Don't know how true it is, but I remember reading in the WoW forums that the original plan was supposed to be that Sylvannas kills Genn, then Liam and Tess become leaders of the Worgen. That changed after Blizzard noticed people on the forums were hyping up Genn a lot because he was the only remaining king from the original Alliance.

Liam could have had a story arc of learning the true weight of the crown of Gilneas and acted as semi-contemporary for Varian and an older brother for Anduin during Cataclysm. Alternatively, have Tess be the Gilneas liaison in Stormwind and have Liam stay in Teldrassil. Of course, this is assuming Blizzard had actually good writers for WoW, which we all know isn't the case (all we need to point to is Cataclysm-era green Jesus and the horribly-written goblin starter questline).

@@zaishijunior9455 Well, the thing is that the reason Thrall did that was because they wrote themselves into a corner by making the only competition to Galliwyx be the player character (and the player character can't be trade prince for obvious reasons). Galliwyx would have been executed if instead of the player being the next in line for Trade Prince it had been someone else. The player character should have been more like your average working joe, and the Trade Prince contender should have been someone like Sassy Hardwrench (really could be any named character). Set it up that the player character works for her but gets caught up in corporate warfare because Gally wants to stay in power. This could be used to introduce all the goblin lore bits and would also explain why the player is the one doing the errands/quests. Show that Gally and Sassy don't really care about you until you meet and gain Thrall's confidence, which is where there is a split. Gally wants to kill you (because he sees more competition), while Sassy instead decides to buddy up to you because she knows it would be to her advantage (and she's proven to be right since after killing Gally she becomes the Trade Prince).
Imagine having survived all that chaos just to end up getting crushed by that tidal wave. If you live? Swimming to the surface of the water only to look around and seeing your Gilneans, forsaken, and worgen all swimming to the shore. What a day.
Blizzard in a nutshell, put up something interesting at start, maybe middle.. then either forget about it for years or uusally just never continue again while they make new stuff an repeat with that

The worgen that Archmage Arugal unleashed upon the Scourge came from the Emerald Dream. They were originally Night Elf druids who used thee forbidden wolf form and gave into the bloodlust and uncontrollable rage that came with it, as Goldrinn had warned them(but of course, we all know that Night Elves don't listen to their gods until it's too late). The only thing that could be done was for Malfurion to imprison them in a part of the Emerald Dream where they couldn't hurt anyone. But of course, at some point Archmage Arugal found a way to summon portals to the realm, despite not knowing what the hell he was doing, and that's how he unleashed the worgen onto the Scourge in Silverpine Forest and the fallen part of Gilneas(at the time).

Instead of trying to blow up the portal they should have built a giant murder cage around it that only gives way for one path for the massive orc army to run too. As soon as they step through the portal pike barricades and crossbows should have met them. Okay, so here's how you get rid of anything coming out of the Dark Portal. Blades.. massive blades from pillar to pillar, stacked top to bottom 3:1 Empty:Blade. The edge of the blades directly touching the entrance. Anything comes out 🤷♀️ julienne orc 😵
i actually remember, now, a quest chain in Dragonblight (WotLK) wherein there was a minor backlash caused by one of the (i think a named Scarlet mob) NPCs committing suicide by jumping off a cliff. Worgen as a playable race came in the next expac, as did the "starter zone" questline wherein Godfrey takes the (meticulously ambiguous) dive.
To be fair, they weren't really called night elves until after the sundering, they were just elves with a sect called the highbourne. The highbourne that didn't become naga became the high elves, and later the blood elves, and the elves that were not highbourne simply just stayed as night elves
Everyone likes to pretend horde is one sidedly evil but no one ever likes to talk about how the first alliance storyline is about how Stormwind fucked over westfall, red ridge, dusk wood, and the stonemasons guild or how Genn grey mane is literally EVIL. Like wtf how did Sylvanas get turned into the evil character and not this guy!? He never had an arc? We just forget his horrible actions as an oopsie or something!? Meanwhile the people around orgrimmar and thunder bluff seem to be fine with their lives. No class of nobles being infiltrated by a dragon and fucking over a majority% of the population or a king making a wall to let everyone outside of it be killed by the scourge or the worgen he helped unleash lol.
In his Defence, the Worgen came from another World, and the only one who had at least a tiny bit of Intel about them was outside the Wall. So there was no way for the King to know about the Worgen Infection. So the mistake of letting the Injured Guards in, is understandable.
question: why didn't they just dig a trench and build a fort around the dark portal? you rush, you fall to your death, you try to build a bridge you get shot down by a volley of arrows, you shoot back, we're in a fort that doesn't work. It's just so much more effective.

The Dumbest thing about all this is that we could have gotten Gilnean City back during Battle of Azeroth Expansion.. the Undercity, the seat of the Forsaken home and Sylvanas Rule is gone, uninhabitable. So there are no forces left to hold Gilnean. The undeath plague is basicly smoke that can be purge with dragon fire, they could have just ask Alexstraza to send some of the ruby dragon to purge the plague in gilnean....But instead we re all sent to Kul'Tiras or Zandalar and fought the rest of the war there... and why the hell is there no update on Stromgard.. i mean they could have just made it canon that Stromgard is secured by the alliance and became a new city or claimed by the horde to be a new city and have the alliance get gilnean city back instead we re sent to Nazjatar and fight against Queen Azshara so called old gods bullshit. This is so stupid of blizzard.
Yeah everything is about being woke, being gay (they literally turned Matthias Shaw, the greatest human spy into being gay in bfa) , being friendly and peacefull.. Oh and of course its about wamen. Calia, Taelia, Sylvanas, Jaina, Valeera, Tyrande.. Such a shame. Malfurion became a side character who just watches his wife do stuff.. As asmongold said once, wow needs more MEN in charge. More blood and thunder, more masculinity and more testosterone

I quited Dragonflight because we (the Alliance) did not retake Lordaeron nor Gilneas. It took some time, but at long last - GILNEAS IS RETAKEN!
i actually remember, now, a quest chain in Dragonblight (WotLK) wherein there was a minor backlash caused by one of the (i think a named Scarlet mob) NPCs committing suicide by jumping off a cliff. Worgen as a playable race came in the next expac, as did the "starter zone" questline wherein Godfrey takes the (meticulously ambiguous) dive.

To be fair, they weren't really called night elves until after the sundering, they were just elves with a sect called the highbourne. The highbourne that didn't become naga became the high elves, and later the blood elves, and the elves that were not highbourne simply just stayed as night elves

Like wtf how did Sylvanas get turned into the evil character and not this guy!? He never had an arc? We just forget his horrible actions as an oopsie or something!? Meanwhile the people around orgrimmar and thunder bluff seem to be fine with their lives. No class of nobles being infiltrated by a dragon and fucking over a majority% of the population or a king making a wall to let everyone outside of it be killed by the scourge or the worgen he helped unleash lol.

In his Defence, the Worgen came from another World, and the only one who had at least a tiny bit of Intel about them was outside the Wall. So there was no way for the King to know about the Worgen Infection. So the mistake of letting the Injured Guards in, is understandable.
question: why didn't they just dig a trench and build a fort around the dark portal? you rush, you fall to your death, you try to build a bridge you get shot down by a volley of arrows, you shoot back, we're in a fort that doesn't work. It's just so much more effective.

The undeath plague is basicly smoke that can be purge with dragon fire, they could have just ask Alexstraza to send some of the ruby dragon to purge the plague in gilnean....But instead we re all sent to Kul'Tiras or Zandalar and fought the rest of the war there... and why the hell is there no update on Stromgard..
i mean they could have just made it canon that Stromgard is secured by the alliance and became a new city or claimed by the horde to be a new city and have the alliance get gilnean city back instead we re sent to Nazjatar and fight against Queen Azshara so called old gods bullshit.
