I'm an actor. I know actors who worked on Spencer for Hire. They all had great stories about what a decent guy Robert Urich was. And that he was totally professional on set. They said he was a pleasure to work with. And that he was wonderful with his kids and his wife Heather.
Robert Urich was a remarkable human being. It's funny hearing so much about Vega$ because Decades binge showed it this past weekend. Being an 80's baby, I know him as Spenser. I was in preschool when Spenser For Hire first aired & I fell in love with him. I still love him. He was an angel on Earth, taken way too soon.
Bobby was always so inspiring, even through pain & sickness & with the rubbish & backlash coming from the industry due to his illness. Yet he never caved in or gave up. Truly remarkable stamina. I always appreciated the fact that he never allowed the business of the industry to get into his head. He remained a man of value. Not only was he tremendously talented, he was strikingly breathtakingly handsome, yet he did not realize this. He always had a twinkle in his eyes & it was never lost throughout his life journey. He was also off the cuff immensely comedic, just naturally funny, yet at the same time, very philosophical & extremely humble & generous with his time & giving. He was a hunk of a man, both in stature & character & simply gorgeous to look upon. I will forever miss his contagious smile. He touched many by his genuineness. He was a gem. He is forever missed, & in my estimation, taken home way too soon. He had more to give, but for his 55 years, he gave it all. He won the battle; & won the more important role: being home, freed, with Jesus! ✝ Missing you Handsome! 💋Can't wait to hear you singing again. 🚿💘
Been watching SWAT on Crackle TV and Spenser: For Hire on IMDb TV during this COVID period, he's always been a favorite. I remember when a write in occurred to keep Spenser going after season 2. I wish there would have been more than 3 seasons.
#Wow! This is a great and thoughtful interview--and in fact Vega$, as a ABC series, has aged well..Some of the plots in season 3 were a bit thin, but many of the episodes were very well done... and Vega$ really started Robert Urich's huge run as a popular television series star...
I loved him in Senser for Hire. Huge loss! 😢 Psyched to watch Turk 182!!! One could feel his true personality comming through in the series Spencer. Hawk was anintergal part of that series. Love Avery Brooks also.
I had a MAJOR CRUSH on Robert Urich. My favorite author is Robert Parker. SO when he became 'Spenser' I was thrilled! The best of both worlds kind of thing for me ....... also, AVERY BROOKS NAILED the character of Hawk!!! I wish this series would be revitalized by Netflix or Hulu. Mark Wahlberg portrayed 'Spenser' in a movie ..... and he did a good job, but he did not have that quirky kind of charisma that Urich had ..... PLUS - the actor that played Hawk fell way short of the mark!!!
Great interview. Thank u for uploading this. I loved Vega$ and I am currently watching Spenser for Hire for the first time and this insight into his world at that time is excellent. Seems like he was one hell of a person.
My mother used to watch Spenser for hire 1985-88 Who knew that Robert would take the leading role title character, and I felt bad for Spenser for not getting respected and always gotten treated wrong and yes the bad black mutha brotha Avery Brooks who plays Hawk. Rip Robert
Someone took Robert's memoir notes and incorporated them into an autobiography. Wondering who this interviewer is and whether he could be the writer? Incidentally, awesome interview. Tells a lot about the man and his work. Thanks for sharing
This man is god send I wish I could have meet him I love love how he said he don't like rock n roll music he said its evil and I agree 💯percent with him love you man and I love this interview
I always watched “Vegas” . I thought it was. Spencer’s for Hire that he never did . I guess it was Lazarus Man . I have to say I never watched him in an interview. I found him very interesting. We lost him at 55 years old in 2001. Such a loss
They don't make real tv stars like this anymore. Robert Urich, Michael Landon, Tom Selleck, Bill Cosby, Jim Garner, Lucille Ball, Robert Wagner etc. All had multiple hit shows in different decades which doesn't happen too often and is hard to do. The type of real actor who had talent, warmth, charm and humility is so rare now it's almost non existent.
I agree except for Cosby and Wagner - one’s a sex offender while the other is a wife murderer. But there’s something missing from a lot of our actors today. None have that salt-of-the-earth, down-to-earth, wholesome allure that used to grace our screens. They’re all robotic PC-ridden, preachy, oddballs now. We still have Mark Harmon at least.
@@thebrowithnoname1703 true about Cosby. But I included him because despite his real life atrocities he was still a super tv star who had a hit show in almost every decade. But yeah Mark Harmon I guess is one of the last of a dying breed along with Chuck Norris and Tony Danza.
I miss Robert Urich. There was something innately decent about him.
Wish I could find a man just like him. 💔 love and miss him.
Just a beautiful soul will always love and miss him xx
He was a fox that's for sure.
He was such a good actor and a great guy. Miss him.....Spencer..
