My first collection started when I bought a British Para Coy on the cheap. Never quite completed it. If you have seen the camouflage required on the smocks you would know why but I got about 60 figures done before I got distracted. My next buy was the force in its entirety because of a battle I read about that I had never heard of before. That was Alam El Halfa, fought between Al Alamein 1 & 2 and was probably the most pivotal battle for the allies. It was Monty's first dance in the desert and the beginning of Rommel's retreat across Nth Africa. He never won again against the British.

Looking at your comment though, on D-Day the Americans never really faced armour they could not beat. With Mk IV's and Stuggs v Sherman's, it was very much who hit first usually won. There was only one confirmed Tiger engagement with US forces until they caught up with the Brits. Though because of the schurtzen plates on the Mk IV's around the turret in particular, coupled with that long 75mm gun they were regularly mistaken for tigers, and that gun was lethal enough. But I think your smoke tactic to keep the Germans moving and limit their fire would allow you a better than even chance to knock them about a bit. Especially if you gave them a stonking with the Priests before hand.

What is the infantry on the left behind the jeeps? You never mentioned them. Smoke is king, so my D-Day American force has three sources of smoke. My Sherman Company runs 3 Priests, 3 mortar half tracks, and 4 Sherman 105's. The idea is close in knife fighting, allowing side shots, as well as hindering air attacks, as well as artillery strikes.
