My late wife at the time of her passing was retired on disability. Social Security wasn't taxable at the time nor was her private pension. Of course she had to fight for three years to get any social security. My understanding is to get everything you are entitled to for disability means fight the administration in court for seven years. If you cannot afford to pay legal fees for seven years there are lawyers who work on contingency. However that won't get you the seven years. The fees will be more than the social security. So you fight as long as you can and take the best settlement you can get. In my wife's case half. She left the US to live in Canada. She didn't file taxes as she had no taxable income. In 2013 Obomacare was passed and everyone had to pay no matter how poor. But then you would have to file a tax return. Seeing as she couldn't access US medical care from Canada she didn't bother to start filing again. The SSA cut off her SS. Leaving only the private pension. She stuck to her guns. Never paid or filed anything.

Biggest lie, 400,000 and up, I’m on Social security, married and they keep telling me I’m delinquent for not filing. Ok, so when I get my paperwork from Social security it clearly states in writing I don’t meet the threshold and need not file a return! Since 2014 same result! This is concerning. I have a close friend who uses a tax lady who seems a bit shady, imho. He has to pay her in cash to do his taxes which is a red flag to me, but she supposedly does this for him as a favor and claims she has worked for a tax firm in the past. He is a truck driver and has no clue about how to do taxes, and he just blindly trusts her to take care of it. Personally, I would never trust just anyone to do my taxes, but he has been so broke he felt he just wanted to get it done as cheaply as possible. Get ahold of the tax advocate group for ur state and ask them for help getting it handled…ignoring it can quickly become way out of control and put u in a much higher percentage owed and turns it into criminal tax evasion …my ex tried ignoring it and he ended up paying in over $25,000 for an original debt of $4000….he thought they were coming after me so he intentionally didn’t pay…his mistake lol

I know someone who would receive returns, but he just doesn’t do paperwork. Years have gone by and they have never said anything to him.

In 2010, only 150 investigations got indicted out of 15'000.
Another note: So they hold on to your money for a year or more, and pay you no interest. But if you underreport, don't file, or whatever, then, not only do they charge you penalties, they hit you with UNCAPPED interest on the balance. Sounds totally fair to me.

This is concerning. I have a close friend who uses a tax lady who seems a bit shady, imho. He has to pay her in cash to do his taxes which is a red flag to me, but she supposedly does this for him as a favor and claims she has worked for a tax firm in the past. He is a truck driver and has no clue about how to do taxes, and he just blindly trusts her to take care of it. Personally, I would never trust just anyone to do my taxes, but he has been so broke he felt he just wanted to get it done as cheaply as possible. I'm going to recommend to him that he watch these videos and educate himself. Thanks for keeping us up to date and letting us know what is going on.
What "tax firm" did she work for? H&R Block, or Price Waterhouse Coopers? Big difference in the skill sets between those firms.

Nobody evades taxes. We choose to avoid them because we don’t like giving money to criminals. Flood the courtrooms with lawsuits against the IRS and the US government.
And what if you simply can’t pay them? I barely get by and every year I owe. And they just tack on more to my balance. I want to move to a job where I’m an employee, but with a tax balance, some places won’t hire you, which is what I need to be able to pay them.
Get ahold of the tax advocate group for ur state and ask them for help getting it handled…ignoring it can quickly become way out of control and put u in a much higher percentage owed and turns it into criminal tax evasion …my ex tried ignoring it and he ended up paying in over $25,000 for an original debt of $4000….he thought they were coming after me so he intentionally didn’t pay…his mistake lol

The awful thing is when your employer withholds your pay, so filing taxes is the only way to get that money back. Get rid of the IRS, income tax goes towards endless wars and corruption.

When you realize that the IRS is your friend..in other words there are SO many IRS forms that will BENEFIT you!! First start off with knowing the difference between ALL CAPS NAME & your beneficiary Name, getting an EIN #, UCC filing, your SS# is only your TRUST account....using certain forms is NOT illegal, nor is it fraud!!! Your signature has only been used as a contract, to take money from your TRUST account, for you then pay those "statements', which are/have already been paid👍 EVERYTHING is PRE-PAID!!!

I got a cp2000 letter from the IRS a YEAR ago.. for undeclared 1099 gig work after fee's penalties and interest it's about $25,000... when will I hear more?? It's been a year?? BTW I've been on SSDI about 10 years
Get ahold of tax advocates in ur state to help u figure it out and get payment arrangements made so they don’t take ur ssdi….,they don’t care ,…they will take every last penny u get via the bank account

They also have the right of hardship to not file and after 10 years if they claim no refund they will declare the hardship is valid. But you have to have reasons for the hardship i.e. poverty. No one is going to file with breaches and attempt to amend breaches later that makes you culpable to fraud itself.

You won’t get a cp59 if you filed. Doesn’t mean they won’t audit you at some point but cp59s are only for non filers.

Someone used my daughter’s ss#, different name and different date of birth to file for Obama care. IRS reject her tax return and refuse to give her refund. It’s 4 months and the Market Place (Obamacare) is still investigating and refused to give her a letter to send to the IRS so they can release her money! I payed $32,000 in payroll state and Fed and still owed $1800.
Like the $600 paypal nonsense. Just grasping for dollars.
