Briana W. I agreed. I don’t use my partner’s towel anymore because once I dried my face with it and it smelled like musky butt. I’ve noticed that it take up to 3 washes to completely remove the butt funk. Most people don’t wash and repeat three times. If you don’t believe me smell the towel after drying your butt .

litterally just went 3 weeks without a shower and im not ashamed of it. I didnt leave the house or mostly didnt even leave bed and i gotta say, not showering was the least problem i had. As long as someone doesnt bother you with his smell or whatever, why is there even a reason to talk about it

I’m exactly the same, if I don’t shower daily I feel rotten but 20% of the time I’d say I don’t wash my hands after using the bathroom ONLY AT HOME, but if it’s a number 2 I 100% wash my hands

Yes in the summer, so when it's hot or if I'm on my period I shower twice a day. The morning I shower and at night I just have a hot bath. Also I sleep better when I'm fresh

Eh, I’ve done it. When I moved to my new house and my depression got worse, I went SO long without showering, so it’s become a problem for me. I’ve developed some sort of stigma with showers, idk what’s wrong with me, but I ain’t stank
I shower everyday. The exception is if I'm having a bummy weekend where I stay in the house alone. For example, I'd stay in bed all saturday watching TV/reading without showering. If my friend calls me to go out somewhere, I'm jumping right in the shower before I go anywhere.

When I switch to having braids for the 1st time, it was so hard for me because you're not supposed to wash your hair & my hair was getting super dry & itchy because it was not producing any oil
Well if you are going to bed clean why wash the sheets so much? I leave it to two weeks although i sleep fully clothed so i have little skin contact. Pillow cases should be changed more though because of skin contact.
I'm a nurse and I feel the same way. So gross to think of all the poo and other germs I'm exposed to all day... no way in hell I'm bringing those germs in my bed. But you'd be surprised how many of my colleagues don't shower before bed 🤢

If I’ve exercised or been somewhere and gotten dirty then I will obviously shower straight away but I change my clothes daily and my underwear in the morning and night, and use plenty of deodorant so I don’t get smelly? Obviously I wash my face twice a day and wash my hands throughout the day. I personally think it’s bad for your skin and body to shower twice a day, who tf does that? Especially if you’re washing your hair daily, that will just make your hair produce more oil.

Yeah, I work in childcare so I HAVE to shower when I get home for sure everyday lol. I couldn’t sleep if I still had all of their germs on me. They sneeze on us, cough, spit. Then the babies and their diapers & blow outs 😅 & they spit up on us after feedings. Lol I need that shower

WolfGamer Hang in there! My depression kicked into overdrive this time last year. I only took 3 showers the whole month of december last year because i couldn’t even get out of bed. Therapy helped me tremendously and i’m in a much better place now. i hope you find that better place soon. 💙
Just don’t wash your hair everyday y’all! 1-3 days, gotta keep the natural oils in there to keep it healthy. Same thing with skin.. You really shouldn’t shower everyday. Coming from a women who studied hair and skin in school. 🤷🏼♀️

I went almost two weeks without a shower during hurricane Harvey, by the third day my skin was getting very irritated and it was very uncomfortable, this is also August in South East Texas without any power so it was very hot and humid and the flood water itself was gross. My husband showers twice a day normally, but oddly enough, he didn't stink like I did and I normally shower once a day, but only shampoo my hair twice a week. My daughter was six at the time and she started complaining after about four days. I will never forget how good that shower felt when I finally got to take one, literally crying tears of joy. After that I saw simple things I took for granted, like running water, as such a luxury. We did have wipes, but it was not the same at all.

No one says I smell, my skin is completely fine and moisturized and I'm completely healthy. You can look at scientific articles/journals online. It's only society telling us that we need to shower daily. But really, our bodies are fine with like twice a week.
Ikr my skin and hair is kinda dry and if i wash it too much it gets really flaky and not so nice and reading the comments made me feel like i was doing something wrong with just washing it once or twice a week but glad i am not the only one tho. And its not like i am rolling around in mud all day long or something anyways and when i went to my dermatologist the first thing she told me was that my skin is waaaay too dry . I used to wash my hair everyday but then i noticed that it would produce more oils the more i wash it so i tried to change my routine and i feel like using all those sulphates in our hair every single day or x2 a day is not good for it either. Same here. Once or twice a week is more than enough. Though sometimes I go longer and it's no big deal. If I'm not going out, I'm not going to shower even if I start to smell!

you know showering everyday is very American. People in other countries do not shower daily. Unless you are doing some heavy sweating / working out it can be very stressful for your skin, especially if its already dry.
I usually shower every other day.. because my hair and but mostly skin gets *extremely* dry from washing and only natural oils from my body I guess helps (but I could go every three days if necessary) I don't know if that's disgusting to people who shower every day it's just what works for me I guess lol...

My mom would bathe us every Sunday before church, that's it. We were poor and she was single and we had to save on water. I thought that was normal and even now, I gotta drag myself in the shower. It definitely isn't daily. Doesn't help having natural hair either lol

AND, when my mom's new boyfriend made empty promises about getting a job and being a family, when all he did was eat sleep, and 💩....while my mom worked multiple jobs, fed us and paid every single bill. Money only became an issue when both father figures didnt want to man up. Luckily the night that the bf abused my mom in front of my sis and I, she got him arrested and threw him out. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. My mom is the hardest working woman I know. Not to give you my life story but I'm not gonna let you speak on my life that you know nothing about, so there's some context.
Severely Depressed people can go a long time without showering, I randomly started having seizures at age 20 Watch out peeps it happens i'm up to 5 at age 24, have one each year at the same time and it confuses doctors because I'm not epileptic or have a disorder so I went into a HUGE depression and went a very long time without one and I wanted to but had no energy I just couldn't get out of bed and it hurt to do so, In that time no smell because I always had clean clothes and it was weird,I learned that smell doesn't just build it does go away like normal, My peers never knew no one did, i'm better and I shower now but When your in a dark place it can be hard to do anything at all.
My child has dry skin and I was advised not to bathe my little everyday. HOWEVER I wash up those crevices with soap in between. Edit: I bathe my little one every other day and wash ups on the other days. Skin is moisturized EVERY day, sometimes twice.
Sounds like a deeper issue then dry skin. Eczema is the main cause of dry skin. If that's the case. I suggest trying the candida diet for your child. To starve the body of yeast and heal the gut.
Kirstin I have anxiety that’s been diagnosed by a doctor , and also bouts of depression, however I find skipping showers which is basic hygiene, makes me feel worse. So I shower daily , even if it’s just to wash the main bits and parts.

I can’t take showers everyday in winter here in NY because my skin is very dry. Winter 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday & Friday (considering I’ve done nothing sweat-inducing the entire day) and whenever I’m having sex, I will take a shower immediately before and after the deed regardless of the day. I take full showers every 2 or 3 days unless it’s summer and I’m sweating. But I wash my lady areas every day with a cloth, wash my face twice a day, and brush teeth on a daily basis.
Same, like full showers should be at least every other day, and im like you if im sweating then i will shower that same day even if i showered that morning, but to freshen up like i do it on the between days, my skin gets very dry if i take too many showers too often like twice a day, and its recommended to space out full showers bc its healthier for skin. Plus ive been homeless a few times in my life, having a washcloth, soap and water to freshen up, you honestly dont need a full bathtub to wash up, and if you dont have access to a tub take out that handy washcloth and soap and water from a bathroom sink wash yourself up, fresh undies etc and keep going.. But i still take a bath but just sayin like people act like a tub is always there but if your are homeless you may have to find a public bathroom clean yourself up that way, ive learned that to keep myself clean even when i lived out of my car.
In Africa, you can't afford to not bath everyday, our weather is very humid, so I bath at least twice a day, can't go to bed with sticky skin, cos that's what happens in humid weather, you sweat and it sticks, it's not dry air. Even if your weather is not humid, at least clean your armpits, and every hole that can smell 😂
Most of the comments about needing to shower everyday is coming from people who don’t believe in using a wash cloth, which in my OPINION is very odd. Just because you don’t shower everyday does not mean your body isn’t clean. The amount of showers you take doesn’t equal how clean you are. Neither does whether you stink or not equal your cleanliness. Do what’s best for your body and hygiene
I use exfoliating gloves...They are the best to me...Lemons on the stinky places ten mins before shower.. Be sure to rub with husks...it works as a natural skin lightener as well
To clarify what I said since it seems to not be clear. Showering everyday, meaning, submerging your body in water does not equate to being clean. If you don’t shower everyday this does NOT mean a person doesn’t put soap and water to needed places on their body to remain clean. Depending on your lifestyle and body you may need a shower everyday. For me personally the weather is a big factor. The winters cold is very brutal on my skin. Not meaning I don’t clean my body. Big example how hygiene may be different for others: natural haired women (black women primarily speaking) cannot wash their hair everyday. But women with straighter hair build more oils quicker and the hair may hold more odors. So that woman may need to wash her hair more often. Is one of these women cleaner than the other because their hair has different needs?No. Therefore, as I said before. Do what’s best for your health and hygiene
Every other day for me. But each shower of mine lasts 30-45 minutes bc I clean EVERYTHING and very thoroughly... ppl who need to shower twice a day every day or else they stink are probably taking 5 min showers that aren't thorough at all

Us girls have three types of showers. One: quick body wash. Two: body wash and hair wash. Three: body wash hair wash shave and exfoliate. You should be doing one every day but you can push it two/ three days for the other two options

Ok so I understand why a lot of people in this society takes a showers everyday. We may or may not sweat a lot everyday but we do go to the bathroom throughout the day and for that, you need to shower everyday or every other day. BUT I come from a culture where I was taught to clean myself with water every time I go to the bathroom whenever it’s possible so therefore, if I haven’t done any sweat inducing activities, I will be fine for 3 days even 4. Ive never had any complains from anyone: I’ve been with my man for 7 years now and we are always upfront with each other. He’s the type to take one every day cos he works out and his jobs also physical. I tell him if he stinks and I know he will also and so far, he has never told me anything. That’s not to say, I do that all the time, it’s mostly every other day or whenever i workout. It just means, if life’s busy and I haven’t had time, I don’t feel like a disgusting mess walking around without showering for 3-4 days.
I have to wash my body twice a day, or I won't be able to sleep. In the past when I used to party I'd came home from the club at 5 am drunk as hell and still shower, being real careful because I could slip and fall, but I still did it because I could not fall asleep dirty. My roommate in the other hand would knock out in bed with make-up and clothes on lol

@@kaitlyn7521 It could be that you naturally produce a lot of oil but if you wash your hair everyday as a reaction you’ll get oily hair faster because when your hair gets stripped of it‘s oils daily, it tries to keep the balance and thus produce more oil faster to balance out the "dry“ scalp. You could try leaving your hair oily a little longer for once and then wash it and slowly increase the the days you don‘t wash your hair to break the cycle.
I have spina bifida and depression and shower twice a week. I would shower daily if I had the strength and energy. I wash my face and armpits daily and put on deodorant and perfume daily. Anyone who judges don’t understand depression or disability, which is a shame in this day and age

I take three showers a day then put cologne on coconut oil all over my body that’s how much I love myself my grandma back home in Puerto Rico always told me after you shower put some lotion or coconut oil on your body and cologne and I kept doing it even now she always told me to use black soap to wash yourself with a cloth 🤷🏽♂️💯

Its basic courtesy to shower before you leave the house and meet people. Id be too self conscious if I didnt and I would suffer and scream internally. But there was one point i my life I was facing depression and identity crisis and since I was just at home I didnt shower for 5 days. Omg but 1 week is max and too much akready! More than that is just pushing it. At least abasic 5-8 mjnutes shower shouldnt be so hard.

litterally just went 3 weeks without a shower and im not ashamed of it. I didnt leave the house or mostly didnt even leave bed and i gotta say, not showering was the least problem i had. As long as someone doesnt bother you with his smell or whatever, why is there even a reason to talk about it

I went almost two weeks without a shower during hurricane Harvey, by the third day my skin was getting very irritated and it was very uncomfortable, this is also August in South East Texas without any power so it was very hot and humid and the flood water itself was gross. My husband showers twice a day normally, but oddly enough, he didn't stink like I did and I normally shower once a day, but only shampoo my hair twice a week. My daughter was six at the time and she started complaining after about four days. I will never forget how good that shower felt when I finally got to take one, literally crying tears of joy. After that I saw simple things I took for granted, like running water, as such a luxury. We did have wipes, but it was not the same at all.

I shower once to twice a week. I used to shower every single day and then realized that I was drying out my skin like mad and even visited a dermatologist who told me to lay off. No one says I smell, my skin is completely fine and moisturized and I'm completely healthy. You can look at scientific articles/journals online. It's only society telling us that we need to shower daily. But really, our bodies are fine with like twice a week.

AND, when my mom's new boyfriend made empty promises about getting a job and being a family, when all he did was eat sleep, and 💩....while my mom worked multiple jobs, fed us and paid every single bill. Money only became an issue when both father figures didnt want to man up. Luckily the night that the bf abused my mom in front of my sis and I, she got him arrested and threw him out. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. My mom is the hardest working woman I know.

i'm up to 5 at age 24, have one each year at the same time and it confuses doctors because I'm not epileptic or have a disorder so I went into a HUGE
depression and went a very long time without one and I wanted to but had no energy I just couldn't get out of bed and it hurt to do so, In that time no smell because I always had clean clothes and it was weird,I learned that smell doesn't just build it does go away like normal, My peers never knew no one did, i'm better and I shower now but When your in a dark place it can be hard to do anything at all.

Edit: I bathe my little one every other day and wash ups on the other days. Skin is moisturized EVERY day, sometimes twice.

Sounds like a deeper issue then dry skin. Eczema is the main cause of dry skin. If that's the case. I suggest trying the candida diet for your child. To starve the body of yeast and heal the gut.

I can’t take showers everyday in winter here in NY because my skin is very dry. Winter 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday & Friday (considering I’ve done nothing sweat-inducing the entire day) and whenever I’m having sex, I will take a shower immediately before and after the deed regardless of the day. I take full showers every 2 or 3 days unless it’s summer and I’m sweating. But I wash my lady areas every day with a cloth, wash my face twice a day, and brush teeth on a daily basis.
Same, like full showers should be at least every other day, and im like you if im sweating then i will shower that same day even if i showered that morning, but to freshen up like i do it on the between days, my skin gets very dry if i take too many showers too often like twice a day, and its recommended to space out full showers bc its healthier for skin. Plus ive been homeless a few times in my life, having a washcloth, soap and water to freshen up, you honestly dont need a full bathtub to wash up, and if you dont have access to a tub take out that handy washcloth and soap and water from a bathroom sink wash yourself up, fresh undies etc and keep going.. But i still take a bath but just sayin like people act like a tub is always there but if your are homeless you may have to find a public bathroom clean yourself up that way, ive learned that to keep myself clean even when i lived out of my car.
In Africa, you can't afford to not bath everyday, our weather is very humid, so I bath at least twice a day, can't go to bed with sticky skin, cos that's what happens in humid weather, you sweat and it sticks, it's not dry air. Even if your weather is not humid, at least clean your armpits, and every hole that can smell 😂
Most of the comments about needing to shower everyday is coming from people who don’t believe in using a wash cloth, which in my OPINION is very odd. Just because you don’t shower everyday does not mean your body isn’t clean. The amount of showers you take doesn’t equal how clean you are. To clarify what I said since it seems to not be clear. Showering everyday, meaning, submerging your body in water does not equate to being clean. If you don’t shower everyday this does NOT mean a person doesn’t put soap and water to needed places on their body to remain clean. Depending on your lifestyle and body you may need a shower everyday. For me personally the weather is a big factor. The winters cold is very brutal on my skin. Not meaning I don’t clean my body. Big example how hygiene may be different for others: natural haired women (black women primarily speaking) cannot wash their hair everyday. But women with straighter hair build more oils quicker and the hair may hold more odors. So that woman may need to wash her hair more often. Is one of these women cleaner than the other because their hair has different needs?No. Therefore, as I said before. Do what’s best for your health and hygiene

Us girls have three types of showers. One: quick body wash. Two: body wash and hair wash. Three: body wash hair wash shave and exfoliate. You should be doing one every day but you can push it two/ three days for the other two options

Ok so I understand why a lot of people in this society takes a showers everyday. We may or may not sweat a lot everyday but we do go to the bathroom throughout the day and for that, you need to shower everyday or every other day.
BUT I come from a culture where I was taught to clean myself with water every time I go to the bathroom whenever it’s possible so therefore, if I haven’t done any sweat inducing activities, I will be fine for 3 days even 4. Ive never had any complains from anyone: I’ve been with my man for 7 years now and we are always upfront with each other. He’s the type to take one every day cos he works out and his jobs also physical. I tell him if he stinks and I know he will also and so far, he has never told me anything. That’s not to say, I do that all the time, it’s mostly every other day or whenever i workout. It just means, if life’s busy and I haven’t had time, I don’t feel like a disgusting mess walking around without showering for 3-4 days.

In the past when I used to party I'd came home from the club at 5 am drunk as hell and still shower, being real careful because I could slip and fall, but I still did it because I could not fall asleep dirty. @@kaitlyn7521 It could be that you naturally produce a lot of oil but if you wash your hair everyday as a reaction you’ll get oily hair faster because when your hair gets stripped of it‘s oils daily, it tries to keep the balance and thus produce more oil faster to balance out the "dry“ scalp. You could try leaving your hair oily a little longer for once and then wash it and slowly increase the the days you don‘t wash your hair to break the cycle.

I have spina bifida and depression and shower twice a week. I would shower daily if I had the strength and energy. I wash my face and armpits daily and put on deodorant and perfume daily. Anyone who judges don’t understand depression or disability, which is a shame in this day and age
yes if I was never hit with my back problems which triggered depression I would have never understood someone going so long with out showering, I dreaded showering because of the non stop pain I was in, lost so much weight because every little thing I did hurt

I take three showers a day then put cologne on coconut oil all over my body that’s how much I love myself my grandma back home in Puerto Rico always told me after you shower put some lotion or coconut oil on your body and cologne and I kept doing it even now she always told me to use black soap to wash yourself with a cloth 🤷🏽♂️💯

Its basic courtesy to shower before you leave the house and meet people. Id be too self conscious if I didnt and I would suffer and scream internally.
But there was one point i my life I was facing depression and identity crisis and since I was just at home I didnt shower for 5 days.

Also if you have a husband wife or what ever sleeping next to you its always nice to be clean if you know what i mean 😉. Having Good hygiene is ESSENTIAL to having Good health. And showring in the morning is equally important the human body creats odors in the private area. Now if a person feels fine walking around with their private parts smelling like fish the whole day then 👌
