Phosphate Mining in the Middle East

- We visited Jordanian phosphate mines last December thanks to our friends at The Near East Equipment Company, Jordan's Komatsu dealer.
It's hard to overstate the importance of phosphate in the world - without it, we couldn't feed over half of the humans on Earth.
However, the mining process is somewhat straightforward. Mining companies use large excavators, like the PC3000 and PC1250s we saw, to strip the overburden from atop the phosphate deposits.
Once exposed, loaders scoop up the white and grey substance, and trucks haul it to nearby plants for further processing.
And the mining efforts go on and on, crossing enormous swaths of the Jordanian desert.

Got me too. So unnatural saying it like that lol
Wow, you guys really were close to that shot. It was like a quarter second between it blowing up and the sound reaching you guys.
yeah we didn't mean to get that close but they told us it was fine beforehand
Yeah that was extremely close I work for a drilling company and we were working at a mine and we saw them setting up for a blast and even still being in the “safe zone” we felt the floor shake it was a preety cool experience
You should visit the Bone Valley in Florida!
As a farmer it’s very interesting to see where some of our fert comes from.
One of the best videos to date!
At the end of the vid, there is a guy blowing another guy...😂
He enjoyed that too much.

Israel and egypt are going to need that to keep people alive as Ukraine and Russia stop shipping. Smart move to get those new machines while interest is still staying low. They will be making bank shortly.
Nice
They're doing a great job, but the United States invented phosphate mining, and we can teach em a thing or two! 💪🧠🍻🇺🇲
Well said, but down here in Australia we just do mining better than anyone. We'll teach the USA a thing or two 😉
@@charlescourtney5519 we taught you guys everything you know, and all your big mines have to be run & contracted out to American companies to ensure it's done properly. Just watch what we do and observe, and maybe you'll learn a thing or two. 💪🧠🍻🇺🇲
Come on Mate.
You guys are just the warmer version of England.
You know all your ancestors came from there right it was all the convicts and stuff...
👍💪🥳
@@jamesbaumbach3294 The United States runs England, Australia, and the entire world! Once president Trump is back in office, we'll be shipping all our mined minerals over to you guys, and charging the max for it, because made in America isn't cheap bud! 💪🧠👍🍻🇺🇲
MSHA be like 👁️👄👁️
Confused about why indian music is playing during a scene in Lebanon, but hey, not one to throw shade on a cultural mashup
a lot of indians work in the middle east
Kinda of like the India people taking over America. Thanks politicians.
Human urine concentrates all the phosphorus we consume, so make sure your not draining the tank into water ways to help prevent algae blooms
As this looks like a exciting job to many people, as a retired heavy equipment operator thats sat in areas for 2 years at a time loading either on or off road trucks .... at some time you will come to hate it from just pure boredom. After the first hour everyday, you will almost contemplate suicide ( not really, but you think about it) . You can't wait to be done digging out that retention pond in order to go do other things with the excavator.
Really wish the videos were longer. Also, keep up the great content on the Podcast!
thank you for watching / listening!! We're working on it!
I guess you always have to make trade offs.
Most weeks I don’t have the time to watch long UA-cam videos but ~10min is perfekt for lunch break
The wear on the equipment must be phenomenal with all that fine dust.. Great vid as per usual.
Awesome vid. Guess net zero is going to be a problem. Lol.
Great video, Aaron and crew. Learn new things everyday. Thanks for sharing and have a great Memorial Day weekend!!
thank you!!
You guys should focus more on the plant side of the operation. Loading trucks is just the beginning of these giant operations, we’d like to see the whole thing please.
Shot delay to prevent vibration???? Nahhh just let it all go at once. Hell yeah

You should do the moroccan phosphates mines next (i know it's not that simple but hahah), they are MASSIVE
