Facts.
It's awesome Cleetus gives him the praise he deserves cuz he put in a ton of work into that car and not just in this latest turbo setup. Working in that shop by himself probably most the time. And building his own car probably after hours or whenever he had spare time. It's always cool to see someone's hard work paid off. Hopefully they don't break for awhile and they can just have fun with them!

8:15 paint a line on the shaft. That way if the paint isn’t visible it’s not all the way out. Just a simple witness mark that can be checked when the parachute is armed.

well compared to the engine that was supposed to be in it, it was a piece of crap. i dont know why they ever even cared. they drop TS crates in literally everything. not that thats a bad thing but had it had the LS in it, they wouldve did something to the engine, and it would still have the same engine it has now.

@@HotDogBunN2YG Yeah, what they did with Neighbor was interesting, pulling a motor out of that wrecked GT500, but now it's got some crate motor in it, cause they got excited with nitrous. They're focusing more now on their fastest cars, which all have the 427 cause it makes a ton of power and is easy enough to install. They handmade the turbo kit and did everything else with the car, it's not like they didn't build the car cause they put a 427 in it.

James just rebuilt and rewired everything. Cleetus changed kevins base tune to get it to idle. That was all James.

@@pyrocl0 think they've said before during a previous turbo swap that they could put it in a better spot but that turbo location is basically ruby's signature feature so they've continued to put the turbo there.

@@sawspitfire422 as we are seeing with Ruby, Powerglides are a significant limitation in quarter-mile racing. Great in the eighth, but over 1320 feet you are going to need at least three gears or else you'll hit a brick wall in terms of mph. Ruby has gone faster than Leroy purely because Leroy can't hook straight and launch smoothly. Leroy makes WAY more MPH up top.
As much as I love Leroy and all the other cars, I started watching when Ruby first got bought. This is such an amazing moment, James and Cleet have built such a solid ripper, Kevin also needs some credit on the old girl.
Ruby's first launch was insane. I've never seen it hook like that. Zero tire spin, all go. Sick as hell, love the passion you all put into this and bringing us along for the ride.

The days of Leroy driving AROUND Ruby are over.
Leroy has been faster but it won't be long.
It wouldn't be that hard to have Leroy go faster if they put the same amount of work in to him as they did Ruby.

But Leroy obviously was trapping much higher mph. On RMRR, Ruby is out in front, but leroy hunts it down on the big end.
But now, Ruby is trapping a similar speed as Leroy with the new turbo... so Leroy won't be catching up to Ruby on the big end anymore.
You know Leroy is getting bigger turbos right?
@@adrianwelgemoed9562 Exactly, in fact Leroy had made a 184.75 mph pass (8.02) recently day 5 at RMRW 2.0, and at World cup 2019 where he ran a 7.791 @ 186.43 in another. I think Leroy quickest is that 7.79 though, but has laid down many passes at or beyond 185 mph.
Yeeeeeyee!!! Ruby you absolute unit, finally got not just a 7 second pass but went 7.74! That’s going down in the history books as the most legendary moment since ole Leroy ran his first 7 second pass. I won’t be forgetting this for a very long time.

Honestly, with a better transmission than the Powerglide giving a wider spread of ratios, and the boost cranked to 32psi, that thing could have a 6 in it...

@@richardharrold9736 Wouldn’t need a transmission. Some slightly taller diff gears and more boost and Ruby would be into the low 7s on the current set up. She runs out of gearing at the end of the run.
@@robertshepherd995 taller gearing would compromise the launch, though. I know there are guys putting 2000bhp through built 4L80s in much heavier cars- having four gears would make such a difference!

anyone that knows even a small bit about drag racing and cars knew it would happen. it only took this long so he could rake in all the views from stretching it out with a bunch of stock engines and different set ups.

@@unclehulka13 To me, the usual cast of characters are on the same team really. Like the Boostedboiz. They're all like a crew that roll together and support one another. I mean, Cleet isn't with 1320video anymore but 1320 supports him all the way, and gave him his start. There's still a lot of teamwork among them all even if they aren't all on the same payroll.

So stoked for you guys. James and Garrett make such a good team and all the work James put into the turbo system on Ruby is really showing off. You could tell just how hard Ruby left even in video. Cant wait to see if it goes deeper into the 7s and how much "faster" the 240 goes.
I knew when you guys first fired up this latest version of Ruby that it would do a 7. You can hear the difference. So much more throaty sounding, and that usually always means good things!

I know James is an employee but you guys are becoming great friends I can’t imagine anyone else being on the team. This video was so badass!
There was a time where I couldn’t bare the idea of ruby topping Leroy and taking the crown in a sense, but through all the iterations and changes and races you guys competed at and for, I have to say I’ve never been more proud to see how far this little red C6 has come, well done brothers.
I’m so glad cleetus started liking drag racing again. I get that some people like the variety of content, but for me, it’s just the drag racing and the old shop/build days that do it for me

I don't think he ever quit liking it. There just hasn't been many events this year. He did 2 drag weeks, tested ruby as many times as he could. Now this event and cleetus and cars coming up soon think we'll see racing pick back up if places start allowing events. And i agree that i miss the days when they worked on the cars together in the shop. It's just on to bigger and better things I guess pulling Cleet out of the shop. Maybe he'll build a shop at the freedom factory for James to work out of and they'll spend more time working together.
I agree, drifting just leaves me cold - I find it difficult to be behind him because it's not really something you can "win" like you can drag. But hey it's his channel and he can do what he likes.
