Unfortunately the reviewer's gag with the (superfluous+unnecessary) recharge stop will be misunderstood by many inattentive viewers. He should have emphasized far more that the batteries can simply be recharged as you drive by the onboard ICE generator and that a recharge stop is only needed if you are determined to only charge up from an external electricity supply. Yes, he mentioned that fact once - but too briefly for viewers for whom this kind of "series hybrid" technology is unfamiliar.Believe me - many viewers will watch this and think that customers may have to stop and wait for a recharge if the battery runs low !!Paul G
Thanks CNET for reminding us how much you hate electric vehicles. They could have taken the 300 mile EV with no petrol engine but they chose a hybrid for London. So they now have to deal with a 80 mile electric range and 400 mile extended hybrid range. So if you use the car as it is supposed to be used then "going electric" will not be a problem. This is not what was expected from CNET but this will help lower expectations for the future.

Personally I do not think that the LED head lamps work with it. Could they just get the body of a Austin FX4 and then put a different engine in it which would save them time hand money? And also they would not desicrate a classic symbol of Britishness. I am really not a big fan of it at all. It looks more like a van than a London Taxi. Hardly surprising when the company that makes them is owned by a another company that will not have had any experience in making black cabs. I will avoid riding in them. This is a iconic car going down the drain in a way. This just my opinion though.

What the company is claiming Eighty miles on a charge is absolute rubbish claim , with head lights and heaters on , it will not go more than forty miles. In a meeting with this manufacturer , they could not answer lots of technical questions. Guys take my word , do not trust this company, they are bunch of liars.
