Gil is definitely one of the biggest surprises for me this season. 8:26 this is among the best outs I've ever seen. Cabrera and Verdugo have been straight fire as well, they are easily Incredible tier for me. Verdugo, Cabrera and Soto are forming the next generation of this team. Keep them at all costs.
I like this list a lot, you pretty much hit everything perfectly, also respect on being straight up about some guys i know you really like and defend a lot
Volpi in Solid and Cabrera in really good is such a crime. They are having quite a similar route so far as they are hitting that well rn. but two ranks gap is hilarious
Love this analysis and I’m pretty sure I agree with every move. Obviously some guys land higher or lower in the category based on their peers. However - in the top 3 / top half (incredible, very good, good) of the 13 players only 4 are hitters! That says it all. Couple great starts to the season by just a handful, coupled with overall good-great pitching keeping us afloat, and we are in great shape in the standings. But we are losing a lot, and there are way too many consistent low performers. I think the positive spin is that probably won’t continue. Rizzo will figure it out, Volpe will find some consistency, and there’s no way Judge can be this bad for long. Wells also likely improves. Gleyber may just be bad now though. Even still I think his numbers come up some.
I would say you can’t really put the pitching stuff in this type of video because most of their losses are due to the team not being able to score runs so those that have dominated such as Cortez and Schmidt really have pitched well just not have gotten the run, support
I gotta disagree with you on Rodon. Last year doesn't color my expectations. I'm expecting him to be the Cy Young contender he was in San Fran. So for me, he's just solid
When Dominguez comes back, do you think the corresponding move would be to trade Grisham? I see no use for him going forward. Maybe the angels can use him now that Trout is gone
Cabrera has been the biggest surprise, Torres has been the biggest dissapointment. I'm not worried about Judge, he's started slow but it's not like he's not hitting at all, he'll come around.
Judge has done so much?...Has he hit in the playoffs like fuckin at all...Great Yankees are measured on the postseason and rings this generation needs to learn that.
@yankeeforcestudios5431 Great Yankee, he was the one bright spot when the Yankees Couldn't make the playoffs... When they did in his last year what did he do?.. "THIS ONE BY MATTINGLY HOLD ON TO ROOF
- Judge...so far a C+ BUT, he's getting more in a normal groove and numbers. But not yet. - Soto...A+, .300 hitter, drives in a ton of runs, clutch. Couldn't ask for more. - Gleyber...F, can't hit, can't field, zero power. Has some hits lately...BUT...I think the issue is his eyes. I think he needs glasses and NOT trying to be funny. Look at his stats. Pitches down the middle he's hitting .167. That's astonishing for a player of his calibur. And he's missing balls on the field, misjudging too pop ups. So it's his eyesight. Needs a thorough eye exam. I think that will fix him. - Nestor...solid, A-. - Stroman...solid, B+ - Rodon...B- - Gil...solid, A-. - Volpe...solid, B+ - Schmidt...solid, B+ - Cabrera...solid, A-. - Rizzo...solid, B - Verdugo...solid, B+ - Trevino...solid, B+ - Stanton...C+ - Holmes...heart attack kid but solid, A- - Weaver...solid B - Santana...solid B+ - Wells...C - Trent...not enough to give a good grade since he plays so infrequently.
Judge and Stanton should switch tiers like you said there should be some exceptions not just because Judge is my favorite player and the captain but because I sincerely don't believe Stanton is better than Judge as Judge is "Stanton 2.0" and yes I also don't like how Stanton is clogging up the lineup at DH for the next 4 years or an eternity in Yankee time
Is it just me, or do others hold their breath every time the ball is hit to left field? Soto seems uncomfortable out there. He has over-committed to uncatchable balls a couple of times and allowed the ball to get past him. He also seems uncomfortable near the wall. Aside from that great throw early in the season, he's nothing special out there. Given he's a left handed fielder, the Yanks might do better with him in left field. That's where he'll probably wind up if he signs with the Yanks, and possible as a DH, playing a similar roll as Stanton (When is Stanton's contract over?). But the Yanks want his bat in the lineup and won't risk alienating him before he signs a contract. At the price he'll demand, he's probably not worth it to the Yanks in the long run.
Gleyber is a career .264 hitter and 2 time All Star. This list lost all of its credibility when you didn’t rank him where he deserved. He’s a slow starter the same as judge. I’ll be a Gleyber fan until the day I die. We need to resign him.
Every Yankee until the end of time unfortunately has to be compared to greatness of the ‘98-‘00 squad. Anything below that is subpar and unacceptable. We’ve been stuck at 27 rings since ‘09!!
100% agree on a lot of this, but you lost the script a bit in the Really Good category. I was only barely (but not happy) okay with you knocking Los out of it (Compare him and Gil's stats, and I think you'll see they are very similar with Los with one extra game.) But once you had Ferguson in "Solid" and Hamilton in VERY GOOD, ABOVE RODON, I had to say something. That's a mess. Also, how can you right off Trevi's base stealing issue and put him in Really Good with only an 107 OPS+ but can't write off one bad Rodon start when his ERA plus is 106? They should be together, regardless of what tier it is. Rodon has been everything promised this year, minus his last start. I think recency Bias got you there.
Preface - I just saw Judge's ranking and maybe it changed by the end of the video. Judge's ranking is far too critical. At the time of the recording his OPS+ was 104 and his OAA is 1. He has been a slightly above average player. His ranking should be needs to be better or solid since that is how he stacks up to the league. For his own expectations, sure, awful is what he would tell you too.
Yup. That last line is what its all about. Relative to expectations. By the next one I do i imagine he will at the very least be in the “really good” category
@@YankeesAvenue Cool - yeah makes sense - I heard you clarify later in the video that it is all expectations based. That's what I get for commenting right away
Judge should be sent back to triple AAA. He should be ashamed of himself. He is the king of double and strike out.. doesn't even deserved to be called Captain. Seriously The Captain
I don’t care for players being judged for their performance after their first month. Many guys haven’t started seeing the ball well yet. Some are adjusting to a new swing. And some just haven’t found a rhythm yet, be it at the plate or on the mound. Praise Soto for his strong start, but will your energy change when he goes into a slump as he normally does? This is what bothers me with people that never took a cut past high school. They rarely understand the dynamics and details of the game. I would put more weight behind the criticism after the first three months of the season over judging players 30 days into a long season.
So the first month is just completely irrelevant and there is nothing to learn from it? Obviously the criticism will have more weight after more games but that doesn't mean you can't judge players for what they've done across 30 plus games against a dozen different teams.
Gil is definitely one of the biggest surprises for me this season. 8:26 this is among the best outs I've ever seen. Nice way to start the weekend w a tier list. Looking forward to going to the game tomorrow afternoon on star wars day. Thanks for the content, Dan
Love your outlook! I agree with everything you said. Nice work.
thanks man!
Rodon is not at really good

Great vid Dan! Kinda random side note, but I haven’t seen the account PACyankees in the comment sections for a while now. Wonder what’s up?
Loved the video, Dan!
I gotta mention that I went to do the tier list and there were no pictures, though. 😂
Jose Trevino batting .270!
.281 now! He's been great
You've got a great voice you could really make it talking about sports or on this channel in some way.
thank you!

希望我基今年能衝擊總冠軍,要不然再過幾年就沒希望了。
I think rizzo should be in the solid category
Cabrera would be my team mvp in season so far. Soto has been amazing but completely expected, Cabrera has been a pleasant surprise.
torres has had too many defensive errors this year.

I can’t stand gleybar useless defensively can never turn double plays and can’t hit
Love the respect, but criticizing at the same time for AJ. Respect my guy 👊
Deadline strategy needs to revolve around getting a true bullpen ace to pair with Holmes and a big infield bat if available.
agreed
I gotta disagree with you on Rodon. Last year doesn't color my expectations. I'm expecting him to be the Cy Young contender he was in San Fran. So for me, he's just solid
To me, he just sucks he's a train wreck waiting to happen every time out there, I have more faith in Gil
You missed his last 4 innings start and 6 ERs surrendered.
@@WW3_Soon No. I didn't. Every pitcher has a rough outing here and there
Judge now is good, he's been cooking lately
this is a great list
Plus for wells, he's not getting consistent at bats so I agree with him getting a pass from awful despite how his stats look
So far there on pace for third place at best, there's my two cents! I can't wait to get to Dominguez back
1 O’s
2 Rays
3 Red Sox
4 Yankees
5 Blue Jays
@@WW3_Soonrays arent making the postseason
Does anybody know what happened between Pat Hennessy and Dan?? Meaning, why they dont do their weekly recaps??
Rodon is just plain solid. That guy is paid to be a top tier rotation pitcher.
Juan Soto cannot wait until this 2024 season is over. Free agency will give him the freedom to choose to sign with either the Dodgers or Cubs.
Dodgers will not have enough money to compete against the Yankees for Soto
When Dominguez comes back, do you think the corresponding move would be to trade Grisham? I see no use for him going forward. Maybe the angels can use him now that Trout is gone
What happened to the podcasts 😞

Offense:
Soto: good.
everyone else: mediocre to bad.
Verdugo has a .800 + OPS... that's not a mediocre bat. Trevino's .270 BA isn't mediocre either for a catcher. Other than that, I agree.
He posts I watch
haha appreciate that bro
