Charlotte Moss is absolutely amazing - what a gracious, lovely, talented woman she is. I know this is about Bunny M, but I can't help feeling huge admiration for the narrator and all she has accomplished. Plus, I never knew what a lovely voice she has. Ms. Moss, your books are fantastic - please write more!
What I like about Mrs. Mellon's way of decorating is that she kept a very "lived in" feeling. Not the kind that looks like it is in a museum. Her style is homey yet elegant; comfortable yet tasteful; understated yet unmistakably upper-class. I think her style personified someone who had an unshakable self-confidence and understandably so given that she was born into wealth and married into even greater wealth.
a few years ago when i was obsessed with reading all about MM , I somehow came across some biographies on JFK and Jackie , and i found this fascinating book titled Dropped Names by Frank Langella, and in this book was a few chapters and stories about Bunny Mellon who was Jackie's best friend and it was so interesting to hear about these 2 ladies and the friendship they shared.
I agree with the statement..Home Decor is NOT for "decoration sake"... I always look for objects not only for their beauty and appeal but also for their utility and purpose...even if it's a treasured antique.... Ur Style is what u.. Love ❤️...
Andrew Stewart I haven’t but will check it out. I try to apply a slightly different cultural lens to these old guys but as we know, they’d be a little sketchy today.
Sotheby's should do more in the Netherlands. Buying a big estate instead of a building in central Amsterdam. Then on the estate organize auctions and have some other activities like a bar/ restaurant with a terrace and a nice view. Make it a event to buy in a nice surrounding. But who am I to say ✋🙂
Putting a seashell on a Louie 16th table? What, is that a no, no. Am I the only one who thinks art is from nature. Well then guilty artist whom plateau is nature.
If she hadn't been rich and well known and those objects purchased at Target, she would be called a hoarder and no one would be talking about what great "style'" and "taste" she had. Also, if my initials were "BM", I would never monogram that on anything (same with "BO", "PU", "IT" or "FU")
ilovebeinagirl You obviously have NO idea what the clinical definition of hoarding is. This is nothing. Hoarding is an anxiety driven disorder that traps people. You’re just jealous of her wealth and taste. The fact is Mrs. Mellon was also an incredible philanthropist. This collection is remarkable and your comment shows nothing but contempt for someone you never met. And your rude comments about her initials also show where your mind is.
LOL! "Empathy for objects." Don't think about the fact that her wealth came from the Mellon fortune, which famously wasn't built with any kind of empathy for people. I like interior design but christ, think about what you're saying!
This collection of furniture and decorative claptrap ceramics is an example of rather average (dare I say conservative uninformed taste). It is all too neutral to make any sort of personal statement.
I like what the lady say's about style and it coming from a sense of self-confidence.

I could listen to Charlotte Moss talk about style all day.

bluepuppydan I read that. Good book!
Me too! Excellent book. It was so engrossing I had to make myself stop reading when something else had to be done.
I hope to get that. Thanks
Lovely to hear and see. Beautiful Collection's and a wonderful woman to 🌎🙏🤲🙌😇😎🕊️✝️💐🌄🌊🐞🦋☘️🎼👣🧚☮️
She had good taste thats for sure.
Definitely! Money doesn’t equate good taste.. it’s something you have to cultivate like the lady said
What a great piece. I can feel the passion of art in this video.
AND MONEY!
She and Jackie Shared an amazing sense of taste! As you say style is timeless

Loved this So Well Done💐
This video was fantastic.
I would love to know what Charlotte ended up purchasing. Mrs. Mellon was tremendous.
Whatever it would be exquisite..
Andrew Stewart Yes. Yes it would!!!!!!
@@danielbillingsley74 have you watched the clip of "Paul Mellon in his own words" marvellous although of course we know he wasn't a total saint!

one could do a lot with time and money.
And yet many who do have them do so little
So beautiful 😍
So sad to see that collection devided...
So very beautiful.
Same here... every decor item( except paintings )I have has a purpose. I like to style my home without clutter.
Beautiful
Wow she was the original Martha Stewart !
That lady had class.
She enjoyed life and that is what matters. Obviously she had to leave every thing behind. Lessons.
In the end all the great things that we cherish and collect we do leave behind. We can enjoy them only for a bit of time
Sophisticated
why is she referred to as Mrs. Paul Melon and not her name?
It's the old fashioned way.
The essence of taste is suitability [and intelligence].

Note the ben Nicholson painting at 2.03 not something you would expect her to have I would like to know how she came by it.
Her husband said she was great at one thing and did it for the rest of your life
B e a u t i f u l . . . . .
Agree

Daniel Billingsley I'm in agreement 🙏
ilovebeinagirl - I couldn’t agree more regarding monograms.
@@danielbillingsley74 philanthropy is a scam. there would be no need for it if the 1% didn't hoard wealth.
Alex Castro Correct. But they do. They made it. They keep it. If you want money, work harder and earn it. Quit whining.
Not enough time to actually SEE AND ENJOY anything. Commentator didn't talk about anything in specific either.
this video is an anachronism

It’s a refined sophisticated taste and not a trend or fad
All that money couldn't get John Edwards elected 😢😢😢
