Thank you. I have been a student of American History for over 55 years, I enjoyed listening to this history and I enjoy your channel a lot and look forward to the next installment.
Thank you, just love the details, time of incidents! If I may, you might want to check the pronunciation of "posse comitatus". Also a sketch of the house and chicken coop, fence, etc would help. Keep up the good work!
Posse Comitatus, not comitus... Doesn't matter how many times I hear a story of the Lincoln County War there are always new tidbits that come to light. And you're a helluva storyteller!
So many people are so happy with The Official version of historical events. All the bizarre, contradictory and inaccurate accounts are just accepted because the House said so. it's no wonder so many logical people are conflicted.
I love this. So, the shoot out at the burning house and the shootout at the court house were on the same street..? Wow, I wonder what Billy thought when he was in jail before he killed Bell and Bob…”I’ve survived a burning house and almost getting hanged in this town” 😅
The Kid's escape from the courthouse (on the same street) wasn't a "shoot-out." The Kid did all the shooting, killing 2 lawmen, then sitting on the 2nd floor balcony for an hour as he sawed off his ankle chains before riding out of town.
I'm moving to Roswell soon (to get away from the Awfully Overcrowded Dallas Metropolis) and I'm so glad the Old West Roswell is mentioned and recognized rather than the UFO stuff_ Not that I disbelieve the Chavez County UFO Crash, but there's too much focus as Roswell being the 'Alien City', rather than it's proper place, as an Old West Town
You may find it interesting that the property where the 1947 "UFO" incident occurred was owned by one William "Mac" Brazel. He was a nephew of Jesse Wayne Brazel who confessed to, was tried and acquitted for, the killing of Pat Garrett. So you cannot get completely away from the UFO thing in Roswell, given it connects back to Pat Garrett!
There were some documentaries that have vanished from UA-cam. One which you were in was from the late 80’s or early 90’s perhaps the most comprehensive of all. It was lengthy and went into great and meticulous detail on almost every aspect of the Lincoln County War including The Kid’s escape from the McSween house. Is the documentary still available?
Even though I don't believe Pat Garrett killed Billy the kid I mean his daughter said he admitted to her that he didn't. Both deputy said they lied on paperwork when they knew it was not Billy the kid. And pet Garrett told Billy the kid's brother something that he liked as the brother wanted to kill him and after the meeting he actually shook hands with him. People can believe what they want I'm not necessarily talking about brushy Bill I'm talking about Billy the kid did not die that day and the people that believe he did then nothing is going to change their mind. Be that as it may Billy the kid wasn't really a murderer for example if West Harding or wild Bill longley had cutting up on the strange men on the porch they probably would have done them down and then found out later who they were. There is only three men that Billy the kid can be absolutely tied to killing the rest he was there and he might have fired the shot but probably didn't looking at this way when Sharon Brady was going down along with his deputy there was six men shooting at them Billy the kid hated despised Billy Matthews he would have been shooting at Billy Matthews who survived. There's only three men that can absolutely positively be tied to Billy the kid the rest of them may or may not have been killed by Billy the kid there's really no way of knowing
Love him or hate him, Billy the Kid was quite a character by anyone's standards. That is why I find it so disgusting that some people try to give an old, demented huckster like Brushy Bill Roberts the laurels rightfully belonging to Billy the Kid.
Until Marion Turner arrived with a large posse -- the Dolan gang were mostly holed up in the Torreon.....perhaps the biggest killing in Lincoln was 29 April when the 7 Rivers' boys fought each other .
This is the worst, most biased presentation of Col Dudley's actions I've yet seen on UA-cam. He busted the intent and letter of the new law 6 ways from Sunday. He specifically needed Govenor approval to enter in to this situation and had none. It's a great example of one officer covering for two buddy former officers (Murphy and Dolan) and his own financial interests. He should have sent troops into both 'camps' but instead mixed his men with Dolan's. He allowed (if not ordered) black soldiers to fire on the house and occupants and had 3 black troops with the Dolan murderers when those in the house tried to exit and were part of those who shot a surrendering unarmed McSween. The army Court martialed him, but much like Reno after the Custer disaster wanted to distance themselves from bad publicity.
Did we both watch the same presentation? I was under the impression that Col. Dudley did the wrong thing by sending troops there 🤷♂️ That whole “women and children” thing was a sham - of course. Instead of ordering both sides to stand down it only served the special interests of Dolan and Murphy.
Kudos all around Bob. Pals? We all have that headstone carved into our collective Old West memory. Then the tale of Patrick Floyd Garrett and Wm.H Bonney having a genuine freindship. Shed some light on this subject for us if you would. The tale gets stuck in my craw like trail dust. Mighty nasty situation to consider. Track down apprehend and possibly kill a freind. Tom O.Folliard is killed Charlie Bowdre also laid low. Two of the three Pals who shared a tombstone. Not a freindly act. Nor does it seem likely that Billy would have taken this lightly considering how he responded to the deaths of Tunstill and McSween. Secondly… the provenance of said tombstone. Who chose to honor these three fellas.?Why the short but very touching four letters “PALS”? Happy Trails.
Looks like bob is outta ideas. Stagnant. Its either billy or wyatt every month. Time for some fresh perspective on the editorial board. BBB is ZZZ.....
I don’t care what anyone says, I’m just glad we are still telling this story in 2022. God bless Billy The Kid🤠
We need billy the kids now more than ever, it's pretty sad what the human race has become.

Julian "the kid" Assange is going through a similar battle now.

Fascinating!!
Yes. I should have got your autograph when you were in Deadwood recently. I have been kicking myself
Thank you
Excellent 👍
Standing by!
I love this. So, the shoot out at the burning house and the shootout at the court house were on the same street..?
Wow, I wonder what Billy thought when he was in jail before he killed Bell and Bob…”I’ve survived a burning house and almost getting hanged in this town” 😅
The Kid survived many shootouts on that most dangerous street in America, Lincoln New Mexico.
The Kid's escape from the courthouse (on the same street) wasn't a "shoot-out." The Kid did all the shooting, killing 2 lawmen, then sitting on the 2nd floor balcony for an hour as he sawed off his ankle chains before riding out of town.
It's posse comitatus. Excellent presentation, as usual.

Did you know that Pat Garrett and Doc Scurlock were from neighboring counties in Alabama? What are the chances of that? Nice video

Cool!😎🏜❤
I need to correct you Bob it's, "posse comitatus," there is an; "A" in between two "T"s not comidus as said at 5:02.
Did you say Billy the Kid's real name is MCarty?
Was that enough fire power⁉️⁉️😱😂😂

wow!... the kid had luck on his side more than once or twice
The correct term was "Posse Comitatus". It STILL exists in Colorado State Law.
Until Marion Turner arrived with a large posse -- the Dolan gang were mostly holed up in the Torreon.....perhaps the biggest killing in Lincoln was 29 April when the 7 Rivers' boys fought each other .
A Company of cavalry AND a Company of infantry would have been MORE than only 35 men!
🖤🖤
Seems the "Law" were the criminals in this case.

Happy Trails.
shouldn't that be most infamous
Billy who?
The whole posse was rogue or else 1 half the posse would have arrested the rogue half for murder
Did Billy and John Tunstall have an open relationship or were they monogamous?
POSSE COMITATUS
