Genuinely think that all roguelikes/lites should have some sorta spreadsheet madness built-in for tracking your run history. One of my favourites, Towerclimb (which is a less Derek-intensive, but also a bit slower roguelike platformer inspired by Spelunky) has it and it's so lovely to see the density of runs that make it far increasing over time.
I hate that Spelunky 2 doesn't track all the stats for you :(. It would be so easy for them to implement. Even if it just had a file that people had to write programs to read, I would be happy.
@@ZantierTasa I know right, and even as it is it kind of already has a framework for what information a stats page could tell you - at the end of each winning run it gives you an overview of where you picked up each item, what route you took, whether you ate any turkey, robbed shopkeepers, and so on. All they would need to do is save these for each run you do and then create a few bar charts and they've got a completely functional stats page. And Spelunky 2 clearly had some great programmers on the team (given how great the fluid physics are) so these would not be difficult in the slightest.
You know you have a dedicated fan base, when someone whips out their Masters in Statistics out
Dude really made a chart for the average Dan and went
*R^2 for Time per Floor linear relation = 0.970*
bro had to prove the correlation was strong!! super cool that 123aaa made this stat sheet!!
16:15 We all know this stream is funny, but I wasn't prepared for chat's hardest line: "Boomers at my workplace sit with their demons in silence."
