The brush retaining pin for the 22 si I have actually installs and removes from beneath a ground bolt on the back of the alternator. In your video it is shown where I would have expected it. Thanks for the video.
Mike, not sure if you are still rebuilding, but I had a question on the 22si. Does the "R" terminal strap that goes to the rectifier need an insulator where it attaches to the case? In other words, those two straps you say not to touch, do they both have insulators where they are bolted to the case? Thanks!!!
I seen where someone said a alternator can be converted to 24 volts. by changing the regulator. is that possible. I know it would cut the amps in half. if it is possible. I have 2, 22si alts to rebuild and convert. I need some 24 volt alternators. so I bought 2 22 si. delco.alts. either way I can use them.
I am unsure as to what the question is. If you are asking why we pull the pin at the 18 min mark. You do that in order to have the brushes make contact with the commutator. If you are asking why we do the video in 18 mins. It is to help explain rebuilding a 22SI.
