- Hi everyone! I know I’m a bit late, but omg video editing takes soooo long - worth it though!
On the 24th August 2023, I got my GCSE results and enrolled at sixth form. Had such an amazing time reuniting with friends and saying my farewell to all the English poetry/literature I would thankfully never have to do again :)
Here is to another 2 years of studying 🎉

watching these videos motivate me even more, ik its been 7 months but youve done outstanding and i hope my results turn out the same. :)
Thank you so much for the kind words and I wish you all the best with your results 🥳
I will be uploading a daily video (YT Short) about what I do every day so maybe you might find that interesting 😂
Congratulations your results are amazing im taking GCSEs next year and hope to get as good results as you hopefully 🙏. What alevels are you doing.
Tysm for the message! And I'm doing Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science, Physics and EPQ. Physics and Further Maths are pretty hard ngl, but computer science and maths are alright
Hi , that's a great combination and I understand they can be hard , wishing you all the best of luck.
bro getting 228/240 on maths is insane
Ty! 🙏 I hope you get the results you work hard for 💪😌
@@alexlostorto ty, new subscriber
@@alexlostorto idk how you’ve done that I need a grade 5 for my college course and I’m shitting myself
@@stamvidigitalwebsolutions I sweated Maths since primary 😅
this video is so cool, congrats once again
I really appreciate the comment! I hope to post more videos soon 💫
Can you please make a video on how you revised for each of you subjects🙏 :)
congrats,these are amazing grades. hopefully i can get something similar this year. and ngl one month left and i am not prepared.
Ty bro. I wish you all the best with your GCSEs, just make sure to sleep enough and keep calm - keeping calm and sleeping well is an absolute superpower! Keep doing past papers and revising your weaknesses, and you'll do amazing!
Never too late to get on the grind 💫
thanks for the vid and congrats on your results !! i was just wondering if you hand any revision tips for maths and english lit and lang :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! I posted this video a whole year ago so I'm sorry that I was waffling a lot of the time 😭
~~~MATHS~~~
1) Read the question at least twice and circle/underline any numbers, units or key words.
2) For 'show that/prove' questions, make sure to show every step of your working clearly.
3) Practice sine and cosine rule as well as the circle theorems!
4) Practice checking over your answers effectively. Check whether your solution is sensible, whether you used the correct sides, angles, equations etc. If you have a lot of time, you can completely redo a question to see if you get the same answer the second time!
5) Do an algebra exercise (expanding brackets, factorising...) every day to prevent making silly mistakes.
6) Try lots of worded questions, because those are the ones that will trip you up!
~~~ENGLISH LIT~~~
1) Get into the habit of writing analytical paragraphs for every key topic in your texts. For example every few days, you can write an essay on one of your texts. Or you could just write one paragraph each day (~10 mins). I did not do this because I hated writing, so I barely got an 8 🫡
2) On a regular basis, for each key theme and text, go through 3 quotes and mention at least 2 different ideas you could say about each one. Eventually, you should be able to instantly remember the language techniques and writer's purpise behind each quote.
~~~ENGLISH LANG~~~
1) Read a piece of descriptive writing each day and try to include a phrase or word in your own writing.
2) Use the correct source when they tell you to 💀 A classmate used the wrong source and got 0 for that reason.
3) The last question (writing section) is worth half the paper. If you haven't finished the first half, after half the time, just leave it and move to the writing section.
4) Practice embedding structural techniques (cyclical, sentence variety, repetition of sentences, motif...) and creating a captivating flow through your writing.
Lastly, make sure you eat, drink and sleep enough! Believe in yourself and you will do great 💫
i really appreciate the advice as my gcse's are so so soon 😭also thanks so much for replying even after a whole year haha 😅
thats so real about missing the question in science !! I finished so early so i was just checking though my paper when in the last 5 minutes I saw i literally had a whole 2 pages left that i hadn't done so at least you weren't as stupid as me haha. (it was okay in the end as i came out with a 9-8 so i wasn't too annoyed!!) Also, although I did french (which was out of 240), I ony lost 7 marks too!!! Congrats on your amazing results!!! Please pls pls yes do more videos, especially videos about college!!
Aww that's the nicest comment I have received so far omg.
It really means so much to me tysm
Glad you enjoyed the video! And promise not to miss any pages next time :)
I will try my best to upload more videos, but college study schedule is soo packed haha
You are my motivation!!!
I promise haha , i've definitely learned my lesson not to skip any pages!! (at least it wasn't my A-levels ;) ) I hope you are enjoying college so far, i'm wishing you all the best
Yeah college is going pretty well! Wish you all the best too 😋 I uploaded a new video today with a friend i literally made just 2 days before haha. Hope you like it!! 🥰
Congrats on your results Alex ❤🎉
Tysm for the compliment and for commenting on my video 🥰 Well done on your results!!! You took a lot of hard subjects (music, dance, french...) so you must've been busy!
@@alexlostortoyeah, must have been busy
btw, i will be taking french, maths and business for sixth form. My first sixth form assembly will be on the 8th September 2023 and lessons will commence on 11th September on Monday. And what about you? Which A-Levels are you taking for Sixth Form and when does your Sixth Form assembly start? And when will Sixth form lessons commence for you?
@@AlishaSisupalan My notifications don't work for UA-cam comments for some reason 🥲 Pls spam my @ and I will probably reply haha.
I'm taking Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computer Science, EPQ
and my sixth form lessons started the same day of our assembly which was 4th September.
Thanks for your comment!!!
@@alexlostorto those are very good subjects! good luck 🤞
Ik im a bit late. congrats! btw how did u get a 9 in stats . im currently in y10 and my stats paper 1 is on the 5th june
Sadly stats is very similar to English and I struggled quite a lot at English tbh 😂
I used resources from statsacademy.co.uk and they were super useful! They have A3 sheets with super condensed information as well as booklets that summarise all the key info you need to know!
Best way to prepare is to do example questions and memorise exactly what you need to write to get the mark.
9 times out of 10 people lose marks just because they don't relate it back to the context of the question - so make sure to always link it back to what is mentioned in the question!
Hope that helps, good luck 🙏
@@alexlostorto thank you so much! ur a life saver im currently predicted an 8 but i barely undrstand anything
did you do the statistics and engineering exams outside of school?
Nope, engineering (actually called Product Design) was offered by my school. Statistics was an extra option that anyone could take but you had to stay after school once a week for 2 years to take it. My statistics teacher told me that most schools that offer statistics don't offer it as a proper subject, but as an additional one that they can study after school.
I was given the option to take Further Maths and Computer science in the last 2 months, and I studied these independently. But luckily computer science was mostly common sense, and further maths was mostly normal maths, so it was still possible to do well on them.
@@alexlostorto thanks for the clarification bro
@@AAGamerW No worries, leave a comment any time, I reply to all comments 🙏
Vid goes hard
🔥
Hey, im going to take igcses next year, any tips ?
I asked my friends what advice I should give, one said to "believe in yourself" and the other said "revise innit" 😂 Which tbh is great advice!
I don't know much about iGCSEs, but advice for studying is usually quite straightforward:
- Stay healthy (eat, drink, exercise)
- Revise your weak areas
- Use the specification as a checklist to assess what you do and don't need to know
- Use the mark scheme (by doing past papers) to remember key terminology and how to phrase your answers
- Take fun breaks (go to a park, eat outside, crochet...) to make sure you don't burn out and that your study sessions are effective!
@@alexlostorto haha 😭😭 thanks for the advice thoo
good vid and congrats on the results you seem like a cool guy bro
im in y11 rn, gcses in just 4 months at this point
hows sixth form been?
Haha ty for the compliment and I'm sure you're even cooler
Sixth form has been pretty good so far I'm so lucky, I definitely wish I was more prepared over the summer though! Have note-taking and revision techniques all planned out and already be looking for jobs, competitions, open evenings, work experience, scholarships etc. Many competitions started in October, but since I was just getting used to the a-level workload, I barely had any time to prepare for competitions and flopped on them so yh wished I had more time for that 😂
Do you have any tips, im going to year 11 in September and i havent revised at all this summer but i want to get all 9s next year, is that possible? The subjects im doing are :
Maths
English
Triple science
Computer science
Mechanical engineering (mechatronics)
samee
I did 11 GCSEs this year and got 11 9s - I didn’t really revise in the ‘normal’ way cos I was a bit lazy. Didn’t print out last papers at all for science. Instead I thought of the answer I was gonna write and then looked at the mark scheme so I got through papers much quicker. For science I also knew content by the mocks so it was easy to relearn for exams. Maths didn’t need to revise but it’s all about practise questions once you know the content. Look at the the specification for science for your exam board for sciences cos it’s exactly what you need to know; for languages do the same and learn the OFFICAL vocabulary list by your exam board as it’s all they’ll ask. For English I just practiced essays with my teachers analysis for English lit (lang just practice). Same for history
@@josh4625 Wow, thank you so much for this, it's really helpful!!!
@@josh4625 do u think cgp books are good for science
@@josh4625 Thanks for all the comments guys... i really appreciate every single one
When did you start revising?
I spent a LOT of time revising. I worked really hard ever since primary school, learning stuff like trig while in Year 6.
But in terms of actual GCSE revision, I'd probably say ever since Year 10 since we had mocks near the end of the year. We were essentially forced to start revising early on.
@@alexlostorto Thanks!
were you ocr for psychology
Yes 👍🏼
Nerd 😂 joking congrats. You do not need all top grades but top grades in areas you want to focus on or for your career.
Thanks for the funny comment! It made my day 😂 I hope to show that there's so much more to life than just studying all the time! Go watch my other videos and see if you still think I'm a nerd 😉
And tysm for the congratulations 🙏 I wish you the best with everything!
can i have your blessing as a grade 9 to also get 9's
“Oh Allah (swt)! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can make the difficult easy.”
I just read this du'a for you, insha'Allah you will do well in your exams 🙏
Eat enough, sleep well and believe in yourself!!!
This is the reason why the year 10s are gonna fail
why
i need tips for combined science and English lang 🥲 what website did u use for exam practise ? allahumabarik
For combined science I just used past papers and watched UA-cam videos on certain topics, but it was a VERY inefficient and dull way to revise, so I would recommend using Seneca or PMT (physics and maths tutor) to first consolidate the knowledge then do past papers.
For English lang, just read a model answer every morning and then try to incorporate a nice word or phrase into your writing that day so you are gradually building up a repertoire of impressive vocab!
Hope that helps and jazakallah khair for the nice comment 🙏
@@alexlostorto that helped sm thank u!! One last question.. how many hours did you do this time last year from now until ur GCSEs?
@@user-yo5rx2dd8f I honestly don't remember 🥲 But studying consistently and effectively, as well as keeping healthy is the biggest priority!
If that means you can only revise 1 hour a day after school then that's ok!
