The showrunners continuing to toy with the structure of the original game! They did it beautifully in S1, and feel like they could turn a LOT of TLOU2 haters into lovers by changing how they split the time between main characters. Iykyk, I feel having ALL parts of “Day 1” onwards actually in real time at points would make it translate SO much better. At least in terms of the whiplash some people hate (I personally enjoy it, but I get it forsure).

@@SpeedySpeedson yes but take on me has existed, here in the real life, future days came out in 2013 the same year of the apocalypse but in the show, the apocalypse day was moved in 2003 so future days never existed here, so if joel plays it in the show it would be anachronic. It's a stupid detail but I think it matter a little bit

I don't like Part 2, but I also don't think people who love the game are wrong in their belief. Maybe Season 2 of the show will be different and change how I view the game. My expectations of what Part 2 should've been, before playing and during playing, could be both fair and unreasonable, I will never know... unless Season 2 really does contextualize better a lot of the choices in this game I found to be very weird and wrong from a personal standpoint of how I *thought* I knew characters and thought the story was setting up something else that never happened. Maybe this is my redemption arc and I can finally like Part 2 after the show
I doubt it. You seem to have an idea of the characters and story that is vastly different from Neil and Craig so I very much doubt that what they do will suddenly coincide with what you want.
I think the story will be able to be better told in a tv format.

The game came out in 2020 so if you have gone this long not being spoiled then you probably wont be since it comes in the beginning of 2025. Also Part 3 game is being made and the season 3 probably wont be out until 2027 and the game will most definitely be out before after that and then season 4 2029 or 2030
Very wishful thinking. There hasnt been any news on part 3 yet it’s still years and years away. I hope you’re right though.
Season 3 will likely be filmed during 2025 and out in 2026 just as season 2 was filmed in 2024 and released in 2025. If you are talking about a third game that is at least 6 years away which is the typical development cycle for a AAA game and could be longer for TLOU3 given Naughty Dogs perfectionism and the new tech that future AAA games will be employing.

atm they do another new IP Game which we will see probably next year. Also Naughty Dog went away from the Simultanious Development they started to do with Uncharted 3 because with the Last of US Multiplayer they decided to go back to Focus on Storys in Their games and not burning themselves in stuff they dont feel...thats why they canceld the Last of Us MP
so yeah we wont see a Game Related Last of US Season 3 but MAYBE season 3 or 4 can be a FILLER season between Game 2 and 3....

@@derfritz4550 Druckman said in the doc for Part 2 that he has a working concept and that theres 'probably one more chapter to the story', so I don't think he'd say that if he wasn't confident Part 3 was being made.

soo.... here's the thing about spoilers. There's always people who act in bad faith trying to spoil for everything... Star Wars shows, Marvel Shows, everything. But for the Last of Us, especially as we move into Last of Us 2 territory, there are dedicated haters who have dedicated unbelievable amounts of time and energy trying to spoil everyone they can because of the enormous hate in their heart for this story. I know, I know - "everything has haters, this is no different". I'm telling you right now, Last of Us 2 hate is beyond any other hate you'll find in all of fandom. For those of you (Normies and fellow fans reading this alike), if you think you'll avoid spoilers because you just won't look them up, I'm just trying to serve you fair warning. There is a dedicated hate community like no other that will try to spoil you by any means necessary since they think it'll decrease viewership and perception of the game and show.
I wish you luck, and hope you are successful in avoiding spoilers. I just wanted to point out it might not be as easy as avoiding spoilers for other media properties.
Oh shut up. The game was overrated and inferior to part 1. I also find it interesting that you are here talking about how much you like part 2 and how there are haters for it and you don't like it but don't seem to be okay with the idea of people don't like the same thing that you do. Kinda hypocritical. Don't label people people as haters and bad faith just because they happen to disagree with what you like and just because they love something that came before more than you.
I could say the same thing that you like part 2 hence it's bad faith towards the part 1 and the fans who like it. See how that works? Don't be salty because you happen to be a minority. Part is the last jedi of gaming and that's a fact. If you are gonna call people bad faith then don't be surprised when people call you out on your crap.

I’m not sure how they will break it up. I don’t think it would play as well if it’s broken into 2 seasons. It would mean we’re following the antagonist from season 2 throughout season 3. I think they will split each episode into days like one episode is Seattle Day 1 with Ellie, then Seattle Day 1 with Abby, etc.
The rumor is Part 3 is Tommy's story
If it is Tommy's story, I would play it for sure. With what happens to him in part 2, a game focusing on Tommy before part 1 and some of his side of things in part 2 would be interesting. I have always wanted to see more of Tommy since playing part 1 and more so while playing 2.

Season 2 of the game storyline concept was great but the execution was just not there like the 1st game so hopefully the series does a better job.

If there is ONE thing only a few games were able to do was to create such a sense of community. I will never forget watching the reactions from the TLOU II trailers back then and thinking "gosh, all of these people, who are nothing like me, feel the way I do". There are not many stories like these you know? Glad to see they were able to translate it to the serie

People would like to put off the inevitable (or make it not happen at all) but what this trailer shows are both scenes that lead into what happens to Joel (Abby being saved by Joel from the infected) and things that happen after what happens to Joel (Ellie playing and singing Take On Me to Dina, the SCARS and the WLF). There is the scene of Ellie screaming and crying but she isn't lying down under someone's boot like in the game so it could be when she gets the tattoo to cover her bite mark. But judging from everything else shown the "event" concerning Joel is going to happen in Season 2 and given that it's a shorter season than 1 it's likely to happen fairly early rather than later in the season.

It'll be interesting to see how they will structure the episodes. For sure, it won't be a 1:1 recreation of the game's timeline. And if the rumors of two season-spanning adaption of the second game is true, I see the 'inciting incident' happening as a cliffhanger for season two.
Season 1 came out last year so I assume the started season 2 before season 1 came out which is why they where able to release season 2 a year later

The r second game got a bad wrap because outside of some key moments and character interactions, half of the writing in the game was absolutely ATROCIOUS. (The other half WAS a masterpiece.) But people got so defensive about it, it just spiked the fans on the entire experience, and rightfully so. Druckmann’s comments didn’t help.
Yes, yes and yes. I will always champion that Part 2 is perfect when it comes to the graphics and gameplay, but the story itself is so bad imo. Like I said in a previous comment, there is a world where Season 2 could recontextualize some of the story for me in a way better light where I can finally like the game, but I think it will only ever make me meet the story halfway, or at least it will never meet the "amazing" title from me. There is just things that game will not make me like, no matter what. But at least Season 2 might allow me the closure enough to play the game again
I don't think people understand the difference between bad writing and not liking a story. Some people had a negative emotional reaction to certain things that happened that they then try to rationalize as a reaction to bad writing, but it's not. Bad writing is about logical inconsistency, when stuff happens that doesn't make sense or isn't consistent with plot or character, not when something you don't like happens. There is nothing that happens in Part 2 that doesn't make sense in context.
@@Fangtorn I would challenge that assertion by saying everything Ellie does in Seattle makes no sense in context and not only ruins the story, but ruins her character
If they want to do it better than the game they should cut Abby's point of view completely until season 3 and then show us the same story again but now from her point of view. Very close to what they did in the game *except* in the first episode that made Abby a playable character and was talking to her ex. Because of these scenes the game failed to portray Abby as a villain as was intended to even with that plot twist at the end of episode 1.
Whether they loved or hated the game I think the vast majority of players viewed Abby as a villain after her intro. I've never heard anyone say "man I really _don't_ hate Abby" after that. That is a very strange take.

@@oleoleoleole Just wanted to get some perspective on why you thought the game was ok. For me, from a technical standpoint, this game was the best looking and sounding game I have ever played. Animations were a lot smoother than its predecessor and many other third person games out there.
From a narrative standpoint, I can see why you would say it's ok. This is not everyone's cup of tea.

Biggest letdowns for me was definitely the story structure, pacing, some character arcs and the message druckmann was trying to convey.
Just think tlou2 story structure is more suited for tv than a game, same with Druckmann.

Have to disagree with the casting choices for Dina and Abby in Isabella and Kaitlyn. Dina goes from being a cute relatable girl next-door to a woman who is literally a full-time fashion model when she’s not acting. She just feels incredibly out of place when looking at the rest of the cast. I feel like that one will be easier to get over than the fact that Abby, who has to have been one of the most terrifying female characters I’ve ever seen or played in anything. Legitimately a woman I wouldn’t want to bump into in a dark alley on her bad days for fear of her turning my face into an ashtray with a closed fist. She’s also arm goals for me. I’m not even kidding. But rather than find a woman with an even close to similar build, they hire Kaitlyn Dever, a 5 foot two woman with a build that makes people with sickle cell look healthy by comparison. I hope they make her more knife or gun focused than the hand-to-hand combat efficiency she had in the game cause I’m gonna have to huff a lot of copium to buy her beating 6 foot 5 cultists with sledgehammers with her bare hands. I’m still excited for the show as a fan of the game, truly. I just couldn’t help but share today.
