When you discussed why people lived longer in Sardinia or Japan, you mentioned two things that brought a book to my attention. A book written by Christopher Palmer MD. A psychiatrist and researcher working at the interface of metabolism and mental health. He spend 15 years conducting research on substance use and sleep disorders. He is one pioneering the use of ketogenic diet in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. I think he answered the question 'What causes mental illness?' How it connects to what you talked about? He mentions few contributing causes (genetics, meds, drugs, sleep, physical activity and more), out of those you mentioned two already: Eating Purpose in life I highly recommend you take a look at this book :) Cheers Mario!
