Bikes led me to Guy. But who would have known at the time I stumbled upon him that he has Latvian roots... greetings from Riga!

My Gran was Polish, I'm guessing these are the kind of views she used to wake up to every morning too, until the Nazis turned up and took her on a little trip. I would love to go back to where she came from but it was tough getting anything out of my Gran about her time in Poland, for understandable reasons, we never even heard her speak a word of Polish, so we're not sure where that place was,

There were 319 Farms, 2 windmills and 3 dairies. I know time moves on etc, but still, it seems such a waste of good land not being used.

Farming was ramped up during the soviet times but quickly died down after the soviet union fell apart when no one was interested in buying our agricultural products as much. Now it's used for making agricultural products just for local use and EU certified bio food for well off locals and foreigners.

Should have driven Latvija van made by RAF in Jelgava, Latvia.
As he loves vans and soviets made those here that were more appropriate art of transportation...

Why does the title say reduced to tears? Why doesn't it day increased to tears? Are tears something that needs to be reduced? Why?

@South Hill Farm. It is the person that is ''reduced.''

      It's just a saying.
While being happy and laughing is considered an increase for your life, being sad about something is a decrease/reduction.
A bit of a quality of life thing. While Guy still saw the good things ("this was his view"), it still made him a bit sad.
That's not a bad thing at all, but for that very moment, it was lowering the quality of life, despite it getting back up again shortly after.

Wouldn't Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, be better off if they joined together? It seems like they have mostly the same issues, and share a lot of the same history.

That's not enough. Culturally and even language wise we're different. I'm a Latvian and I tell you, us Balts are best friends when we keep some distance between us because even though Latvians and Lithuanians are very similar our languages developed somewhat differently. Latvians are generally Lutheran (although religion is becoming more and more meaningless) and Lithuanians are Catholic. Estonians have more in common with the Finns.

@@MadKlauss Well, there is strength in unity, weakness in division.
