Hey guys, pull tab here but wanted to add some positive notes about the 1.14 update. I definitely noticed some improvement on target ID with the Deep Target setting (dt) set at 6. A few things to note: crusty zinc pennies which usually ring from low 30s to low 40s were solid tones staying consistent at 36-38. Also, at the end of our hunt when we had finished recording i pulled a silver 1947 Rosie Dime which i bet we had walked over in the past. It rang 42-49 which i would definitely dig and was only 5"-6" deep. When i opened the hole it started to ring low (maybe was on its side) but because of the more stable ID prior to opening it, i dug the hole and got the coin. Definitely think DT is a great new feature that will help all Detectorists even if beast mode may need some work (maybe we did something wrong).
Thanks, Pull tab. I see a statement from Delik said we are using BM wrong. Stated even our experienced users are using it wrong Nokta will be coming out with an explanation soon. I'm hopeful. I sure do love the dt setting. I think it will be good once tweaked.
@@kellydavis2797 good to know Kelly! Going to see if I can find Delik's statement now and keep an eye out. I definitely got the impression I was doing something wrong so I 100% don't want to say it isn't working but with our experience, something was funky. Overall I'm super happy with the update and glad to be providing some feedback to the community.
@@kellydavis2797 just saw their statement as well. We were both under the impression we may have not been using it correctly when the VDIs were not adding up to the normal modes. I'm under the impression it makes sense for relic hunting where signals are deep and a vdi wouldn't be as accurate regardless. Thank you
Pulltab is a great compliment to Silver Sniffers genius. I applaud these two. Would love to grab a beer with these two legends. I’ve been sober for 32 years but I’d hop off the wagon for these two gems.
I agree, the DT is a winner. I went to my well hunted old school and with DT, found coins and artifacts I totally walked over in the past. With beast mode I get audio but the vdi's are all over the place. Anyway, thanks Jersey, your video was great you lead me to realize my threshold was too low. Thanks again happy hunting.
Hey Kelly, it definitely is the best part of this update don't see myself using BM too much in its current form. And glad to be of help! I keep toying with threshold but it seems to do the trick for depth. You may not notice low tones as much but I just keep it down or off when going for jewelry anyways. Happy hunting
Is it going deeper though or is it allowing you to find shallow items you missed before. Finding stuff with DT you didn't before doesn't mean it's the new DT feature, it could mean you literally missed it before. I've been to a site 50 times and still pull stuff out. Just gotta hit it right. NOthing to do with a Deep Target setting. Unless you tell me that new found target is super deep, it's just the machine doing it's normal job.
@@TheDiggingDudesOfficial I wouldn't say deeper, I'd say a more accurate VDI. I don't necessarily think it's unveiling missed targets from the older updates. Like you said, no spot is ever finished being dug.
@@TheDiggingDudesOfficial hey dudes so threshold from my understanding directly impacts the detectors ability to pick up smaller or deeper targets. I typically turn it up anywhere from 9-23 or so before that hum gets too loud. I don't think it's necessary in most environments but many areas I hunt precious coins are hiding deeper than 7 inches. It seems to have worked for me
Beast seems to be more effective with aged targets in the ground. Also the ground balance must be perfect. Ground balance the original or level gb then switch to ground balance level 2 and do it again until number is stable and no tone change. Make darn sure you are not over any targets in the ground when you ground balance. Recovery of 3 and move slow and steady in beast. I look for 3 things. No depth indicator. When the legend is on targets past the depth detection there will be no bars. This is one of the 3 things letting you know it's deep. Next NO VDI or possibly just a hint of a number once and awhile and I look for high number. And third a nice soft rising tone. Deep targets in beast do NOT give a beep beep on super deep targets. It more or less is a soft rise and fall. A lot like a gold nugget PI detector. Soft rise woo woo. And now with those 3 things - no depth bars, no VDI number or maybe occasionally while swinging slow and steady, and a nice soft woo woo sound. Dig! That's a deep deep coin. I am pulling wheats regularly at full pinpointer depth and I switch back to regular park mode and coin is not picked up. So finely tuned ground balancing critical. And recovery of 3 then a slow steady sweep right down on the grass. Listen for a soft repeating rise tone. It works but you must slow down and know what it's telling you
Thanks you for all of this information, I'm sure many will find it very useful. I'm of course giving it another go and will take what you've said into much consideration. I'm guessing you would recommend headphones? In our first few hours with it we were not wearing them.
@@JerseyDigs yes headphones are a must. The guys that will adapt to beast mode most easily are going to be good nugget hunters. As they are very used to soft light targets. Unfortunately most coin hunters don't really understand what a true light signal is. Listen to Delik say. Double ground balance and that VDI won't work on these deep targets. Keep that in mind. No depth bar showing and occasionally VDI. I look for VDI of 46+ to pop up once and awhile while sweeping slowly over the potential target. Once you get those 3 parameters showing and you dig a few coins you will start to know exactly what you are looking for on the Legend.
I’m on 1.14 beta. I haven’t even tried the beast mode. A lot are folks having problems with it. The DT mode I have tried, but not at a place I have hunted continuously. So far, in my test area, DT has been so so. I’m not ready to say it is better yet, more hunting is required. Thanks for your video. It gave me a starting place to try on DT.
I agree. DT Seems to give a different audio response when turned up. But I did feel the VDI was more accurate at depth specifically when comparing penny/dime targets that ring up within 1-2 VDI from one another. Wish you luck and hope to hear your results.
Thanks! So it seems I may have been testing Beast Mode incorrectly according to Nokta. I'll release another video once I see their response to how to use Beast Mode the right way!
Thanks, Drew! Glad I could be able to help. So yeah long story short deep target looks great but beast im unsure when I'll use it. Maybe relic hunting? But even then I was getting more depth in the regular modes. Curious to see what they do this weekend!

wow that 1.14 update nice loud sound my mine lab etrac does not sound that good but etrac is harder one to learn 2 groups of numbers other then just the reg 2 but you cant update etrac like the rest of these newer ones
I just updated yesterday, i havnt been able to test it yet, but i watched paystreak superfreak's video and he said dt gives tones a scratchy irony tone, probably wont matter for me because i dig everythig, but could be an issue if youre trying to cherry pick targets
Totally agree! It's definitely different however I think it's the better part of this update. I don't see myself using beast mode in its current form. I felt the VDI was a big more accurate than the 1.11 update that I(Chris) run currently. I'll likely update soon. Thanks for watching
@@JerseyDigs I'm still not convinced,I thought they said it would only work on targets that had been in the ground for a long period, plus they did the park test with G on so the targets were disced out.aksi why didn't they try it in single frequency say 4 or 10 plus how deep were the targets, it all seems a bit of a set up!
@@pistolpete938 it all does seem a bit odd. Plus the fact that the frequency changes. I think beast mode is going to be a "last resort" option for me like once I've exhausted all the finds just to see if there's anything else hiding. Maybe turned farm fields as well.
@@JerseyDigs well first time out you are making pronouncements. You can't have it both ways. Good ex Aploratory video though--just not going to teach the new hunter anything conclusively. Also you do make the "first time out" qualification.

do the 2nd GB. also REC SPD "1" is not necessarily going to improve depth. You are having a conversaton with yourselves.

Beast mode is just an adjusted gold mode
Dilek says it's not.
It is said to be it's own separate mode, just hidden in Goldfield mode due to lack of screen space. But it does work very similarly.
