A tip for the cardboard in the beds is to wet it really really well before adding the compost/soil on top. For now you can just keep watering a lot! Some people poke a hole in the cardboard for the seedlings to grow deeper. Looking great!!

The carrots need sandy soil yo grow deep into it otherwise it will look like the one u've got in your hand. Make.Do.Grow is really a great YT channel. They plant lufer with great success as wel as other veggies. Maybe it will also help you because most of their beds have cardbord underneath the soil. Love granny South Africa❤

Here is a tip. For all the wood you use in the garden, for posts or raised beds or even fence posts, char burn anything that is going on the ground or under the ground. It will stop it rotting and uses no chemicals so can be used in the soil where you are growing vegetables.

    • @TheIndigoEscape

It's astonishing to see such quick progress - you can really start picturing how it will look when it's done. So exciting to think about being able to move in by the end of the year! The other thing you can do with that fencing is make a ‘tube’ about waist high, ref foot across, & clip it securely. Find a plastic or stuff cardboard tube, place in the middle & fill with small rubble. Line the inside with heavy ‘damp proof’ plastic. Fill the area around the middle tube with good soil & compost. Gently pull the middle tube out now you simply cut a small hip in the sides to plant whatever you wish, strawberries do very well like this.

For the mesh arch would it work to start with 2 steel posts in the ground and thread the mesh in and out the gaps for one side then for the other side thread the posts like a needle thru the mesh then into the ground for a bit more stability (if the mesh is flexible enough). I love the retic pipe edging. Finishes it off nicely plus protects your eyes too.

What we call cattle panels in the States are heavier gauge metal and about 50 inches wide (no need to cut them). Many people use those as garden arches, supported by T posts. If similar panels exist in Portugal, they're probably costlier, so good on you for creating an economical garden trellis. Wonderful progress on the blockwork, beautiful stone facing, and garden!

Fantastic video! I would not have worked in that rain! LOL😂!! I would have just covered it and if was to hard added some water or dumped it where your floors going to go! Or mad an edging for one of your garden beds. Just thinking out loud!❤❤ AWE, I wish I'd known about Omar's tours! I wanted to go on one!?! One for UK, and does he go to Wales? One of my Grandparents is Welsh. And I want to do his Spain tour also!!! Not much!! I'll have to get on a street corner and beg for change!!!
I did an arch in my garden bed but it was with a Cattle panel. Real strong, not flimsy and 4 fence tempest 5 ft (1 ft in the ground). Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Yellow Squash, Zucchini and Canalope! Yes, Canalope! When the fruit starts to grow, you can put it in mesh like fruit bags at the grocery store, or plastic bags and tie the bags to the arch underneath, it doesn'tneed the sun! Just the stalk and leaves. The fruit is protected to from birds. The Cattle panels come in 8ft or 16 ft. So you can buy 2, 8ft panels and make a t-pee, (like your little one but 2 sides that connect at the top. The 16 ft one. You just hammer or use a t-post tool, to put the t-post in the 4 corners. Then just use the t-post to hold one side as you zip tie or wire the panel to 2 post on one side. Then I just lifted up the other side and it just bowed on it's own. And I zipped tied it since it was quicker. So it's 4ft in-between the arch and the arch is like 6ft tall. I could have done 2ft in between, but that's too narrow. My neighbors came home from work shocked and asked who helped. I said, Noone. Yes I'm feeling better at times. When I was done with that I sure was hurting. My x-rays finally arrived so I start Physical therapy on Wednesday! Stay Safe! Tell the Family hello!! Oh, I was LMAO watching you and your Mom with that wire and praying you wouldn't stab each other with it!! ✝️🙏❤🇺🇸🇵🇹⛵👣🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍☘🤗

when you say always assume the best of others thats subjective.you tube is full of channels that are created for clicks and views. you guys (building and construction/diy'ers) arent such channels. your growth is steady and real but new comers wouldnt know that. so you have to understand why people are sometimes skeptical. there are some diy'ers, however, that i find questionable and i bury those channels back in the algorithm. anyway dont be offended by those questions. they are well meaning.😍😍😍😍

I understand your comment completely and I understand how some channels use clickbait and drama for content purpose and growth. However, Im not sure how asking if "we fed Simon as he does 90% of the job" is a normal question. I personally wouldn't ask that to someone to them personally, to their face. So, I wouldn't ask it online either. It just seems like an strange assumption.

@@TheIndigoEscape i dont know if your channel is a vlog but in a vlog people seem to over share. so maybe those people that watch vlogs ask those type of questions, andera. its not personal. you guys have shared other aspect of your lives that are not building related is how i look at it. i hope simon isnt offended either. im just giving you another perspective that all.
