I suspect Kyle's objective is to end up with a car that's comfortable for he or his wife to drive on a regular basis. Keeping it original to 1969 would not create a car that I'd want to drive on a daily basis. That's probably why he wants to modernize it mechanically, while keeping it mostly original aesthetically.

@@michaeldalporto9517 I don't like restomods either. I like them original but with improvements like better brakes, suspension, steering and lighting.
This way you can have the best of both worlds.

maybe on a higher spec'd Chevelle, but he can do whatever he wants to a 4 door 307 car, they're basically worthless.

my 68 Impala fastback was a 307 car so it's pretty worthless and no one really cares about Impalas anyways so i won't offend anyone when i stuff my rebuilt 454 in it.

Yeah I know I need to be patient with the content y'all don't need to tell me twice. I just miss seeing new content for the 240sx and I Wish Kyle the best of luck for this Project that has been going on since 2016. Keep up the good work man.

The fact that I actually have a 1993 s10 blazer AND a 4 door chevelle in full resto mode makes these videos really necessary. If nobody else appreciates this content just know that I do. I really can’t believe how ironic it is that I just so happen to be working on both vehicles you cover to a full extent. 🙏🏼

I had this same 1969 Malibu 4 door sedan in gold with a green brocade bench seat interior. Mine was a 307 with a column mounted 3 speed, and AC. I had mine back in 1973-1974. Nice body style, and a great riding car. Have fun with this! 👍🏻

Hopefully this car gets restored like the day it rolled off of the assembly line. The updated suspension parts won’t be a bad idea but I’d try to keep the power train like the day it rolled off of the assembly line. There aren’t many 4 door 1969 Chevrolet Chevelles let alone one with the 307 V8. To quote a friend of mine: “Why alternate the originality if you don’t have to”

I love the idea of the factory color, but with the clearcoat it needed but GM never made. I'm with those who dislike the 18"+ wheels; They look goofy on a 1960s car.
That interior only needs an upholstery refresh, and I would add inertia reel seat belts as an upgrade.

Interesting piece of trivia; a few factory RHD 1964-69 Chevelles were built/sold in South Africa and they were 4 door sedan or hardtop only. All were 230-250 Sixes and either a 3spd column shift or PowerGlide.

In the mid 70’s, our maid had one that looked exactly like this one, with a 327 and column shift 3-speed. It had roughly a body colored interior. So you prob guessed, I would like you to put it back to bone stock looking, with a moderate performance upgrade. Rally 15 or 16 inch wheels would look good. I wouldn’t lower it at all. If you went with factory color, I’d approve of either a hood/top/trunk rally stripe, or some kind of side hockey stick stripe-white or black if you please. This is a family car. It doesn’t even need to be set up to go drag racing. Brakes, sway bars, springs, shocks might be all you need-other than worn components of course. However you do it, it will be killer. That I’m sure of. It has good bones. Won’t take much at all to make it a sweet sweet sleepy driver. Sometimes ppl get to modding so much that they lose sight of the original intent of the project. Just the old man opinion is all. Cheers.

I would do a factory restoration with upgrades that were available when it was new. You could do a 350 but make it look like a 307. Disc brakes for safety. Stock 15x7 rally wheels with whitewalls. Upgrade the steering wheel to the wood wheel that was available. I watched both videos and you say the seats have green inserts. The cloth fabric faded to a green but was originally black. I have seen the fade to green on many 60's cloth interiors. Just a few ideas. Keep it stock with options available when new but a bit of safety (brakes) as well. Looking forward to this build!

If this were my family heirloom, I'd restore it as close to original as I could. That would include the original drivetrain, hubcaps and all. For safety, I might consider upgrading the brakes, but not much else. For me, the whole idea would be to experience what my family member experienced when they drove it.

Hey kyle, i do recommend starting with frame repair, then body repair. You already have a running driving car, it just needs to be derusted and prepped first before really dropping money into it.
Tip: oldschool body filling using tin solder instead of bondo. It lasts longer and looks better.

  • @HowardLewis2
    @HowardLewis2 4 роки тому

It. has been said by others but the 307 and the PowerGlide are in solid shape a near factory restore on such a rare remaining four door would be an amazing timepiece to own. I get the practical desire to add front discs for safety and maybe fuel injection for practicality. Otherwise, dropping in a modern hopped up engine and transmission while a technical achievement just seems to be throwing away a perfectly good cruiser and near museum piece. What was it really like to drive a fully functioning everyday care in the late 60s and early 70s Kyle knows. Just my two cents. I do enjoy your channel. Also, my wife wants a house update. Thank you.

Here are the things Kyle should have done to finish his Project Vehicles in order and to partially reduce stress.
    Finish the 240sx 1st
Then work on the Chevelle 2nd
    And the S10 3rd
By jumping to other projects constantly your not gonna be able to achieve your goals by finishing your first Project vehicle. Take my advice. You buy a Car, You wanna build it. Then when you have finally finished your Project Car/Truck you move on to another Car/Truck. NOT jump around other projects because your not gonna finish the first Project that you wanted to build at first. Making your 240 mostly incompleted. Take my advice with a grain of Salt

Make it a sleeper! Do whatever you're gonna do to the drivetrain and suspension, but do the body LAST. Some Gorilla tape around the back window should do it!It kept water from getting in the trunk of my Studebaker for years!
My first car was a '68 BelAir 4-door with a 307.That engine was bulletproof;you just had to 'feed the beast' (keep the oil topped off). You have at least 100K miles left on her! When you part ways with that 307,let me know.
As far as wheels go,I'd go with a set of Chevy Rally wheels, with rings and caps of course.I think Wheel Vintiques or similar vendors have them in non-stock sizes.Just my 2 cents here.
