This video will show you everything you need to know about taking a home HIV test. I'm undetectable now, watch to see if it turns out positive or not. It tests for the HIV antibody, not the virus itself, so it should show a positive since I am HIV positive.

I just want to say thank you. You are the reason I went to get tested. I was terrified after having unprotected sex. We weren't tested together. I just trusted what he said about being tested every 6 months. I took the test and I'm negative. I feel very lucky because it could have been different. Anyone can get this. Don't fool yourselves and judge other people. You are at risk no matter what color you are, if you're married, in a relationship etc, etc, etc. Use condoms and get tested with a new partner before having sex. I will still use condoms from now on even if we test negative. I will have a tough time not using them if I remarry.

I do not have HIV. The information that Jennifer is providing is invaluable. I am old enough where I remember when HIV was a death sentence. My son is gay. He does not have HIV. However, there are risk factors that he has. I have learned so much through his life. HIV really is a human disease. It is not the "gay plague" or anything like that. Frankly, I admire her strength. I do not know if I could handle HIV with the strength that she has. Just good to see a positive channel with a lot of the negative nonsense that you may read on the internet. Best of health and success to you Ben and once again to you too Jennifer. Be well.

You're right. HIV isn't a death sentence, never was. AIDS is though. I would tell you to ask my best friend and his wife but they are now deceased from complications of AIDS to 10 years apart almost to the day. I think it's reckless to say it's just an inconvenience. Like it's rush hour traffic or something. People should protect themselves to avoid the "inconvenience."

There’s a natural scaremongering when it comes to HIV/AIDS. I really can’t imagine what you’ve been through and finding out your diagnosis but it’s great to see you’re leading a normal life. I’m not going to lie AIDs has always scared me senseless and that’s due to the ‘old’ aids, without medication and certain death. I would still irrationally be scared to have contact with someone with hiv/aids but your videos are educating me and giving me confidence that with or without hiv/aids you can still be ‘normal’ :)

Everyone should be tested, even if you know there is no way you could possibly be positive., especially if your in a new relationship. This is the only way we can stop this horrific disease. And I had them tested too due to fear of exposure when kissing boo-boos. Thank you so much for this. I do have a question though? How did you feel towards your ex for giving you this and not telling you? Did you contact the clinic that didn't notify you and ask them why?

You’re helping so many people and I just want to say thank you so much. Something you said in this video put me at ease. When you said ‘the antibodies should still be detectable even though i’m undetectable’. I had a ‘reactive’ rapid test result but started taking pep within the interim period of getting my results back. I had secondary tests done and I came back negative. However my concern was that the pep made me undetectable to the test and thats why I tested negative. So you saying that if I was reactive on the antibody test initially I should still be reactive even now. I will find out me results on either the 14th or 15th but I just want to thank you for what you’re doing ❤️

People do need to know that every strain of the virus is different and there are ppl who are not so lucky. Specific strains mutated and we are always doing reserch and hope to soon have a vaccine. But just bc she's healthy, she's contracted a strain that we've been successfully treating with hopes of eradicating. Some of the strains are aggressive and strong, viruses are much more aggressive are still taking lives

Also, I have a friend who is gay and is always getting sick; also, he keeps always complaining about his bottom hurting. So, I should suggest to him to take the test. I think it would be a good idea if Manuel sees if he's positive.

daredevil335619 No, all HIV test may give positive test after 3 weeks of exposure if the person is infected. If the test result is negative, it's considered conclusively negative if done after 3 months. conclusively negative result if done after window period of 3 months. If positive, the person should consult a doctor to confirm the diagnosis (usually done with another test)...to rule out false positive.

You said you have a boyfriend and of course neither one of you knew you had HIV, has he been check for the virus? You are one brave person to make a video on having HIV, because people think they can get it from you by just being in the same room and don't want to hang with you or people that have the virus. Thank you for sharing!!

Of course, yes he tested the very next day. He was negative. I've talked about that a lot in my videos with women rarely if ever transmitting. He'd been exposed to me for an entire year and he was HIV negative. I've seen the same scenario play out for hundreds of other HIV+ women. HIV can't penetrate skin. There has to be an open mucous membrane.

I just took this test even though I haven’t been intimate in over 2 months, but I did have a drunken scare a year ago. Got tested after 1 month with a 4th Gen test and it was negative, but then I lost my insurance and haven’t been able to test since. Always have been scared that I had it because I was randomly throwing up for about 2 months and got the flu 3 months after the fact. This test came out negative. It’s been a year and 6 months, do you think this test is accurate?? I’m still stressed! Why am I such a highly stressed individual?! Ugh. I’m worried I didn’t scrape my gums correctly!

Wow treatment for HIV has come a long way . “Undetectable viral load” while not a cure is certainly a practical “almost cure”. I remember in the late 80s, a good friend of mine committed suicide on the same day he was diagnosed HIV positive. In his farewell letter to his mother she said he wrote that he didn’t want to die an agonising death. I’m sure before 2030 the battle will finally be won with both a cure and a vaccine against HIV, and with no new victims the human HIV virus will ultimately die out and disappear.

I am so happy that you are feeling so good with the medication and impressed by the way that you take I live alone and though i do not take any risk since l live like a nun, i take the test at least once a year as a routine check up since i must be tested every six months for something else i have (hypothyroidism) and i am so glad i was fortunate to not get it. I will ensure that this remains that way. That said i can only congratulate you on you cheerful attitude about the whole thing. Your childen (by the way; your little boy is so cute) must be very proud of you.

Thanks for this video. I came across it whilst looking for HIV self test. I bought one involving blood. I agree, I wasn't waiting on the couch camly. It came negative eventually and I was stressing all day just knowing the test would be delivered in the post.
Thanks for your inspiring videos. From a "negative" experience you sound so "positive". Thank you.

I do not trust home testing kits. I had one like one year ago which scared the shit out of me. The first 10 minutes it showed just a strong C line, which means negative. Just a few minutes later I could notice like a faint line on the T zone which means positive. The line only came halfway on the T zone. Still it scared the shit out of me and it ruined my life for almost a year. Just today I decided I had enough of living in fear and maybe sth went wrong with that test. Had a test done at a doctors office for antigen and antibody which came back negative. I would not recommend this kind of tests. Just go to a doctors office

This test kit should be available locally(Kenya) but i can't seem to find it anywhere. So i ordered one from the U.S(Amazon) and it has just arrived. I'm a nervous wreck. I've been engaging in unprotected sex with a colleague for a while now(almost one year). I don't have any symptoms you described in your HIV story. Well I've had some of those symptoms before(e.g sore throat which often leads to a cold) which makes me a bit nervous(don't whether it was just a cold). I've never been this afraid. I want to be more responsible going forward so that's why i want to take the test. Pray for me or wish me well. Great content by the way and keep up the good work.

Local CVS had this exact test. I took a Xanax and drove 15 min. to CVS 44.00 yes .manager who checked me out looked a little crazy but so what. Next I got in my truck and followed the instructions while in the parking lot. Even with meds I still was nervous as heck. I covered the tube with the little square of paper. 20 min later looked at it and it came back negative. The only drawback is you have a 3 month waiting period after exposure. God bless you for having the courage to do this informational video. Sooner or later something is gonna get us health wise. Were all in the same boat.

Please explain to me if you're saying the body can fight off hiv virus and if you can ave the antibody without the virus. Thanks!

When I have taken the oral test at the county health unit (because it's free) in the past it always made me nervous because of the medical setting, their intrusive questions, and sitting there for 20min waiting. But when I took this same test at home by myself I just set my timer and go do house chores and I'm fine. Oddly watching this made me anxious because you were constantly obsessing over it and waving it around like a crazy person lol. I'm glad that you did this though and advocate testing, so many ppl probably just don't know and don't think about it. In the gay community the message for regular testing is a constant, and we all know someone with hiv, so we have no excuses.

Hello! My very first time here, another Channel Creator mentioned you, in a (CW house 4 sale). So, I came over to meet you. During my active-duty-military career, we began Mandatory testing, gee, back in 1984 or 1986? And then every year. The Navy guys would get STD, from those ports, and female company etc...Thank you for the PSA. People need to know the status they hold. Be brave. GET TESTED

@@Pozleigh I was fearful my first HIV, test. I was active duty Navy, and had relations with a few great Navy guys. And I was scared, because I know the Sailors get off the ship at the different Countries etc.....my quantity of men was low, however, I suspect two of my men had "gotten around", and back then, AIDS was this scary monster.

i think youre doing a really good thing talking about HIV/AIDs.
stigma sucks which is alot of the reason why people dont talk about it.
    its a very intriguing microbe
