Just randomly read about FCP Euro and their warranty. Fantastic team, fantastic terms. Just made my first order this week for spark plugs and coils on my n55 (including the torque wrench and socket) - and I didn't even know they did instructionals. I will recommend them to everyone. Thanks, FCP Euro.
Thanks. Great DIY video. I used your DIY to change the valve cover on my 2011 535i. Took me a while, but your video was a TREMENDOUS help! Keep up the great work!!!
Just did a spark plug change on a 16' 640 N55, to get to the 5 and 6 plug you need to remove a bracket directly over 5 and 6 that holds two electrical connectors and the big plastic bracket that cradles wires going over the back of the engine to move it to remove the foam insulation as well also required to do 5 and 6. It seems that was done before you started the video. The fasteners on the pax side are a PITA. Could have referenced that.
Thanks for the tip! Just did the same (removed bracket, just the passenger side, and foam on a 2017). Number 6 plug is a real challenge. I ended up using a short extension and a universal joint on the spark plug socket. The universal joint allows you to "fold" everything down into the spark plug well as you have very little vertical clearance.
Helpful Tips: - Buy a LOCKING ratchet extension. The first time I tried this, the socket got stuck on the plug and I couldn't get it out. If I had a locking ratchet extension it would have helped. - spray some P'Blaster on your plugs and let it sit over night, if they're stuck. Mine wouldn't budge at first, but came out after soaking overnight. Thanks for the video! Super helpful
Thanks for mentioning the TSB on the corrosion. I have so much, I was worried. It did flake down onto the valves a bit but I blew it out with air. Thought my seals were bad or something but everything looked good and the coils "popped" with pressure taking them out. Weird moisture can get in. New coils seem better protected with rubber though.
Great informative video. Straight to the point. Step by step, and leaves no room for failure (unless you're stupid). Oh and best of all....no stupid 1970's porn music

Hi bud, you are BMW master mechanic with lot of experience and knowledge. Question for you buddy. I have BMW X5 2012 E70, few days ago I disconnected battery to work on alternator. Once, I replaced bad Alternator and re-connected battery but somehow it fried my FRM3 module. Now, I have to replace my FRM3 module from dealership... what will be the cause that fried my FRM3 module when I re-connected battery. as, far I know my battery had no issues or any error codes etc.?
3:42 that Corrugated plastic pipe connector, I literally broke mine, as I tried to move the large intake pipe. Also, I think there is a plastic mount that is located above your left arm, that you didn't mention.
@FCP Euro I got X5 2008 N52 Engine. Do you recommend taking out the Engine partition cover to reach spark plug #6? In most videos I see people struggling to remove the coil and spark plugs and no one thought to remove the engine partition above them?

In addition to only replacing one cylinder at a time one more trick and again just me..... As you open the box and install the new plug, place the used plug in the same box and mark 1-6 for the cylinder number. I do that and place all the old plugs in the boxes and if busy you can read the old plugs at a later time. Also allows you to compare plugs with burn charts and isolate any problem plug to a specific cylinder. Simple and only a few extra seconds. You could even go so far as marking the boxes with cylinder number before removing the new plugs from the box. As for checking gap....despite what the box may say always verify proper gap before installation. The box can get bumped or jarred during packaging or transit to the store and even the slightest bump could throw gap off. Having had another vehicle with the 14mm spark plug sockets before I will advise be EXTREMELY careful when loosening and tightening the plugs. I had one that felt like it broke in half and was expecting to pull half of a plug back when I used the magnet to remove the #1 cylinder plug. Fortunately it came out as one piece but be very careful. There is not a lot of tolerance and plug tight and breaking can be a matter of 1/16th of a turn. Use Torque wrench for this one. As with pretty much any spark plug removal don’t use air or electric tolls to break torque. Note regular ratchet/socket to break torque and then the electric ratchet. Thanks FCP for the video

Hi, great video. Can I use a long straight spark plug socket, or is there a kink in the spark plug tube meaning I need to use a wobble or universal joint to get to the plugs? Thanks.

I don't know why ECPeuro still don't sell the best coils out there for the F10 which are the ELDOR ignition coils! Fixes all issues that Bosch & Delphi have!
The V8 is a bit more difficult. The rear plug on each cylinder is a pain to reach. Also, makes sure you have the correct coils, of you are replacing thoses as well, and hell, you might as well do them. If you have the wrong coils, they wont plug in correctly, and even if you do get them installed, your BMW won't start. It will crank, but it won't start. So, pull a front coil, get the part number off of it, and order them that way. Don't just the parts store, or even FCP, Pelican, ECS, etc..... Check your part numbers!
@@fcpeuro when I was trying to get the plug out of the head, the socket would get stuck and my extension would disconnect from the socket and be stuck in the motor. I got some long nose needle pliers n got it out thanks for the help tho!

@@545iAR Would mind proving the part number and where you got your 10" socket from? I would like to pick one up as well. Thanks!
Great video! Can you or anyone else help though please, what is the pipe you’re holding at 4:40 called? I’ve tried searching inlet pipe but can’t see to find the same one. Thanks!
It's often called an Intake Charge Pipe, or Charge Air Duct. What model is your BMW? We'd be happy to find you the right part!
FCP Euro this seems to be it here, but this is the only one showing up when I type in what it’s called on eBay : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254558988265
I have a 2011 f11 535i , thanks for your help!
FCP Euro I think ‘air duct’ seems to be working 👍🏻👍🏻
If you have a stage 1 MHD Tune, would you use the same plug or go a step colder?
You may want to look into a one step colder plug, it would be best to check with your tuner of course.
Nice video. Are they aluminum options for replacing the plastic charge pipe you mention?
VRSF aluminum pipe is a great option.
VRSF.
I don't know why ECPeuro still don't sell the best coils out there for the F10 which are the ELDOR ignition coils! Fixes all issues that Bosch & Delphi have!
They do sell them..?
www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-direct-ignition-coil-eldor-12138657273
Only hella
Do we have to disconnect the battery for this job?
The V8 is a bit more difficult. The rear plug on each cylinder is a pain to reach. Also, makes sure you have the correct coils, of you are replacing thoses as well, and hell, you might as well do them. If you have the wrong coils, they wont plug in correctly, and even if you do get them installed, your BMW won't start. It will crank, but it won't start. So, pull a front coil, get the part number off of it, and order them that way. Don't just the parts store, or even FCP, Pelican, ECS, etc..... Check your part numbers!
Do you answer questions? My question is can you use index 12 injectors in an N55?
What spark plugs should i use for my 2013 f10. N55
Do iridium spark plugs work on a 3.0i x5 e53 engine
Just did a DIY in my n55, but got thrown an SES. Common for e92s?
For the F10 535i Msport option, are the plugs different? Also us there any fcp bundle that has plugs and socket sold as a kit?
Hello Great Gardengnome, the plugs are going to be the same for your N55, be sure to use the vehicle selector on the site to see our available kits!
WHAT TYPE OF PLUG DO U USE IN A 2008 bmw 328I SEDAN AUTOMATIC..i HAVE bosch AND Bosch Coils BUT MANY SAY NGK iridium???
Do we have to code those spark plugs and ignition coils in the bimmer? Just wondering ?
No need, homie!
@@fcpeuro what is P112F code on the N55 ?
Do you have any tips for the installation of the new spark plug ? Because my 14mm socket always stays stuck on the spark...
Hi Sechs, we recommend this spark plug socket: www.fcpeuro.com/products/12-point-bmw-spark-plug-socket-14mm
Bro same I literally cant get it off the plug bc of the rubber inside
@@fcpeuro this socket gets stuck on the plug. Any tips to get it off? I cannot get it off.
@@danteecheverry8968 If you are trying to get the old plug out of the socket I would try tapping it on a hard surface to try and dislodge it.
@@fcpeuro when I was trying to get the plug out of the head, the socket would get stuck and my extension would disconnect from the socket and be stuck in the motor. I got some long nose needle pliers n got it out thanks for the help tho!
Whats the vacuum line that connects to the Intake pipe? Asking for a friend
how do you know how much torque youre using??
If I buy the spark plugs from FCP Euro like they come ready to Install ???
Yep, pre-gapped and ready to install!
Thank you so much
Does this work for the E40 too
I bought the BMW Ignition Service Kit KIT-12138616153KT5. This video says the gap is on the box but this is incorrect. What a disappointment. I think I gapped then wrong and now need to pull at least one to confirm the plugs were gapped correctly. Please update your video.
Hi Carolyn, manufacturers can change the packaging on items like these. However, you will note in the description of the listing that these spark plugs come Pre-Gapped and do not need to be gapped before installation. If you are still having trouble please reach out to our team at Service@fcpeuro.com and they can help you out with anything you may need!
Nice vids, on the F22 N 55 Engines . Sir what is the ft pounds tourqe for spark plugs
27Nm or 17lb-ft
@@fcpeuro , thank you , on Bosch spark plugs out of the box usually pre gapped ? Part number 12 12 00 37 582 / ZR5TPP33S it's being mounted for 2016 BMW M235I xdrive
Swivel or non-swivel socket ?
Nice looks to be the same on a n55 7 series
Yes, same process on any N55 !
I was driving my bmw 335i n55 and then my service engine light came on and my car started shaking. Is that a sign of worn out spark plugs and coils? It’s at 100k miles?
You will want to get the vehicle scanned as it can be anything, included the parts you mentioned. Depending on the service history of your vehicle, a simple plug change may be all it needs.
Please provide links to both parts that you said were fragile. I’m 1 for 2 so far. The vacuum line part didn’t make it.
Hey J. here ya go! They can be fickle brittle pieces over time, and a pita to remove. www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-vent-hose-11127584128 , www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-vacuum-pipe-11657588771

What hose is that 4.00 into the video?
7:41 do you need an angled 14mm??
Get that man some A/C! Lol
Things get hot in here!
Are NGK laser iridium premium plugs good for this whip?
yes
No dielectric grease?
We do not apply is as these coils are press fit, and most people overuse the grease causing the coils to pop up off the spark plugs.
Thanks for the great video! Let’s say *hypothetically* that I broke the 4 tab connector on the hose from the intake pipe (8:18) - can FCP sell me a new one? :)
Hey Brent, we may be able to get that part for you if you can find the part number of the connector! Input your car's vin on bimmercat.com and provide our service team with the part number. From there they may be able to get a new one to you!
@@fcpeuro FYI, the manual specifically calls out NOT to disconnect from that point because you may damage it...

Will these spark plugs fit a 2017 X6 50i?
No that is an N63TU engine.
Is the inlet pipe the charge pipe?
Hi Julian, The inlet pipe is not the charge pipe. The inlet pipe is where fresh air gets into the turbo, the charge pipe is where the compressed air goes from the turbo to the intercooler and intercooler to the throttle body.
excellenttttt 100-100
Have you ever found loose spark plugs in these engines?
Hi Catalin, not that we have encountered.
