Here's the problem with compact and full-size parking spaces. I used to drive a pick up truck and all the people with compact cars would parked in the full-size spot so they would have extra space so no one would hit their doors then all that was left for me with a thin compact spots I would have the squeeze into
They're not economical, unsafe in general especially if you need to react fast, you can't fit anymore people in it, not easy to park, they handle awful are too big and like you said drop price really bad. They are off road vehicles not for going through our cities and our roads. We need to make cars smaller not bigger with the amount of cars on the road. You and I have solved the car industry problem why are they so big. Theses SUV'S are NOT Fun to drive!
It would be better and less expensive if it were a car though. That is always my issue with SUVs. You are giving up practicality/functionality (in the form of reduced fuel economy, compromised handling, increased cost) for off-road capabilities almost no Porsche owner is ever going to use. I mean if the Macan was a mini Panamera, just think how much more fun and less expensive it would be. Also, some of the Macan's interior bits are not up to Porsche standards (although maybe they have addressed this since I was last in one, I think some of the newer models have the updated Tegra 3 based infotainment hardware), but the seats are really nice.
Well hopefully, being German, at least the roof liner will not randomly decide to go on strike one day or have its airbag cover develop a bit of a paunch after a few years of ownership ;).
If someone held a gun to my head and said "YOU WILL BUY AN SUV!" it would have to be a Macan - Turbo with launch control... A VW Micro Bus feel bigger inside though...
Yeah, I mean in terms of sporty driving and the like it is not terrible. My issue is the price of the thing. Nearly 50 grand for the base 4 cylinder model is a lot to pay, and the turbo model jumps up to nearly 80k. For that kind of money, you can buy a nicely equipped Cayenne or Audi Q7; both of which offer a 6 cylinder, offer more room, and in general feel a bit more like luxury vehicles. More to that point, as Audi\VW\Porsche has finally settled the dieselgate mess with the EPA you can find TDI versions of those vehicles-with much better fuel economy and amazing torque down low (20/29 on the Cayenne and 19/28 on the Q7 both with 406ft-lbs@1750 rpm)-new at used prices. While admittedly both are going to feel larger and less sport car like than the Macan… it is hard for me to ignore the value proposition they represent, and what you give up in sportiness you are going to gain in luxury.
Cars are going out of fashion and hybrids and SUVs are squeezing the market in a way that makes it difficult for sports cars to profit. On top of that there is no Motorsport potential for crossovers or hybrids.
Most of the worst drivers I've encountered drive SUVs. They will tailgate you and try to bully you if you're driving a sedan or a sports car. If there's a dude flashing their head beams at another driver, it's almost always an SUV. I think people buy them because it gives them a sense of feeling bigger on the road.
I agree when I drove my Accord coupe I had to battle SUV drivers to get over in lanes and speed up to get around. But when I drove a danali the extended SUV it was no resistance at all.
You know why I hate both SUVs and Crossovers? Its because they are KILLING other cars like sedans, hatchbacks, coupes, etc. Also, not that many people off-road on the streets anymore
A Subaru That Hates Existance can’t agree more it killed the crown Vic and the caprice and know it killed the impala what’s next Chrysler 300 maybe 😡😡😡😡 gotta buy me a sedan before the kill all the sedans those #%*+\ cars I hate them
I hate suvs too they're all ugly af and because of it sedans are slowly fading away. I love my 2020 Nissan Altima SR. Hope nissan Toyota and Honda never stops making CARS
@@frankmagana1408 Well you're comparing apples to oranges as both hatches and BOF SUVs have different purposes, however I hope you acknowledge the fact that most crossovers are jacked up cars/hatches/wagons and just plain stupid.
Ryad Hasan Ahmed I don’t like crossovers. I think they are atupid. Theyre heavy, underpowered, smaller than ACTUAL suvs, do t have the same capabilities as an ACTUAL SUV. I hate the crossover i think its stupid. I think if you want the space of an suv with the drivability of a car, buy a station wagon. The station takes the best qualities of both and merge then into one. The crosover the exact opposite. I will be trading in my SUV for a station wagon, although im trading an Isuzu Trooper in for an AMG wagon
I hate the crossover hype right now. It's killing the sedan/coupe/hatchback market. And it's stupid too, because something like a Honda CR-V is basically a Honda Accord chassis and engine. Same with the HR-V and the Fit... It's a stupid trend that needs to stop.
3 tonnes of vehicle to transport one person and their shortcomings seems selfish. I'm aware I generalised, only because I very often see just one wee person behind the wheel of an SUV.
Absolutely right. Station wagons are more practical, more spacious, more comfortable, more economical and better handlers. The only thing good about an SUV is that it lets everybody know that the driver is disadvantaged in the crotch department.
I Agree. I live in Melbourne Australia where every idiot mother drives one to drop off their single spoiled spawn to school. 7 out of 10 cars are now these obnoxious tall shit piles.
@@maxpowers5628 Fellow Melbournian here... One of my biggest pet peeves is being stuck behind an SUV and not being able to see what's ahead. Doesn't help that SUV drivers also happen to be the same dickshits who cut me off most often...
I never understood the appeal and I am American. Most of what the SUV was trying to solve already had solutions long before the SUV became a thing: Station wagons, vans, mini vans, pickups, sedans, etc. I imagine the SUV is a vehicle that tries to be jack of all trades but master of none.
SUV'S all look the same.....a brick or a reverse teardrop. BOOOOORING. Plus, they cost a but load of cash for maintenance. Give me a nice comfy roomy sedan anyday.
sedans and hatches are what people need. Suvs make the road more unsafe for everyone. also pick ups and suvs are just so uncomfortable to drive in my opinion. parking is a headache and body roll doesn't scream luxury to me. make me want to puke everytime i go around a corner in my company's diesel pickup
I pick up my child with a mini cooper convertible, among a fleet of 7 seaters where people fight for a spot to get in to the curb near school, keep their 6 liter engine on and need at least 3 times attempt to get in a parking spot. Its a nice school so these are always the newest mercedes and land rovers or X6Ms. I feel my soul is freed from that extra amount of doors and unoccupied seats. In this modern age BIG means GOOD except they are not good at anything.
I'm an American and I'd take a regular sedan or a hatchback any day over one of those overpriced wastes of space and money, the same goes for most pick-up trucks these days too. - They cost too much - They don't hold their value over time - They cost more to repair because they are so big - They guzzle gas like crazy - They handle like a tank and aren't fun to drive - They can't handle corners very well, unless you go super slow, or else they roll - They take up too much space in park spaces - They obscure vision of other cars because they're so big (Ever tried backing out of parking spot with an SUV parked next to you? You can't see shit, better hope and pray someone isn't distracted on their phone or kiss your quarter-panel goodbye) - They're even going to start making these "Compact" SUV's now. WHY NOT JUST BY A SMALLER CAR THAN, YOU IDIOTS?!?!?!?! - And the worst part is, if you're like me and you hate SUV's, you're running out of options are far as manufactures goes. More and more companies are abandoning there regular cars for this stupid SUV trend, just like what Ford and GM are doing. Even Luxury brands like Cadillac, BMW and Mercedes-Benz are getting in on it, and even exotic car brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini as well, it doesn't make any sense. I'm beginning to believe the story that people buy big cars to over-compensate for something, if you know what I mean. and if you're a women that has one, i'm sorry to break the news to you, but trading in your old mini-van for an SUV isn't fooling anyone, you're still a soccer mom
I agree with you on these! One "reason" that really annoys me is when people say "Oh I like the extra ride height and I feel safe!" It's *only a feeling* of safety and it doesn't mean you're actually safer. Like you mentioned, there's extra body roll and a higher chance of flipping over and it is really worth the extra cost?
Most suvs have less space actually than a station wagon. Your forester is not actually an suv, it.s an allroader, which is a station wagon with some offroad capabilities :)
Trust me I know, my saturn LW200 had twice the cargo capacity of a lot of newer crossovers and had the benefit of being lower to the ground so I could put stuff in the back more easily without hitting my knees.
I pulled in to a restaurant the other day and there was like 7 of these SUV's in a row, I had to park my corvette next to them just to break up the monotony. SUV's are so boring , dull and monotonous!!
Best vid of the day🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻.... they handle like shit and cost a ton to maintain!!! The BASE Escalade STARTS at like 75,000 or something like that 6 figures for a suv..... FUCK THAT.... with a big pointy stick!!!
I think this is one of your best videos yet. I hate SUV's and being stuck behind them... ugh you can't see what ahead in traffic unless you move over to the The edge of the lane. Being parked in between them is the worst. Loved the little rats comment. Please more rants as you're voicing what we think too!
^This, You can't see shit infront of you, if it's night and a SUV is in the back they blind because there lights almost at the same height as your mirrors(I drive hatchback).
I've considered buying an SUV (Macan) for my next car. I currently drive an F30 3 series (which isn't a super low sports car), but a lot of times I just can't see what's going on in traffic because of the sea of crossovers and SUVs blocking my visibility. I can't imagine what it's like driving an F430 that's another 8" lower than my car. If I had a nickel for every time I've gotten horn blasted when I can't make a right turn because I can't see over the hood of the F150 or Suburban next to me...
I hate SUVs/crossovers. being behind them on the road sucks, and most of the people that drive them are shit drivers. they're just 4 door hatchbacks that are higher up off the ground , those Honda CRVs, Nissan Muranos, Ford Escapes etc are awful man , all of them. any family of 4 can get by just fine with a sedan or wagon, if its a family of 5+ then get a minivan. but these crossover SUVs spread like cancer
It’s a horrible middle class arms race. These stupid SUV owners like to get a better view of the road than other cars while selfishly stealing the safety and forward vision of all other smaller vehicles on the road. It also allows the incompetent aggressive mother to force her sociopathic way into traffic to drop her repulsive pedestal spawn off to school 2km down the road from their middle class house.
Totally agree with your opinion on these monstrosities of the motoring world. I live in a small Spanish town and proper 4 wheel drive vehicles have always been the farmers choice as there is some really rough terrain around here - but the actual roads are very good so a saloon car or nice hatchback is the perfect vehicle for normal use, so why there are so many SUV's here is hard to understand. The smaller ones are not so bad but I hate the huge Audi and Mercedes which are very common here now. The most infuriating thing is they take up 2 parking bays.
Porsche SUV is a joke, 6 figure to buy , after a few years they're only worth 54 figures. They're ugly, inefficient, and people who drive them seem to be entitled af, parking on pedestrian crossings, not moving off at green lights because they're scrolling on insta or facebooking.
You know how you feel about minivans? That’s what SUVs will be like probably inside of a decade from now. Heck, most practically are minivans. “But they have hinged doors!” Oh.. just like the Mazda MPV and original Honda Odyssey. “But they have AWD!” Just like almost every minivan ever made was available with.. plus some that had real 4WD like the Astro, Safari, and MPV.. and some even with low range and locking diffs like the Delica. “But they are based on a truck platform so they are stronger.” Sure.. some SUVs are still truck based like the Durango and Tahoe. But most are actually based on a unibody car platform and have the same FWD running gear with an AWD system added on. And the Ford Aerostar, GM Astro and Safari, and Mazda MPV were all truck based, too. Heck.. the Ford Escape and Ecosport are literally just tall versions of the Focus and Fiesta. That’s it! If you drive one of these.. you are immediately labeled as a soccer mom or a Karen. I don’t care who you are. You aren’t cool.
I drive a compact SUV and I love it, but I agree with you immensely on those monstrosities that sit higher than a pickup truck. Honestly those individuals who drive those giant coffins on wheels are stupid and mad. Driving those monstrosities make up for their lack of chromosomes and everyone who drives them in a congested city are fools.
only 1 think worse than an SUV... a front wheel drive only SUV.... errrggg. SUV owners are the ones that park in no-stopping zones in front of school crossings, so people can't see the kids crossing... ffs
I also hate them. SUV is the worst car trend ever. I am from Europe and SUVs are terrible in old Europe cities - there is really very little place for parking and people are not able to park wiht them correctly, and also on small Europe roads - people with SUVs are really very dangerous for other drivers. SUV driver is like incalculable killer. It is just US trend, but in US are absolutely different road parameters than in Europe.
I am and always be a sedan guy. I will not part with my lincoln town car and If I ever do get another car, its going to be a used sedan like a buick park avenue, cadillac deville, Crown Victoria, ect. Essentially when sedans were made for comfort and ride quality with no frills attached. Bring back the age of the landboat! until that happens, I will boycott this crossover epidemic by never buying any of the newer cars out there, even the used ones.
I also hate SUVs for the classic line I hear from every SUV owner that they bought it for practicality and space. Classic example, a co-worker got a mid-sized SUV (here in Germany at least) for its "trunk space" similar time my Dad got a 3 year old Audi A4, what had more Space in the Trunk? The A4. what had more Power? The A4. What was newer and had WAY better Standard equipment? The A4. What Cost more to Buy? The SUV (sadly can't remember what SUV it was because I know too many people with the damn things) Oh, plus the A4 has all-wheel drive and the SUV doesn't. Point is they are hugely Overpriced for what you get and even when People get real SUVs that are capable of actual offroading they don't even USE IT. It literally seems to me that everyone is either Lying to themselves and that they actually just bought it because it looks expensive and as a Status symbol OR no one actually fucking understands the real use of an SUV.
I like real SUVs and proper luxury SUVs what I don't like are these fake SUVs that can't even go off road, have no style or substance or anything at all worthwhile. I also hate how 95% of people who buy these ugly heaps have no reason to at all and are killing off the normal hatchback equivilants.
I hate SUVs too. Unfortunately they are a necessity for me but I still can't stand them. I actually liked the older SUVs like the Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4 because they were small. But these tanks on the road today??? NO!
I hate SUVs because they block my view, and make it so unsafe to get out of a parking spot when both my sides are blocked by SUVs. I had to install x3 cameras on the rear bumper so that I could see L+R when backing out. I also hate those who buy SUVs, because they don't buy SUVs for practical reasons but they buy them because EVERYONE DRIVES SUV. I have never seen a skilled driver driving an SUV.
I hate suvs so much although i like the crv,the grand cherrokee, the highlander and a couple other ones.but i think most suvs are a piece of crap.minivans and sedans are much better.
They are terrible. They are miserable to drive. They handle terrible, they follow every rut in the road, they have terrible economy, they aren’t that practical with their cut rooflines. Suvs are terrible. You want versatility, get a sports car and a minivan.
thanks to SOME manufacturers now most car companies are reduced to boring crossover suvs i wish mitsubishi snapped out of it and went back to it's performance routes again
Lemme see Chrysler has been reduced to a bloody pulp mitsubishi has been turned into a bloody pulp pontiac died but dodge is still trucking gm and ford are about to be reduced to a bloody pulp most car brands are now reduced to crossover bloody pulps is this the end of full body big SUVS , sedans and coupes? Edit: Chrysler is a bloody pulp thanks to fiat
Another reason people are now buying SUVs: safety. These dudes' nowadays logic is bigger car equals safer, why bother buying a SUV with tons of safety features while you can get them in a midsize car for less money? Also, due to the high center of gravity of SUVs they are prone to rollover, ik that these modern safety assists can prevent SUVs from rolling over, but still kinda dumb.
I realised that people who bought SUV buy them for no reason! you can buy a stationwagon and it will do the same job! take for instance the impreza stationwagon and the crosstrek it's the same car but the crosstrek has a higher stance!
If you have 6 children and want off road capabilities then maybe some suvs might have a little bit more sense but still who has 6 children nowadays and goes offroading with them. You just simply buy an mpv like chrysler pacifica or honda odyssey
The minivan is almost dead too. The Caravan, Odyssey, and Sienna are (are almost) a decade old with no significant changes. Same with the Charger, and the Impala had pretty much zero changes over 7 production years. I have a 2019 and the only thing different from a 2014 is like 5 hp, some colour options, and Apple Car Play.
Crossovers used to be cool in the late 90s and the 00s. Nowadays they are cool no more. I’m the kind that likes large roomy and fast sedans such as the Infiniti Q70L 5.6X.
Normal Guy Supercar I currently drive a 2008 Infiniti M35X and it has ample trunk space and I love that VQ35DE engine. I used to have a 2004 Lexus RX330 which is a pretty futuristic looking crossover comfortable to drive, decent power, but boring to drive. I’m glad I have defected from the SUV cult and made to a switch to a sedan and I feel so glad I switched. So much better handling, acceleration, and appearance. Also the Bose sound system in my Infiniti just flat out negates the need for an aftermarket sound system and the factory Bose 10 inch shallow mount subwoofer has good deep bass.
Wait, Hold on! ... So Ferrari is building an SUV? I admit I'm a tad lost after the 355, but an SUV? Weren't they all "Aw, HELL No!"? I'm sure it will sell, sell, sell, though... A Ferrari SUV is some serious bling... The Lambo is a bit too Aztec-ey for me. I get the angular thing, but it is like the MINI Countryman... Just hooking an air compressor to one of your cars and blowing it up into an SUV doesn't usually work so well. Love how MINI just put on a 4X size badge to make the car look smaller... "Does this badge make me look fat?" f
I have noticed, only uneducated/idiotic fools love suvs and keep buying them. All the intelligent adults prefer sedans, wagons, hatchbacks, coupes. Suvs are just so inefficient, ugly, boring, dangerous, and impractical, with nothing positivr about them. Get in an accident while inside them, you gonna be upside down, broken, and rushed into a trauma room. I rather drive a minivan, because at least they have a purpose which is practicality. Only suv I ever actually like are Jeep Wranglers 2 dr and Ford Broncos. Will be keeping my wagon
It's always been my point: SUVs are a total nonsense. Bear in mind I'm speaking from a European point of view, as here we don't have the massive-truck-like vehicles like Tahoe that you have in the States. But anyway, my favorite example is Audi that here is so common. I mean, for the same amount of money of an Audi SUV you can have an Audi Estate, with the same nice "Quattro" 4WD system, the same fuc*ing space, BETTER fuel economy and BETTER handling. Because you can't bend physics come on. But here we have plenty of morons that buy BMWs X6, that basically is... a tall coupé. With NO SPACE. A total nonsense. And beyond that... here on the other side of the pond we have plenty of 2WD SUVs.. so not even the usual sentence "yeah I like go skiing on the Alps in winter" makes sense. I actually think my SUV rant can be bigger than yours :D
Lmao the Tahoe is small for my taste. I’ll take the Suburban. You people hate on SUVs because most of you don’t own them. They carry more, are more luxurious, spacious, and you don’t feel every bump on the road.
OD786 Dro You also will be stopping at every gas station and handle like a small boat around corners. There’s no point in driving such a large vehicle if you don’t have the need for one.
Not to mention european parking spots are not adapted to the huge ass cars, roads aren't as wide and to make it worse people who drive them the to want to push me off the road and drive in the middle of the road. They are the definition of idiocy. I spend 30 mins traffic each day for a drive that is no more than 20km... Most cars only carry a single person this just daft. Having huge ass cars that act like they're king of the road is intimidating and useless.
@@oli.2844 you must love jarring and nauseating rides, neck and back pains after 20 minutes ride, stopping at petrol stations everyday, mashing the pedal just to barely keep up with traffic, poor handling, dreadful braking, inability to park correctly, rolling over your vehicle, and going to repair shops often. You have a really bad taste. Glad I got rid of that pos 2010 Suburban and bought a Golf GTI instead
My first car that I own in my life is a 2015 Honda Fit EX, 6 speed manual and I have to say those cars may lack in power but for cornering and a bit of customization it's a blast! But sadly in the future of this world SUV's are here to stay for a while. They are so fucking useless and always feel disconnected on the road to drive... Mitsubishi already gave up and switch their car lineup (Besides the Mirage) ENTIRELY with shitty SUV's and put the eclipse name on one of em, fucking abysmal. Next car will be 10+ years old and with a Manual for sure. Cheep to buy and own!
Not even. Go look at dash cam videos. There are more than a few examples of the big full size SUV hitting a small car. Instead of destroying it, the tire of the SUV climbs it, and then the SUV rolls-sometimes multiple times. If you have an older “stronger” SUV.. the roof will probably collapse. Ford Excusions for example had notoriously bad rollover performance. Meanwhile the sum total damage to the small car is a bent C pillar and busted hatch glass with a few scuffs and scrapes.
Oh...you Europeans are fucked too just like us Americans. I heard that a lot of MPVs (or minivans here in the States) and some wagons are getting replaced by crossovers. The Modus, Meriva, C3 Picasso, Ulysse, Espace amongst other has been either replaced by SUVs or turn into crossovers, and many more companies there are following suit.
Not to forget wagons. I know they are less popular in the us but in europe they are a very good alternative to suvs. Faster, cheaper, with better fuel range and very often, a larger boot.
Says the man with the most overpriced and overhyped piece of junk in the garage! (Obviously not the Ferrari) Also you had no real arguments. You only said that they are stupid and that kids are brats. Also the looks are extremely subjective, and thus it can not be used as a valid argument. On another note, who gives a shit if companies like Porsche make an suv? All it does is allow for the company to continue trading and making your beloved coupes and sedans.
I don't hate full size SUVs, I hate crossovers, they are just wagons on stilts that look like shit. if you get an SUV with a third row, you aren't convincing anybody that it is any better than a minivan because its not. you're compensating for your own children and sacrificing practicality in the process. If you would argue that SUVs are safer than a regular car, that may have been true twenty years ago, but now it is not necessarily the case. An SUV marketing strategy does not make your car on stilts an SUV, it is still just a car.
You know what the #1 thing about SUVs that boils my blood is? The whole draw to "high seating position." What actual purpose does a seat that sits essentially straight up and down that places your rear end 3 feet off the ground and your head mere inches from the ceiling serve? Why do people like the concept so much? Why do people intentionally go out and buy cars just because of this?!?
I can tell you right now that's a joke. My parents own an Explorer (not even the body-on-frame one, the new bloated taurus one...) and even with the seats set up right, I can see much better out of my Legacy Wagon than the Explorer. It's nothing but an ego booster for women who don't want to be seen as the soccer moms they actually are.
I literally can see better out of my Golf GTI and Kia Soul than a fucking pos chevy traverse or suburban, and have a much more better seating position. People that make that excuse are just stupid and have no knowledge of human anatomy or ergonomics. Everytime I get out of an even 20 min ride in any suv, my neck and back is sore and hurts like a bitch, but I am fine after a 12 hour drive in a Mazda MX5. People making that claim are just chasing to protect their fragile ego
I can’t imagine ever agreeing more on anything than what this guy has just said. Even if you told me the sky is blue, I’d say what he said is even more certain. Heavy, large, rounded off bricks are hardly reinventing the wheel for comfort, looks or practicality. THEY SUCK - mobile RSJs every one of them. Driving a low-slung car like my Impreza, I can’t see past the dickhead ahead of me who brakes like they have foot-Tourette’s. Next to one at the lights, they’ll try to burn me away on a green, not realising that their mpg which is already bad, will sink below mine, even when my motor is pre-millennium. Imagine their motor in my car...... whoosh. I shake my head at the prick who barrels down the highway at a ton in a Range Rover or a ‘Disco’ (very apt nic - they take up the room of a disco). These are bad times for the environment people, and doing 12mpg isnt going the right way, Porsche, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley and ........ Ferrari!??? But it’s not just those gas-guzzler brands, it’s the whole damn lot of em🙄 Here are some irrefutable facts about SUVs compared to ‘normal’ saloons: Heavy. Burn more gas. Tyres cost waaaay more. Scantly more load space. Harder to park, without cameras in our already crowded streets. Huge coefficient of drag. All look the same at any given price bracket. Handle like boats. Make the road more dangerous for unpowered forms of transport, you know using your own legs(?), and finally look no more attractive. There’ll be a load of haters coming my way, but they just be haters period. Look at the crap in your eye before pointing at speck in mine. Yeah I drive a scoob, but I do 120 miles riding to work a week in between. There is one good thing about them though, sales of em are greaaaaaat for the motor industry. Oh and they’re probably good to hide behind in a shootout! ua-cam.com/video/7zirsPnmwMY/v-deo.html
Ban SUVs ! If someone wants to own a 4x4 , he/she should issue an offroad license ! And that not many drive offroad ! Also most SUVs are not made to offroad ! Speaking of crossovers , they are just lifted MUVs with fake SUV type looks abd an AWD rather than a 4x4 with low range ! I would rather have an AWD wagon! Also it's just useless when brands like alfa romeo , lamborghini , ferrari who are especially known for making performance oriented cars are forced to make SUVs qhich are basically lifted hatchbacks and are super useless !
I like the oldschool suvs like 89 cherokee, 87 pathfinder. .that serve their purpose as an all terrain utility vehicle that is fun to drive, simple, small, and dont cost arm and a leg. I live along an unpaved sandy road in south tex where i need one to commute where a regular car will get stuck hopelessly. Only real suvs being produced today would be the Defender 90 and Jeep. Others are just bullshit monstrosities that serve no purpose other than status symbols or a donk-truck if an aged used vehicle
Normal Guy Supercar my homeboy got his Traverse stuck in the sand road front of my house and i had to winch him out with my Jeep. Roads suck ass here. Good luck driving a suburban around
Most modern 'SUVs' cannot go offroad. Their customers who own one think they're adventurous and active outdoorsy lifestyle.
The worst part is when they boast that their box on stilts is awd and act like they can offroad.
Most of them aren’t made for that
The worst part is that SUVs block the view of the driver in a car at T-Junctions.
@@petersmith2040 great point
This is why i want gas prices to go up. Remember when the has prices rose back in 2008 and all the small d hummer driving betas stopped driving them.

Yes...this will kill SUV ...
I'm rooting for the ayatollahs in Iran to block the Strait of Hormuz.
Here's the problem with compact and full-size parking spaces. What are your thoughts on the macan turbo?

While admittedly both are going to feel larger and less sport car like than the Macan… it is hard for me to ignore the value proposition they represent, and what you give up in sportiness you are going to gain in luxury.
suburbans then giant navigator
Cars are going out of fashion and hybrids and SUVs are squeezing the market in a way that makes it difficult for sports cars to profit. On top of that there is no Motorsport potential for crossovers or hybrids.
SUV are the best! The new G Wagon is the best of all of them! Luxurious and good looking too! Win, win!
G wagon is nothing like any of the other suvs he listed, the G wagon can actually go off road. It's still very overpriced though and ruined by posers
Yes! They don't even have half the hatchbacks available here in the US compared to Europe... And I love hatches!
I don't think SUVs kill coupes and other niche cars, like sports cars. Sedans? May be, partially. Japanese sedans still sell well though
I mean mainly the US sedan rivals: Charger, Taurus, and Impala, 300, Continental, and LaCrosse
A Subaru That Hates Existance can’t agree more it killed the crown Vic and the caprice and know it killed the impala what’s next Chrysler 300 maybe 😡😡😡😡 gotta buy me a sedan before the kill all the sedans those #%*+\ cars I hate them
That's why wagons lose their grip on a market
A midsize sedan makes a lot more sense for most people
Yes.
volvo s60!
Normal Guy Supercar If I had my way I’d pit maneuver every SUV!
I hate suvs too they're all ugly af and because of it sedans are slowly fading away. I love my 2020 Nissan Altima SR. Hope nissan Toyota and Honda never stops making CARS
@Ethan Pae Camry TRD is badass af. I would have gotten that instead of my altima sr if I knew about it last year
Hatch backs are better than SUVs
Totally agree!
Even a typical midsizer sedan ie Toyota Camry is better than an SUV.
I own a hatchback, and an suv, and the suv is waaaaaaaaaay better. And no its not one of those shitty crossovers its an actual body on frame suv
Amen. I know right now people are saying "Save the manuals" but we may need to "Save the cars" first.
Apparently, Ford is about to stop producing the Fusion and Taurus to concentrate on SUVs and crossovers. I'm shaking my head...
@@paulkrgaful And now GM will discontinue many of their sedans too
@@ChuiStrong Western indulgence just keeps getting better, doesn't it?
3 tonnes of vehicle to transport one person and their shortcomings seems selfish. I'm aware I generalised, only because I very often see just one wee person behind the wheel of an SUV.
That is pretty common.
Absolutely right. Station wagons are more practical, more spacious, more comfortable, more economical and better handlers. The only thing good about an SUV is that it lets everybody know that the driver is disadvantaged in the crotch department.
LOL!
Its mostly women that drive the stupid things.
Hahaha!
“Shove your little rats in the back....” lolol
I thought he said brats
I never understood the appeal and I am American. Most of what the SUV was trying to solve already had solutions long before the SUV became a thing: Station wagons, vans, mini vans, pickups, sedans, etc. I imagine the SUV is a vehicle that tries to be jack of all trades but master of none.
SUV'S all look the same.....a brick or a reverse teardrop. BOOOOORING. Plus, they cost a but load of cash for maintenance. Give me a nice comfy roomy sedan anyday.
Hi Daniel, could not agree more I hate SUV’s with a passion keep up the good work.
sedans and hatches are what people need.
I couldn’t agree with you more and I’m absolutely getting sick of this shit. Now we have a Mustang SUV which not a Mustang let’s be honest.
I'm an American and I'd take a regular sedan or a hatchback any day over one of those overpriced wastes of space and money, the same goes for most pick-up trucks these days too.
- They cost too much
- They don't hold their value over time
- They cost more to repair because they are so big
- They guzzle gas like crazy
- They handle like a tank
and aren't fun to drive
- They can't handle corners very well, unless you go super slow, or else they roll
- They take up too much space in park spaces
- They obscure vision of other cars because they're so big (Ever tried backing out of parking spot with an SUV parked next to you? You can't see shit, better hope and pray someone isn't distracted on their phone or kiss your quarter-panel goodbye)
- They're even going to start making these "Compact" SUV's now.
Yup
I agree with you on these! One "reason" that really annoys me is when people say "Oh I like the extra ride height and I feel safe!"
It's *only a feeling* of safety and it doesn't mean you're actually safer. Like you mentioned, there's extra body roll and a higher chance of flipping over and it is really worth the extra cost?
They need to bring back station wagons, those cars were cool.
Yes
Most suvs have less space actually than a station wagon. Your forester is not actually an suv, it.s an allroader, which is a station wagon with some offroad capabilities :)
the old forester has that definition, not the new one!
Yup. Just driving around it's almost like seeing cars is rare now.
What color corvette?
@@pa4o93ir49 Royal blue
They're perfect for the carbon-copy suburbs lol. Were you at the olive garden? That'd be perfect.
I agree they have killed the hot hatch industry. And I love my hot hatch. Witch I used to get all my wood for my deck. So it is practical.
Exactly! Hot Hatch cars are SOOOOO fun and very practical. We will always own one.
I wouldn't contribute to the problem.
Hey better safe than sorry. Right turns are absolute no huge deal unless the light is **actually** green. Fuck those asses, make them wait.
SUVs are big stupid and a waste of space and resources
Yup.
Yes exactly
Dude u took so many jabs at kids, had me dying. "Rats and brats". Lol
LOL yup.
Porsche SUV is a joke, 6 figure to buy , after a few years they're only worth 54 figures. They're ugly, inefficient, and people who drive them seem to be entitled af, parking on pedestrian crossings, not moving off at green lights because they're scrolling on insta or facebooking.
Agreed
Bro! u r saying straight facts, i also loathe SUVs. They just take away the spirit of Driving and Beauty of Cars.
Yes indeed
You know how you feel about minivans?
That’s what SUVs will be like probably inside of a decade from now.
Heck, most practically are minivans.
“But they have hinged doors!”
Oh.. just like the Mazda MPV and original Honda Odyssey.
“But they have AWD!”
Just like almost every minivan ever made was available with.. plus some that had real 4WD like the Astro, Safari, and MPV.. and some even with low range and locking diffs like the Delica.
“But they are based on a truck platform so they are stronger.”
Sure.. some SUVs are still truck based like the Durango and Tahoe.
Yup!
If I’m spending money I’m spending it on a sport car. SUVs are so terrible looking
Agreed
only 1 think worse than an SUV... a front wheel drive only SUV.... errrggg. SUV owners are the ones that park in no-stopping zones in front of school crossings, so people can't see the kids crossing... ffs
Lol yes
I always hated them for some reason
I hate Suvs too and trucks
yes! and I hate BMW drivers to
I also hate them.
You are a hero keeping sedans alive. 😁
SUVs don't deserve the name Ferrari or Lamborghini on them. It's disgusting
The only thing worse than an SUV is a cross over.
True. At least commit to being a SUV
If you get a crossover, you clearly don't give a damn about driving experience, so why not get a sedan with better mpg.
The crv is of the oldest and probably the best suvs. Not too big and is fun to drive imo
@@Tj-uc5sx crvs are useless!
Because they are retarded
And they block the view too like a big ole truck
Also true. Another reason they suck.
Also, try backing out of parking spot in a sedan between two SUVs.
I think minivans are pretty good there better than SUVs
In a way, yes. They are designed to be a family vehicle... And at least their doors don't slam into other cars as easily.
That Bentley is the ugliest and the most expensive shit ever seen! Porsche SUVs are total garbage too!
I despise SUVs. I LOVE YOU, MAN!
Haha thanks
Yup exactly. SUVs are giant ugly wastes of money.
Most people are lying to themselves. Lying to themselves that they're cool, hip middle aged adults.
You sir are a gentleman and scholar..this video is so spot on..
Haha thanks
I like real SUVs and proper luxury SUVs what I don't like are these fake SUVs that can't even go off road, have no style or substance or anything at all worthwhile. I also hate how 95% of people who buy these ugly heaps have no reason to at all and are killing off the normal hatchback equivilants.
Yup
I hate SUVs too. Unfortunately they are a necessity for me but I still can't stand them. I actually liked the older SUVs like the Honda CRV and Toyota Rav4 because they were small. But these tanks on the road today??? NO!
Yeah, the first SUVs were actually somewhat reasonable but now they are just road tanks.
They are the default vehicle now
People buy suvs in an effort to look wealthy and interesting.
I hate them because I always see a damn women in one that can't put her phone down and they can't drive!
I hate that too
Women in a SUV, i keep my distance at least 1 miles lol
I'm gonna buy a third gen MR2, if one of these buggers hits me I'm gonna fucking die because these stupid ugly shitboxes weigh more than a small moon.
Sadly true
you can’t talk about looks when you drive a mini cooper 💀 😭
😂😂😂
The only place modern suvs deserve to be in the the junk yard or demolition durby
How about melted down and recycled into a sedan?
😂
They wouldn't even be good for that. First impact, and they both roll. End of destruction derby
I hate suvs so much although i like the crv,the grand cherrokee, the highlander and a couple other ones.but i think most suvs are a piece of crap.minivans and sedans are much better.
Hatchbacks FTW.
They are terrible. They are miserable to drive. They handle terrible, they follow every rut in the road, they have terrible economy, they aren’t that practical with their cut rooflines.
Suvs are terrible. You want versatility, get a sports car and a minivan.
Yup
Part of my hatred for these garbage wagons is how I associate SUVs to your typical run of the mill Karen
True
thanks to SOME manufacturers now most car companies are reduced to boring crossover suvs i wish mitsubishi snapped out of it and went back to it's performance routes again
Yes it's a sad state for us gearheads.
Someone with common sense.
Thanks
Another reason people are now buying SUVs: safety. These dudes' nowadays logic is bigger car equals safer, why bother buying a SUV with tons of safety features while you can get them in a midsize car for less money? Also, due to the high center of gravity of SUVs they are prone to rollover, ik that these modern safety assists can prevent SUVs from rolling over, but still kinda dumb.
I hate SUVs and the stupid people who buy them.
Lol
SUV stands for STUPID UGLY VEHICLES
Lol yup
I realised that people who bought SUV buy them for no reason!
you can buy a stationwagon and it will do the same job!
take for instance the impreza stationwagon and the crosstrek it's the same car but the crosstrek has a higher stance!
Yup
If you have 6 children and want off road capabilities then maybe some suvs might have a little bit more sense but still who has 6 children nowadays and goes offroading with them. You just simply buy an mpv like chrysler pacifica or honda odyssey
Agreed. The SUVs killed Chevy Impala! Good thing the minivan is still around, as well as the Dodge Charger. Talk about MH(Money-hungrys)
Yup
The minivan is almost dead too. The Caravan, Odyssey, and Sienna are (are almost) a decade old with no significant changes.
Same with the Charger, and the Impala had pretty much zero changes over 7 production years. I have a 2019 and the only thing different from a 2014 is like 5 hp, some colour options, and Apple Car Play.
Crossovers used to be cool in the late 90s and the 00s. Nowadays they are cool no more. I’m the kind that likes large roomy and fast sedans such as the Infiniti Q70L 5.6X.
I'm just sad about how many SUVs are sold now.
There are station wagons from the 80s and 90s that get better gas mileage and have more cargo space than so many of these SUVs and Crossovers.
Yeah, cause they don't weigh as much as a full size truck.
"Does this badge make me look fat?" f
ferrari is so against "defacing" their cars but then they have this shit coming out which is basically an 812 stretched upwards
Dan. I’m in total agreement.
But i love led lights shining in my mirrors
Lol
5 years later and SUVs still suck
Lol yup
The best part about SUVs is anything you hit is GUARANTEED to be totaled..... yay....
Pretty much.
Maybe this is why I am glad to be European, but yeah SUV's are horrible. They are also prone to flipping over by being so tall.
Yup, terrible handling, giant, gas guzzling, eye sores.
Yes wagons are badass too
Says the man with the most overpriced and overhyped piece of junk in the garage! (Obviously not the Ferrari)
Also you had no real arguments. You only said that they are stupid and that kids are brats. Also the looks are extremely subjective, and thus it can not be used as a valid argument.
On another note, who gives a shit if companies like Porsche make an suv? All it does is allow for the company to continue trading and making your beloved coupes and sedans.
#SUVSuck
Yes!
Because "I can see better" supposedly...
Ferrari!??? But it’s not just those gas-guzzler brands, it’s the whole damn lot of em🙄
Here are some irrefutable facts about SUVs compared to ‘normal’ saloons: Heavy.
Stupid Users Vehicles
I like that.
SUV suck. I read about SUV and some people like sitting up higher.
I think our garage speaks for itself ;). I do wish I had a dollar every time people ask "where's your SUV? ". They feel like you're taxing a 737...
No hate here, you are 100% correct, right on!
Haha thanks
I like the oldschool suvs like 89 cherokee, 87 pathfinder. .that serve their purpose as an all terrain utility vehicle that is fun to drive, simple, small, and dont cost arm and a leg. I live along an unpaved sandy road in south tex where i need one to commute where a regular car will get stuck hopelessly. Only real suvs being produced today would be the Defender 90 and Jeep. Others are just bullshit monstrosities that serve no purpose other than status symbols or a donk-truck if an aged used vehicle
Pretty much. The old school jeeps are pretty cool. Especially if they are actually being used offroad.
Normal Guy Supercar my homeboy got his Traverse stuck in the sand road front of my house and i had to winch him out with my Jeep. Roads suck ass here. Good luck driving a suburban around
@@normalguysupercar yes
Not all SUV’s are bad and not all of them are crap for gas milage
Kia and Volvo have made SUV’s that are really good and don’t consume a lot
Yo do you know what's even worse than the copy past CUVs/SUVs? Curved back crossovers (Coupe Suv like a BMW X6)
Ah yes
