As a ducty, I wear Riggs. I do a lot of sheet metal work, and I've never ripped them so far. I don't do the cargo pockets, mostly because I have my toolbelt on doing new construction, but they are awesome! Only pants I'll buy, and if they do rip, they aren't the most expensive things to replace. Plus my job gives us allowance every year, so I'm not really buying them myself

Great insight on a good selection of pants! Those 511 pants are great. I used to wear them when I worked at an aquarium and got splashed often. They are water resistant for a few months of washing which was nice while working in the wet environment. They are not winter pants though (Lived in MN) but like Chris said they work well in the summer much better than other pants.

I've been wearing the Fire Hose Flex pants and love the cargo pockets. They are loose/stretchy enough I can load them up and still move freely, but tight enough that the tools stay in place. I wear the standard fit, but they made a relaxed and a slim fit. I have 5 pairs in grey and navy, and have been wearing them for over a year now. I'm starting to see some small holes on that from cell phone pocket, but I've been over stuffing them with tools as of late. I can change what I use those pockets for and the holes won't grow.
I'll look into those 5.11s for a summer pant. Portland isn't as hot as other places, but I'm acclimated to it and would prefer a more breathable pant when it starts hitting 70+.

I actually bought a pair of 5.11 pants on sale and absolutely love them for getting in and out of my truck, crawling around in attics tracing out automation, climbing ladders, and so much more. the pockets are nice as well. They are stretchy and breathable, probably the best pants I've bought for working. Sometimes the Dockers, Carhart, Levi's just don't cut it and get super hot and uncomfortable. I even have a pair of Mountain Hardware I used for fishing that I found to be super good for working on hot roofs and have nice breathable durable fabric.

This video has been out almost a year and I just now finally got around to watching it. 🤣
My Redcap cargo pants have always worked pretty well for me, though in the summer I’m gonna need something quite a bit more breathable.

  • @guy872
    @guy872 4 роки тому +3

I currently alternate between the Wrangler Riggs in the winter and Dickies Tactical for the summer. I really like the Riggs because they are so sturdy they last a long time and can take the wear and tear no problem. They have a good amount of insulation so you can get away with wearing them without an under layer outside in the winter. But not so thick you sweat to death working inside.
The Dickies I am not so in love with. Like you said they fade pretty quick and the pockets aren't the best. I'm going to look into getting some of the 511 for my summer rotation and see how they work out.
    I appreciate the unbiased reviews!

I really liked the 5.11 TacLite pants, but this last fall I switched to Duluth’s ultimate cargo. I like the exterior pockets for the knee pads. I’m not sure how much I’ll like them for warmer weather considering the material.

I like the Ridge Mountain pants, theyre thick, flexible and they're very durable. I also like the looks of them. I used to wear nothing but Carhartt but they're getting too expensive and wanted to change it up. I bought some Bernes but they don't fit right for me, but I just picked up some Keys and looking forward to seeing how I like them!

That’s exactly how I wear my 5 11‘s. Although sometimes I put my OtterBox in the clip on my belt. You do have to turn them inside out to put the kneepads in and you have to take them out when you wash the pants or else they get warped. But once you get the hang of it it gets easier especially when you do it a couple times and the pads start to have a little bit of give and they slip right in and out.

I actually saw the 5.11 logo in a video a few months ago and researched myself which pants they were, didn't know this video existed.
But nice to hear your opinion matches my results from other online research.
    Gonna buy some soon.
But by the way it's a bit hard to find this channel, mainly because it's not linked directly on your main channel, in that "related channels" section.
But only really a concern on mobile, and i usually watch your videos on the phone before bed.

I have a pair of the dickies cargo slim fit pants by far the most comfortable and fitting work pants I own. I have a pair of the 5.11 tac pants which I do like but the dickies to me breathe better and are more comfortable. My work makes us wear Flash rated uniforms I won’t even go there. I wear back up pants on weekend work and side job stuff those dickies will definitely come in use up in a inferno attic.

I'm a little confused why you think the flexpedition pants are so weak and are going to rip so easily? But you didn't mention any actual damage to them? I have a few pairs of them and love them... But not as dedicated work pants. They feel too much like a dressy comfy pajama pants to wear to work. Unless you work at a desk, or drive for a living. They'd be perfect for that. I use them for lounging, traveling, weddings, funerals, riding snowmobile, and if it's cold I wear them under bibs. But with all that said, I've had some for several years and never damaged them...I think they're tougher than they feel. Nice video!
