This movie is so much better than the trailer shows.
yeah
Watching it now it’s interesting
Yeeps :p
yes LOL
Agreed. I truly liked it!
My family watched this movie after an hour trying to decide on one. We thought sure it was going to be incredibly stupid. We were wrong! This movie is hilarious and heartfelt. We were rolling!
If you and your family enjoyed this, you should check out his other movies (particularly Boy and Jojo Rabbit)! They’re just like this - drama with a serious topic mixed with hilarious comedy!😄
Its one of our favorites.
Your comment just helped me to decide
@@martil.9058 did you enjoy it?
Just watched the movie. It's hilarious, loved every minute of it. Especially because one of the sidekicks is a lovely pitbull
Omg same lol (Tupac) XD
Tupac!!
Jutta Maier I've been told to watch it. I might do so this weekend 😊
Everybody keeps telling me how funny the movie is. I didn't laugh once watching this trailer. Might I still enjoy the movie or is the trailer actually a good representation of the final film and I have to accept the fact that it's just not for me?
Penny Lane idk if you’ve watched it yet, but the movie has so much more heart and humour than this trailer shows
that terminator line killed me
So I'm guessing you're a ghost now? ghost that can comment on UA-cam no less
that was lame af
take an L for that ghost bs
Pierre Levtschenko same oh jesus lmao
@stepasidejesus @Enkryptron ahahaha I’m giving the ghost joke 6 1/2, I didn’t mind it
I'm American and I can't stop doing the New Zealand accent since I watched this. I can't stop.
I know this 3 years late but glad you like the movie made in the Bush
It’s pretty much the same as Australian for a outsider though
That's funny
Taco Blude dont ever say that again
Memo honestly kiwi accents are adorable I don't mind the comparison, makes us sound better anyway
Taika Waititi is the Wes Anderson from New Zeland.
Awesome movie!!!!!!!!!
Exactly what I thought after watching the movie
They both make charming movies, but Taika will make you shit yourself out of laughter.
zealand*
Where New Zeland again?
I thought I'm the only to thought that!! We all should be friends
This movie was a rollercoaster of emotions for me, one moment I was crying, the next laughing so hard.
It warmed my heart seeing the little guy go through all these struggles and still managing to keep his attitude
JoJo Rabbit is the same way. LOL
"Ricky Baker, Ricky Baker, once rejected, now accepted.. " 😂😂
Just watched this and is one of the greatest movies of all time. If you have doubts by the trailer, not that I do, it couldn't do this film justice either way. Watch it now if you haven't, you won't regret it
Brilliant movie. Whole cinema rocking with laughter!
This movie is Majestical!
Fanserker that’s not a word
DreadPirateDrake my line is a reference as well
Verdade amei 😍😍

From writing to acting, everything about this movie is brilliant. One of the best I've ever seen.
This film was seriously just amazing.
Watched it, Loved it. 10/10. This movie deserves more highlights!
"Well they got that wrong cause you're obviously white" I fucking died😂
Stop soliciting.
Im so proud to be kiwi and of my country
+Isaiah Akavi we all are
Mahbooty Beshakin’ Australia and New Zealand are complete different countries yet we share many things. This is unique to us and with our Aussie neighbours they have their own humour. So you should disregard your comment about us be ‘rip off aussies’
Mahbooty Beshakin’ Good on ya
Mahbooty Beshakin’ kiwis are infinitely better than us, don't make that comparison
Im a Yank and was in New Zealand during Lock down. I wish Jacinda Ardern was president of the US
one of my favorite movies, watched 3 times while on a 16 hour plane flight, loved it every time
3 times? those are amatuer numbers. try 20 times
That's how long it takes me to go to auckland from doha or dubai :)
Were you flying to New Zealand by any chance?
I've watched this probably in 2016 and it's still now one of the best movies I've ever watched. I love the right mix of great characters, beautiful sceneries, the entire story and the subtle humors sprinkled throughout the movie. 💕
I still love that despite his level of fame, Sam Niell is still willing to do these amazing indie projects
"tell them it was the WILDER PEOPLE"
"the whata people"
lol
😂😂😂😂
Subhani Attanayake "
Laughed at that one too😀😁
kiwis seeing this and saying “fahta” people
randomly previewed this movie on Netflix, saw Bella playing her tiny keyboard and singing to Ricky, decided to watch it. Majestical movie
Best movie of the year... Very underrated
I hadn't even heard about it until today, but it's for sure my favourite movie of 2016!
✌️
It's ranked number one film of 2016 by Empire Magazine.
Apparently you haven’t seen The Handmaiden 😋
These days, underrated is where you go for the good stuff. Human intelligence has become overrated! (-;
I watched this movie " accidentally " many years ago , and for the longest time i thought that it was this lowkey movie that no one knew about or loved except for me .... and well obviously i was wrong , i discovered that a lot of people appreciate this movie the way it deserves, but something about feeling like this absolutely heartfelt movie was only being appreciated by me played a part of why i love it the way i do, because i felt like it's an outcast of a movie that people would judge before giving it a shot and that it was my job to show this movie all the love that it deserves, which also reflects on the actual plot like all of those characters in the movie who at the core need love even though they didn't show it and even if people didn't feel like they're deserving of love
I accidentally discovered this movie from a flash drive of my classmate way back in college in 2016 and I copied it. And was I glad I did! This movie is beautiful, heart-warming and crazy at the same time. I also read the book and it was good on its own. Please watch it!
Loved this movie.
Brilliant story, stunning scenery and a super cast. Everything was perfect.
I remember watching it, and I loved it so much!! Two years later, I still remember all the greatest moments
It's good to see Sam Neil again
“I don’t stop I’m relentless I’m like the Terminator”
“I’m more like terminator than you?”
“Yeah but I said it first your more like Sara Conner in the first movie before she could do chin ups”
Truly hilarious movie! I loved how they did not reveal the only funny bits and spread them widely throughout the entire movie. Great movie Poli films!
ITS A MUST WATCH MOVIE, I never comment or review on stuff like this but I gotta admit this movie has been the best I’ve seen, give it a try you won’t be disappointed
I need the soundtrack for this movie. A lot of the songs were amazing.
awww yeah, that birthday song was amazing as 😝😂
Someone know the first music ?
This might be a little late but the first song is Ring Christmas Bells.
Troy Kingi, need I say more?
I didn't chose skux life.. The skux life chose me..
Here’s a great lesson coming from an avid movie watcher...
A lot movies with a great trailer tend to be letdowns.
A lot movies with bad trailers are hidden gems.
This movie is exactly that. I had interest, watched the trailer, lost interest. Almost watched it and decided “nah” multiple times and chose something else.
Just finished watching it now... great, great movie. One i’d watch again and be eager to show to family/friends. Perfect story, great comedy, beautiful landscape, heartwarming characters, moments of warmth and sadness, just a great movie.
I loved Sam Neill in the Jurassic Park franchise, one of my favorite movies is the original. He doesn’t disappoint in his performance here.
My only critique is (without trying to spoil it) near the end when they say mean things to each other. Also some plot holes with unrealistic moments, but it’s meant to be a fun movie, not a documentary.
I’d rate is a solid 8/10 for its genre (whatever genre it may be).
I agree with all this save for the rating. SOLID 10/10. Haha
Utterly superb movie, as is What We Do in the Shadows. Taika Waititi is an excellent film maker, and he's wonderfully nutty.
Matt allen name one
The movie worked, so taking stuff out obviously did no harm. And is that seriously your biggest issue with the film? A gun component being incorrectly named? Here I was thinking you had your sleeve full of plot holes, but you're just here crying over nitpicked errors. I'm glad I asked because I'm getting a good laugh at your lack of logic here
No thanks Matt, I'll stick to enjoying films
Is not wanting to do something asked of me by some online nitpicking weirdo beyond you?
Matt allen this is hunt for the wilderpeople. If you want wild pork and watercress, read wild pork and watercress.
Hilarious film that will make you laugh and cry from the beginning to the end of the film. One of those films to sit down and watch with the family.
Nice name
It's great when you come across a film that you have barely heard of and it turns out to be a hidden gem. Netflix and Amazon are great for these kind of films and Hunt for the Wilderpeople really is a cracking little film.
This is the story of city kid Ricky , who gets a fresh start in the New Zealand countryside. He quickly finds himself at home with his new foster family. When a tragedy strikes that threatens to ship Ricky to another home, both he and Hec go on the run in the bush. As a national manhunt ensues, the newly branded outlaws must face their options: go out in a blaze of glory or overcome their differences and survive as a family.
We all know the acting qualities that Sam Neill has and he is great in this but the star of this particular show is Julian Dennison who plays Ricky. Rarely have I seen comedy timing from a kid like he has in this film.
I laughed out loud several times during this movie which is unusual for me and comedies.
The one liners are brilliant and that credit has to go to New Zealand director and screenplay writer Taika Waititi .
I usually cringe when I hear that a movie is "feel good" but not in this case.
Recommended
8 out of 10
Saw this with my wife today. It was a lot of fun. "About a Boy" meets "The Revenant."
Sam Neil is one of the greatest actors of the last 50 years, that kid though...Brilliant!

This movie went straight to being one of my favorite movies after seeing it. I've watched it like 5 times now.... this kid is so damn funny.
It looks like this film will be a heart-warming winner, no wonder I'm so proud of my little country!
And, Space Waltz @ 1:23 ... now I'll have to drag out the album :-)
Favorite movie of the year. This trailer doesn't really sell just how gut-bustingly funny this movie is. You really need to see it for yourself.

MAJESTICAL.
This movie has many great scenes. My favourite is when they bunker down with the survivalist who is complete anti-technology yet still takes time to charge their phones and gives away their position. Don't know why but that really made me laugh.
I absolutely love this film. My interests to learn about New Zealand, brought me to it. But then, I was just taken by this film. It’s so amazing. There were sad moments, but then, there was a lot of suspense and humor. The cast is top notch. The characters are wonderful. And what can I say about the scenery: Beautiful! Beautiful country, period. I highly recommend this film, for no matter how old you are, you’ll love it. It’s a gem (quite underrated, in my opinion). Cheers 🇳🇿
The movie was actually so good my gosh
Absolutely brilliant film. I love it! It's so funny, but it also has heart.
Skux Ricky Baker
Lost in the Bush with Hector
It's majestical
I remember seeing this in the theater and I couldn’t breathe because I was laughing so hard. As soon as I would catch my breath something else funny would happen. I honestly thought I was going to pass out.
trailer doesn't do it justice, this film is incredible!!!!
One of the funniest movies! 'I didn't choose the skux life, the skux life chose me' 🤣
This movie was excellent. Funny, engaging, appropriate for family, full of cultural interest and fantastic landscape shots, not to mention the deeper social issues. For educators, students can consider "equitable resources" as a theme to examine. Civics: How much money is spent on properly placing Richard Baker, as opposed to criminalizing him? Social Equity: Compare the resources the people who foster Baker can access, compared to how many resources the family services agent can access. Media: How do Richard Bakers brand name clothing and "gadgets" serve him when he is in the "wild"? Therefore is clothing about "style" and "trend" or functionality and how/when do we decide what to wear/when? English: Symbolism - what does the rare bird symbolize? What does the water bottle symbolize? When Baker finds out he is not returning the ashes to their place of origin, why doesn't he give up on that idea. Why does Hector finally come on board with that "last wish" fulfilment? Indigenous Studies: Why is Baker in this situation? Is this representative of current issues? Why would the casting director/writer put two indigenous people in the parallel rolls of "hunter" and "hunted"? Let's not forget ...was it psycho Sam? What does Sam claim is happening? Why has he chosen to live like he does? How do his rants mirror Baker's experiences? Is Sam really psycho or is he a character of clarity - and the author is speaking of personal views? What does Sam's "I am a man. I am a bush. I am a man. I am a bush" statement mean in relation to the theme or Baker's situation?
Phenomenal movie for the whole family. Everyone was laughing so hard, we all loved it.
One of the best films I've seen , for real !!
