Update: Regarding the APP for TR112, actually it can be downloaded from Apple App Store, you can search "radio-ct"

It reminds me of a GE transistor radio I had back in 1977 as a kid. It's definitely one of the coolest radio designs I've ever seen. :)

FYI, if you have an old shortwave tube radio like a Hallicrafters, or a Hammarlund, they have fine tuning as well. It's just that on those sets it's called "band spread".

Yeah. I'd have stayed up all night as a kid, playing with that thing.

I have the Hanrongda version and its great and with the graphic EQ presets number 5 is very bassy. One thing I found out is if you plug in stereo headphones you get stereo if tuned to FM stereo broadcast. I didn't know this and someone pointed it out, also my radio has a 18650 battery in it. The only negative with this radio is it is very tippy if that is a word towards the back and will land on its arse.

That is cool! Like a cheap unbranded military style AM radio from the late 70s that someone has pimped up!

LIKE number 3 which I did with glee. That cool radio reminds me of some Cold War technology from the 50's or 60's like sonar screens on a nuclear submarine. :)

If I were still a little kid, I'd have more worries about swallowing that little screw than the batteries, lol. But I liked to take stuff apart way back then too.

I thought about getting one of these a while back when I saw a review The Radio Shop's channel did of it. I'd like to see how it holds up on shortwave against my Hallicrafters S40-A from the late 1940's. Or my Zenith Trans-oceanic H-500 from the early 50's.

That's weird you can't get shortwave. WRMI is in Florida and they broadcast on almost every shortwave band....granted all it is is brother Stair who sounds like a crazy old man doing sermons...and he is, lol, but I figured with them being headquartered there the signal should be strong as I can pick it up clear up here. Maybe try outside and then try to get WWV in Fort Collins...I dunno.

I used to listen to him in the 80s. Apparently, for those without radios you could listen to him on the telephone.😅

Should have had a longwire for the shortwave, and thrown it over a tree branch (the wire, not the radio). Trying shortwave with a simple FM antenna inside (in the basement?) is like trying to demonstrate a record player without a needle/stylus installed on the tonearm...

You have the radio set for 9kh tuning on AM. It actually does have pretty good sensitivity on AM if you are in 10kh. And you just startled by dog with that emergency alarm.

15:10 Yikes, that live report of the Hindenburg disaster as it was in progress on May 6th, 1937 is still chilling 86 years later.
I have a copy of the Hindenburg disaster footage on a 16mm reel (and one can find the footage on UA-cam, of course) and I recommend the movie, 'The Hindenburg' (1975) starring George C. Scott, Anne Bancroft, William Atherton (a.k.a. Walter Peck in 'Ghostbusters'), Charles Durning, Burgess Meredith, etc. which examines a possible reason and plot resulting in the disaster.

I’m not sure why you think that battery is replaceable. It’s non-standard and you couldn’t take it out because it’s hard-wired directly to the internals. The gray/green version under another brand name is built with a truly replaceable 18650 flat top instead.

I bet that radio would be a great DXer with that fine tuning dial. I agree with others that $80 is a little steep for that. I may still buy it though.

Beautiful radio, and nice video, I am the designer of Choyong radio. I designed an internet radio that supports both 4G network and WiFi. It can receive radio stations all over the world. At the same time, this machine also supports traditional FM, MW and SW reception. I hope you can have a test and give some suggestions to make it more perfect. Can you help me?

Not sure it’s Android only. On the left side of one of the instruction manual pages you showed, it makes reference to IOS and Android. It looks and sounds like a nice radio.

I bought one of these and sent it back. For £30 it is an ok radio for a kid. For £70 it is rubbish. Cheap and nasty. The sound is not bad, but the sound settings default on every power up, the tuning is awful, and the aerial is so thin it will last about a week. Go and get a proper unit, leave this for the kids.
