Empathy is putting yourself in another's situation.... feeling what they're feeling. And then you can be genuine in your reaction to that situation. Sometimes it's just "being there" and being silent. Sometimes it's crying with them. Sometimes it's holding them and whispering loving/heartfelt words. Sometimes it's praying heartfelt prayers. There's NO judgement. There's NO advice. There's just being there in the moment. Sometimes you sense what they need before they even know..
It's being Jesus' loving arms for someone that needs them...
    It has NO agenda.

Empathy is the ability to put aside one's own biases, prejudices, & pre-programmed mindsets in order to walk in another person's truth & reality. It is the highest form of love which humans can aspire to achieve. Empathy is pure love, grace, mercy, justice, kindness, generosity, forgiveness, patience, honesty, & humility of self. 🕊️🌎💚

Really great speech and insight. "Toxic empathy" and hijacked compassion are exactly like enabling; after all, society wouldn't say it's loving/empathetic/compassionate to supply a drug addict with drugs or an alcoholic with booze or a gambler with lottery tickets. That affirmation is so obviously not love -- it's the same thing with these culture issues today. God bless, Allie!

Empathy helps you to bond and make others feel seen because you don't have all the perspectives. But people can try to take advantage of one's empathy as well as kindness, generousity and love. Empathy however is just one good quality of a loving person, you need more. I just don't understand how someone can be too empathetic but instead there's a lack in other area like the person is biased and unjust.

Exactly, as a Christian myself, when I’ve needed empathy and validation from the church when there’s been abuse in church and in my home…there’s a huge lack of empathy or compassion for me and I haven’t been doing anything illegal or sinful. I’ve been to many churches and it’s been the same over and over. The church lacks compassion and love and empathy in general. If the church doesn’t care about those in it either then there’s a big problem. We have to figure out how to care for those in the world too without compromising our beliefs. But this push to not be empathetic is not of Jesus. If people don’t like the word empathy then the church could focus on being more loving…they aren’t that either. Are Christians for apathy? In my experience Christian’s are very apathetic. We need a focus on compassion and care for the hurting rather than so much focus on resisting people. The church lacks love and compassion and don’t realize they will be judged for that also. Of course we need to stand for truth but in my experience people in churches don’t seek to find the truth…or understanding of how someone got to where they are…they don’t listen or have any love to hear the hurting so they can help. They want everyone to appear a certain way and act a certain way (extra biblical ways). That is more important than loving others to them.

@@jrbontje2415 I agree even though there are many christians who also care about empathy. This truth over empathy does not apply because they don't need to be polar opposites. Mostly in life we are not in the court trying to convict or free a person based on charges but people rather seek to be heard and seen. Nothing wrong with having opinions but mostly people in need of a listener don't need opinions and directions. Ofc there are situation where wrongdoing needs to be addressed and even judged and I want to believe not many people would say that you just need to be empathetic towards someone who is a murderer and let that go.

  • @dragonhold4
    @dragonhold4 13 днів тому

(3:37) _The truth is empathy in itself is neither good nor bad. It is taking on the feelings of someone else, putting yourself in their shoes. It can be helpful in understanding a person's position and plight but it is not necessary. ... It is not the same thing as love which is seeking the best interest of a person. Empathy takes on someone's feelings. Now that can lead you to compassion or love or it can lead you to stupidity and even cruelty. Taking on the feelings of others can blind us to truth, it can blind us to the larger reality. It can obscure objective facts and morality. It can replace virtue-which is a higher value that transcends our emotions. Empathy has no power to determine right versus wrong and can actually inhibit us from seeing the difference between the two. This is why empathy is actually-despite what Progressives tell you-a very poor guide for our lives. It cannot shape our politics because it is a sorry determinant of policy. Christians actually are not called to empathy; we are called to love. And the love to which we are called is actually independent of how we feel. It is compelled by the love of Christ which does not wax or wane depending on the situation, the circumstance, or our emotions_
(10:48) _Christians are manipulated into believing that the only way to avoid the slanderous titles that we must check our beliefs at the door before we go to work, before we speak, before we vote. Everyone else though gets to bring the full force of their belief system into the public sphere_
(13:08) _How they deceive Christians in this age is by using toxic empathy to convince you that actually the loving, righteous, and true position is the Progressive one. That way they don't have to force you into silence because you will agree with them voluntarily, because the Christian has been so emotionally manipulated into thinking that empathy is the same thing as love. And with empathy so often becomes affirmation, and with affirmation comes celebration of sin. But the Christian knows that true love defined by the Lord will never affirm sin and therefore it is not toxic empathy by which we are guided, but the truth in love_

@@truthmatters7997 Empathy doesn't imply weakness but more often it's cowardness masked as compassion. Instead of pointing out someone's sin as sin and sharing the Gospel with them, many choose to "walk alongside" the sinner while they continue to sin. They don't need you to walk in their shoes, they need you to throw them a rope to rescue them. Besides walking with someone who is sinning is sinning. Let's not forget that repentance is a wonderful means of grace, not a dirty word.

When progs say empathy they mean sympathy, it is written in their actions and words. They feel sorry for the person and believe them incapable without their grace. It is really just a way of leveraging off of the person to raise themselves up. Empathy imo takes in account their deeds along with the enviroment to have a better understanding of what led them to their current point. You don't absolve them of their part in it. Absolving them of their part erase's the person entirely and strictly focuses on the enviroment. In that sense you've killed the being so how are you acting for them.

The problem with what she’s saying is…churches have an equally bad problem with their lack of love and coldness toward people who are suffering righteously within the church culture. They have no empathy or compassion for people who are suffering who aren’t trying to justify sin. I’ve experienced it over and over in churches when seeking help to stop abuse in my marriage or abusive pastors. There’s so much focus on this fear of the others who say there’s a problem with the church and no looking at themselves and their major lack of love. Women in churches who are abused are also treated this same way as these outsiders she’s talking about. A lack of love or hearing those who say there’s a problem with the churches lack of love) because you can’t speak against your husband or abusive men in general. The sexual abuse of women and children in churches of all denominations is a huge issue. The church needs to change from the inside and stop worrying so much about the others who are sinful on the outside. Do that after the church has become more holy. The church is full of sun themselves but won’t look at it. The church is a horribly abusive and sinful place that many abused Christian women don’t feel safe in. Get the log out of your eyes church members and maybe you’ll be able to see more clearly how to give the world hope and change from sin without causing more harm.

      - Define abusive, Define church. It is suspicious when people throw around these loaded terms.
      - Because 1 church has a scandal, doesn't mean that every faithful Christian must now check their beliefs at the door when going out in the public.

▫️Emotions ARE God designed indicators FOR us, whence you have skills to DO so ; to BE implemented | applied AS indicators. NOT as drivers.
▫️Toxic empathy is just as AllieB …HAS… mentioned it, here, plus, to add to THAT,in addition, in today’s world 🌎, also has an aspect of the dynamic of BOTH narcissistic AND codependent behaviors…AT THE SAME TIME, simultaneously.
▫️There is, most ultimately, NO “my truth” , “your truth”… there is ONLY:THE T|truth, which He (God), AS THE T|truth, cultivates Himself (THE only One Who CAN!)bc He is outside linear time, as AllieB also mentioned.

Was he a warrior? There was no talk in the Hebrew Bible about the messiah being god or making a second return. No contemporary sources from the alleged 500 that saw him after he rose. Something that supernatural would have records. Luke and Mark were not eye witnesses. Luke and Mathew copy from Mark. The gospels got more supernatural as time went on. Mark was first and less supernatural. John was where the most supernatural stuff happened. The gospels were written decades after Jesus died. Word of mouth can twist things and he was ascribed to be supernatural. He was a real man but his divinity was a myth. And how is it love that he died to save us from himself?
