Fascinating piece from a multi-coloured personality for piano-sorcerers.

Strange and beautiful. Modern in structure but the elements seen to be borrowed from earlier times. Lugansky is crystal clear as ever and it's no wonder the composer/conductor chose him to perform it.
I have never seen Lugansky so concentrated, although I know he said that it took him a long time to get able to play this piece. By the way he is the first who played the piano part after author himself (in 1984).
I'm quite shure there is, but I never heard it, I just know it took place in Minsk, Belarus Republic. Perhaps it's still left unedited in a kind of media-archive out there, maybe you'll get lucky in searching and publishing it here, all the MVP fans will be more than grateful, no doubt.
How fascinating I find this piece to be. To memorize a piece and play it in front of its composer, that is most daunting and fearsome task for every pianist. Well done, Lugansky.

Leider habe ich dieses berauschende Konzert nicht miterlebt , es hätte ja zeitnahe geschehen können : selbst als Solistin in der Kölner Philharmonie mit zwei Welt Uraufführungen auftretend (2002) ! Aber faszinierend der Komponist, Dirigent sowie der Interpret in dieser mitreißenden Aufnahme!

Really long for a Capriccio ! 13th minute has slow section sounds like 2 piano played so senitive to timbre is Pletnev's writing and Lugansky's playing !24th minute really sounds like Bartok 2nd concerto brass and timpani influence yet Pletnev Ive never seen or heard play any Bartok .Great music performed by two great pianists and one who conducts fulltime ! Lugansky is beautiful but the Flute player hasa beautiful face too !

Fantastic but must have taken Nikolai ages to learn.
The film seems to be one that West German broadcasting in Cologne made, so wouldn't be sure this in Russia and also Nikolai looks older than suggested. Not speaking with him for a while but I'll try to remember to ask him about it.
