ASMR The Gothic Cathedral of Vienna (soft spoken, pointing & tracing)

- Today we're looking at the medieval heart in the centre of Vienna: its gothic cathedral, the Stephansdom. It has a fascinating history, much of which is still covered somewhere underneath the stone. We'll have a look at its towers, only one of which is finished, at the fire that burned down the original roof at the very end of WWII, and its famous bell, the Pummerin, which traditionally rings in the new year.

Your videos are like wrapping up in a soft fuzzy blanket, but for my brain. Your hand movements, accent, voice, content, thoughtful commentary, etc are my ideal asmr. 🤩🌃
I agree wholeheartedly with this comment 🙂

Hello Julie, I'm very very happy about this, thank you!!
i totally agree!
I am so excited to have discovered your channel. I love your soothing voice and the educational elements. And I love Vienna! This video is perfect.
Thank you, Katie!! 🥰
beautiful - I love the Stephansdom, and being right in the old city is such a magical setting.
Can you imagine you could just drive past it in your car in the 50s 😅😅 It's so nice now when you can stroll around and visit a market or little festival there...
Great presentation of the magnificent beauty of the Stephansdom and it s prominent role in the centre of Vienna. Thank You Melange.
I have very strong, delightful memories of first coming across the western entrance to it way back in 1984. It was in the early night time and the whole courtyard and street area for a long way was magical with all sorts of very large artistic murals on the ground. Lots of art based vendors working away and spruiking their offerings, lots of busking musicians. Packed out with people mingling or just sitting down and quietly taking it all in. Singing along and spending the evening there. All this rich culture under the backdrop of St Stephens lit up majestically. Fantastic experience. Very strong spiritual connections with the historic Viennese culture is how it came across to me. Loved it. Did not get back until I think 1999 and was eager to experience this again. Unfortunately the coffee shop culture had then replaced the very rich art based culture of those days. Nevertheless, will always treasure that time and very glad to have been able to experience it.
Surprises me that the gothic style architecture went out of fashion during the renaissance period. I love the gothic and it seems strange the revival of European art and literature phased out the gothic.
Will be going through your video again. Lots in there to understand and it brings back those magical memories.
Fascinating content. Love the historical analysis. So cool.
Hey there, thank you for watching and for your comments 💙 Glad you enjoyed the little history trip.
Looking forward to falling asleep to this one. I started working nights recently so I've been rewatching the map videos to help me sleep in the day
Night shifts sounds exhausting, I hope the transition went well for you! I'm glad I can help you sleep 😴 🥰

I can’t like this video again but I can comment again 😂. Beautifully done. Definitely on my Mélange’s Austria list ❤
Aww I love this ❤❤
Thank you 🥰🥰
Unfortunately, the one and only time I was in Vienna, the Stephansdom appeared to be undergoing a major renovation, and there was scaffolding all around the major towers. Hopefully someday I'll get to see it again.
Due to the nature of the stone it is made of, it is basically impossible to see the Stephansdom without some scaffolding. Once they are finished with cleaning one part, they need to start over again with the other part...
Like Sophia said, the scaffolding is pretty much a constant - but right now the northern tower and the facade are free and there is even a new art installation, an illuminated "ladder to the sky" all the way up to the top of of the tower, which you can see from all across the city.
Sweet!!
Makes me want to visit you beautiful city even more than before!
Yesss your should, it's a great place to visit!
What book is that? I love architecture books like this and so I might buy one if it’s available in English
It's by Reinhard Gruber, "Der Wiener Stephansdom", and it looks like there is a translation called "St. Stephan's Cathedral in Vienna".
👍🏼
could you make a Video about Dresden? I Life there and it's simply wonderful
I've written it down, but I have a lot of open requests at the moment, so no promises. Thank you for the suggestion, though! I don't really know Dresden, but that sounds lovely.
@@MelangeASMR thx for the answers and yes no worries I can imagine the amount of requests ^^
When you said "Hello there" I ended up saying "general kenobi" :')
:)
are there people arguing downstairs? :D
No 😭 that's the neighbour's normal voice, he's home 24/7 and has a lot of things to say 😭😭
