All I can is "Thank You, God" for blessing the world with Dottie Rambo. She wrote and sang many songs in her lifetime that is STILL blessing people all over the world. Many people have rearranged and some have changed the accompaniment to "I Go To The Rock", but the words and her melody lives on!!!
WOW! I am now experiencing Dottie for the first time. We are singing this song at my church and the music director emailed us the link to this video clip. I am in love with this glorious singer/songwriter and can't wait to hear more of her joyous and heartfelt music. Thanks for the post. I am also saddened by her tragic death on Mothers Day 2008. God bless her!
When someone makes a foolish statement of "I hate when White people try to.....blah blah" or vice versa, this is a person who doesn't really know Jesus. They only know their "Black" or "White" or whatever race creed or color "church" experience. CHRISTIAN is allowing "Christ in me". I happen to be Black. Thank you Dottie for being an innovator!
dlmurphy01 God bless you brother, from here in New Zealand. You said the truth! I happen to be white. "When you really know Jesus"!! Isn't it wonderful! And we are all part of the same Family of God!
Amen. I just found out after 20 years of hearing this song sung by black folk that Dottie Rambo wrote it. I had never heard of her until tonight a church; the preacher (a white man preaching in our "black" church) mentioned her name and I came home and looked her up. So much of what I heard in gospel comes from her. She was really a blessing to the kingdom of God - all races included.
Indeed! I was working as a vocal coach with some teenagers a few years ago, and I gave them a list of vocalists of various genres to listen to in order to understand the connection between a singer's heart and the lyric's message. Dottie Rambo was the gospel artist for that list, and the kids loved her!
Dottie Rambo came to a church I use to attend some years ago, had now Idea who she was. She rocked the this mostly black church and from that time on, I said I was going to learn this song I Go To The Rock, I am a folk blues singer and I just love the Lord and how he helps me incorporate old gospels into my performances. Thank God for Dottie Rambo, I understand she wrote many good christian songs.
Dottie Rambo, you have been a tremendous blessing to my life. I grew up listening to what the Lord has given you and it's helped me out of some really tough times. I know it hasn't been an easy road for you but I just hope that serving God has been worth it all!
I enjoy her singing that i cry, what an anointing, she is in heaven singing her heart out, what a blessing. thank God for Dottie Rambo. thank you Jesus, love you Jesus.
God used Dottie Rambo in a big way to bring the gospel message to so many lost and bring cheer and comfort to so many hurting hearts, then HE called her home. We don't have to be sad, but I suppose it might be alright to envy where she is now.
I be sang this song many times but w a friend as a duet. This is the first time I ve seen a video of her singing it a definitely original take on the song as no one including myself sings it this way. Great songwriter and singer all around. All the crazy comments in here are just that, crazy. Let me just say ppl have the word, "annointed" confused. I ve sang at times that were anointed and sometimes not. To say her lifestyle caused her to not be anointed at times is seriously an ignorant state
yea I'm with you on that - what kind of respect is that to show. At least she's not down here anymore to read comments like ky2here's. She was above that anyway. An amazing woman with an amazing faith.
What do you turn to? Who do you talk to? Who do you lean on? Has everything failed you? I've got someone that's stood the test of time! He's the ROCK! He's JESUS!
It is a shame that people don’t see each other as Jesus does or love each other the way he does. I don’t see color I see another human being. I am a born again Christian , I can not wait to get to heaven where we will be what God wanted us all to be in the beginning before sin!
She sang for God. Notice the audience applause is very restrained. A Pop singer doing this same song would have all kinds of hoots and hollering. But you must give that stuff up for the Lord. I'd rather have Jesus than man's applause!
"In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Christ." (I Peter 1:6-7) When trials come and and we remain faithful we prove to the world that our faith is genuine, that nothing is going separate us from the love of Christ. (see Romans 8:35) Nothing proves our faith like suffering through difficult times, and still trusting Him to work things out for good. "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)
umm...dottie actually wrote the song and it was her song first, do your research first before making ignorant remarks. Also, it doesn't matter the skin color of someone singing gospel, its all about praising God. I'm black and I like the way she sings it just fine.
Well, Whitney Houston ruined "I will always love you". Sounded like a car alarm on that. Not sure, but Gospel music comes from the heart. It doesn't matter whether it is white or not.
Amen & Thank God it isn't a city in America! In Jesus Name, Hallelujah this world isn't my home and yet He descended from the Heavens with Angels encamped round about. Let me tell ya, there's no other Name in the Heavens and there is three of them and that's Biblical Sound Doctrine three heavens not three Jesus'! Only one bore that Crucifixion and I only stood in front of One!
I think God wants us all to sing his praises. What a comment! You do realize that Ms. Rambo wrote this song, right? If a white person made the same comment about black singers you would be truly upset. We'll pray for you.
Oh i am so glad you respond to that racist comment, because their is know room in the kingdom of heaven for racism. Jesus came to seek, and to save the lost. for God so love the world, {not black, not white}, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.(whosoever} thank you, blessing
ok, and what's your point? Dottie and Dolly both take their hat off to Whitney and respect what whitney's done with their songs. Why ya saying otherwise now? Whitney is simply the best.
Are you saved?, I love Whitney,s version also but Dottie WROTE the song. If it wasn't for her there wouldn't be either version. It is the words that makes the impact. Also race shouldn't be an issue and by the way I am black.
I know she caked-on the make-up but come-on that not right what you said. The woman died tragically and did write many great songs that touched many. At least show some respect for a dead legend by refraining from insulting her appearance... this was the south in the 80s... big hair and heavy make-up
Dottie You'll never be forgotten Thank You for your songs Now your out of your back pain Your earthly tears are ended
Dottie lives on ❤❤❤❤2024 🎉🎉
Dottie was a blessing. She is shouting on streets of gold now. We will miss you Dottie.

- Psalm 61:2 (KJV)

This song is so popular in the black churches, but I did not know Dottie wrote this one.
Yes she sure did. In 1977 ❤
This was when she could still flat down sing. Wow. Not only was she an incredible writer but the power in this voice was unmatched in our time.

God used Dottie Rambo in a big way to bring the gospel message to so many lost and bring cheer and comfort to so many hurting hearts, then HE called her home. We don't have to be sad, but I suppose it might be alright to envy where she is now.
I pray that God may bless all who read this message, And all who dont as well. God bless you all.

She looks a tad like Dixie Carter. Anyone agree?
Meade Music definitely. A little Cher too. Definitely Dixie Carter
Good

I remember when Dottie was holiness and sung this song unto God. So ssd that she sold herself out.
I guess jesus took the wheel - right into the canyon.
Are you saved?, I love Whitney,s version also but Dottie WROTE the song. If it wasn't for her there wouldn't be either version. It is the words that makes the impact. Also race shouldn't be an issue and by the way I am black.
