least a weeks work just welding in patches then it all needs sanded smooth. This is one project you can complete in sections for your channel. It is simple and can be done on a limited budget. Take your time. Make it safe and have fun.
Very few channels show cleanup or work on frame and suspension. The CJ5 is great for a budget build. Not so much the way I would approach the job but it is entertaining. Still guess why Christina wears her sweater around her waist all the time. Richard, you give her the crap work while you do the mechanical stuff. You two are both fun to watch but I still am not understanding why you painted the Jeep with rhino liner or some such product. Even as a budget build, I would have pulled the engine and trans to gain access to engine compartment and front suspension. Front end parts are relatively inexpensive and make the vehicle feel much safer. You could have painted the vacated engine area, probably 4 cans of rattle paint. Clean fix and paint the engine before reinstall. This is the type vehicle you can make your own wiring harness, put wires in loom, properly secure in place and compartment would look great. One more thing....don’t forget to clean and paint under hood. I like it. The CJ will be a fun summertime car. Let us know the future work you plan. Straighten tail gate to remove bow. Where are you located. Not asking for your address just a general question. I am in SW Florida north of Naples. It is always entertaining watching you two. Awning over door could use cleaning but nice shop. Have fun.
Richard and Christina, the jeep looks great. You spent a lot hard work on her. Now you got to write 'Ouch" in the visible dents. That would be awesome 😂❤😂❤❤
Excellent video Christina :) , Richard :) that Jeep lives on for sure and like Red body , White Rims on plus Black Decals be nice and Brand Rust Coat paint Aluminum or Silver be nice on bumpers plus lights on metal parts even dash plus windows too!
Another super-enjoyable video. Yall have some beautiful property & views. Electric sander? Ever think of buying some air tools? You can get drills, buffers, grinders, chisels, rivet-guns & much more. No electrical cord needed, they'll work great on your 50 psi air hose. After using both electric & air, I prefer air. Thanks for the video.
Hi Richard ! Really enjoy your video's , they are down to earth , true experience working with old iron. I'm in my 70's and remember me and my buddy's always had an old jeep.Simple enough we could get them to run , kinda stop , but that old front suspension....the death wobble...keep up the Great Work , you take me back !!
Brilliant video thanks. I admire your patience mending this old Jeep. I would have pushed it off into the weeds and left it to think about its behavior!
I just bought an 81 CJ-5, boy I thought I had work to do, but this made me realize how easy I have it LOL. Nice job getting an old CJ-5 back on the road, best Jeeps ever made, enjoy!
The best thing I found for removing that raptor liner off of your drive way and metal is citrus strip and plastic. Just brush it on and cover it with plastic. Let it set for 24 hrs and wash it off.use a pressure washer for the best results, love your channel.
Just had my June 1966 birthday. Hey, Jeep CJ5, we're both 58. Sometimes I think I need a tune-up just like you. There are days I don't fire on all cylinders and I feel rusty.....Maybe I'll drink some Cre-Oil..
I did a 71 f100 10 years ago with bed liner paint.....everyone thought I was crazy 🤪 I'm so glad you guys did this 😊 thanks for sharing 👍 the truck is in Temple George I heard it still looks great 😊

I appreciate you sharing your struggle. I've wanted to give up quite a bit lately when odd things have happened with my projects. Well, odd things and expensive things. On the wrinkle finish, I have always used a heat gun with it. That allowed me to kind of create a more controlled and even pattern. Maybe that's worth trying on a test panel? Glad you liked it! We would love to do more revivals, but the views are so much less given the size of our channel. Over time this may change, allowing us to free up content a bit. For now, our second channel, More What The Rust will be the place for the other things that we do. Having both channels allows us to do both.
Cool video like the way it looks mix Bedlinner and paint, wow, Cj 5 back in the hunt. Great job on the work you did 👍 . Y’all have made it ready to have fun again.
That red CJ Jeep is a cool project. It just needs lot of bodywork. I like these Jeeps. Too bad they were never sold im my country, we have just the mountains for them.
It was a long video but it was very interesting finding out to use an electric sander because batteries don't last long. And painting it yourself is a challenge. Christina you did a lot of work. You could tell at the end that the challenges were getting to you. Sending hugs. ❤ The channel! Woohoo 😂
Hi Richard and Christina, the old Jeep looks really good, I'm still waiting for my Cardiologist to set a date for my surgery, I've decided to let her go in my sternum/open heart, I'm getting nervous by the day, I want it done and over with, wish me luck guys.
It will be OK, Terry. I had open heart too, and the best part after the surgery was that you will feel noticeably better each day. Hang in there, and reach out for advice if needed.
Good work guys! It's starting to look and sound like a Jeep 4 cyl when driving!! It will be a nice daily driver around town when finished for quite a few years.

Thanks Allen. The wiring harness is next on the list. The raptor color screw-up was mine. I thought I had ordered the full tintable kit with color, but what I actually ordered was the black kit with color separate.
Hey Christina and Richard, your hard work shows! What a different in this old girl, you both put some time in and with the weather I am sure you guys are happy to get J-Rex in a lot better shape.Just one quick thing for Richard,I had a 75 Thunderbird act like this and it was the coil wire. Sure that is not the case her but small things can get you sometimes. 😊
I work on them Jeeps all the time that bodies in mint condition compared to the ones I fixed . The one I have now I reinforce the frame used 3/16 steel plate I did the same thing to the body I made my own fenders using 316 plate also . I put in Cummins with front rears out of a 3/4 ton Ford . Just keep add it them Jeeps for fun I bought a few of them Jeeps underneath the dash looks just like yours spaghetti factory once you wire a few dozen you get the hang of it . I watch your video every time I get a chance . As always your thoughts and opinions are your own .
Looks really good! I really like those old Jeeps! Excellent job!! 👍👍😎 I'm assuming the transmission and transfer case are working good too. If you haven't, I'd advise changing the fluid in the transfer case and both front and rear axles. If you want to go that far. Nice job, Richard and Christina!! Thanks for sharing!!
hey rich, after the jeep gets runing you can use it to push some cars in the garage . install a type of push bar on the front with a type of rubber tire. just a thought.
I think I'd go with an electronic ignition conversion dizzy, far more reliable. Cool work from both of you! It's not always about making cars pristine, it's about making them driveable so you can have fun. Far too many project vehicles never see the road cos the owner is looking for perfection.
Exactly, Kev! We don't have the resources to make this Jeep a concourse resto, but we do want to join in on the various Jeep meets in the area. Now we can.
I found this video on UA-cam where this guy with less than 500 followers searched and tested a bunch of different paint strippers. The best one by far was CitrusStrip.. it took all the paint and bubbled it to bare metal in 24-48 hours after he wrapped it in plastic to sit and activate. CitrusStrip, you paint it onto the area you want stripped with a brush. It's almost like a gel.
I thought he said it was called Citrus Drop, but I just googled it. It's called Citrus Strip from the big box home improvement stores. He used the 64oz or big gallon bucket of it. Then he painted it on and let it sit for a day or two.
I like RO products. They are good quality and get you good results at a reasonable price. A little extra red and it will be great. The more you drive it the better it’ll get especially if you sort out the distributor and wires.
Christina, you are a rarity and I know Richard appreciates all your help and efforts !!!! Christina, you rocked it with this Jeep!!!!! Richard, you are blessed and lucky to have found Christina!!! You BOTH ROCK!!
Girl, you rocked it! These old Jeeps do go done easy. I'm sure you both will have it running like a top before long. Keep em comin. I'm rootin fer ya!
Thanks very much! I'll be getting the new distributor back in shortly.

Nice job! The rhino liner looks good and was a good idea.
Thank you. We appreciate the feedback. We really like the look, but were not sure if others would enjoy it.
The jeep looks cool in black
It was tempting to leave it that way, but we wanted to stick with the original plan of red.

Agreed, we patched the floor with 20 gauge steel, and only the very small holes were filled with fiberglass.

You can find the video on the channel Up Spits Creek but all together spelled out. Posted a month ago.
You can find the video from a month ago. Up Spits Creek.
Thanks for the tip!
😂😂😂Love your new word “Scamazon”😂😂😂😅😅😅
A lot of work to get it this far. Looks good.
Thank you Robert. Much appreciated.
I sent a email for the merchandise, I must have sent it wrong, can I get it again please? Love the progress on the jeep and your new place
Hi Calvin. The email for merchandise is whattherust@yahoo.com.
I like RO products. They are good quality and get you good results at a reasonable price. A little extra red and it will be great. The more you drive it the better it’ll get especially if you sort out the distributor and wires.
Right on!
Shake it but don't break it .
