Distillation column - McCabe Thiele Benzene-Toluene Problem
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 вер 2024
- A Benzene - Toluene mix containing 42 mol% Benzene is to be separated in multiple steps. In the 1st step, a distillation column with a reboiler and a partial condenser is to be used to separate the flow into one holding 70 mol% Benzene and another holding 10 mol% Benzene. Find number of trays needed. When feed is 75% saturated vapour, that is q=0.25.
Reflux ratio is 1.5 and Tray efficiency is 40%. Also, find minimum Reflux ratio and feed location.

I think I got this exercise from: "Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook" by Don W. Green and Robert H. Perry. I'm not 100% sure, but you can find similar exercises like this there.
My lecturer couldn't explain this procedure to us for 6 months, GOD BLESS YOU 👋👋👋
You are most welcome
thank you so much !
much love from Algeria 🇩🇿
Thanks. You can explain so smoothly. I am from Bangladesh. Please run your journey and give an awesome video for us.
Just an easy peasy example but still good. Appreciate it 👍🏻
Your explanation is very clear, my lecturer also struggled in explaining and blurr.. Thanks alot
You are most welcome
Thank you so much, you saved me from a difficult situation, I love you very much
It is really helpful, thanks for sharing.
and nice nails😍
I learn a lot here ☺ | thanks
MacCabe thiele method is easy then other method's. Separation process is little bit difficult subject.
You're very welcome!
OMG, Thank you so much!!
Thanks very much dear this was very helpful
Thank you :)
really helpful..thank u so much
very good explanation
Thank You :)
Thank u! I love your explaination
Glad it was helpful!
It,s really helpful and good topic
Thank you :)
شكرا جزيلا بالعربية 🙏❤️
Nice video! Really helpful, bless you!
Thanks!

Please if the problem has 2 feed streams, would the graph have 2 feed lines?
Thanks a lot so happy that i got everything
Welcome 😊
Love you for this lecture I'm going to get full marks in mass transfer
Yay! ☺️🫶🏼
fine explanation
Thank you , well done
No problem 👍
Thanks Madam
You’re welcome 😊
Really ! I find out you exist on my LAST YEAR ??
Life saver, Thank you so much.
Thank you for your compliment and you are welcome 🙌🏼
thank you for sharing the video buy I wish you could show us how to calculate the values for the equilibrium line
VLE data are collected in labs through experiment
Thanks 🙏
Very good lecture
Thanks
Quite helpful.
Thanks.
You're welcome!
In the problem it didn't say partial reboiler, only reboiler. So, in this case would be in total 6 equilibrium stages, right?
How come when you calculated the number of actual stages, you subtracted 2 from 7 to assume that the reboiler and the condenser are perfect stages but when calculated the feed stage you didn’t subtracted 1 from the 2? I think you should have subtracted 1 from 2 then divided 1 by 0.4 which would have resulted 2.5 or the third stage. This is to take out the condenser stage from the calculation of the efficiency as the efficiency given only represents the tray efficiency. I am eager to hear your comment… Best regards
👍👍
Thank you so much for your explanation. Pls can you mention the name of the textbook where I can find questions such as this. Thank you.

I got a grear book called Separation Process Principles by Seader. Look it up in google as free pdf. The solutions of the exercise sections of this book can be also be found online as a book
Thank you for the recommendation.
tray efficient is it 80% or 40%?...
What if the value I got for my q line is Infinity
Please if the problem has 2 feed streams, would the graph have 2 feed lines?
I also wanna know
If you have two feed streams in your system, you would expect to see two feed lines on the VLE diagram.
@@rihhadatulaisy2128 If you have two feed streams in your system, you would expect to see two feed lines on the VLE diagram.
can you explain what is O'connell's diagram ?
equilibrium data pleas ?
the equilibrium data is not given in question 🤔
in which book can I find this problem?
How did you get q ?
In the problem statement we are told that the feed has 75% saturated vapour so to find the value of q the formula is: 100%= q+v then you substitute the v value which 75% then you get your q value of 0.25. I hope it's clear.😊
Why the -1-1
Thanks 🙏
Thanks 🙏
