It was a lot of fun. The 8 year quest to win that first Champions League (between 2004 to 2012) was the greatest football story I've ever seen & can guarantee I ever will see. So many near misses - "ghost" goals, penalty slips, refs screwing us - the culture clash rivalries with Liverpool & Barcelona, having a consistent spine throughout that entire run. It was so narratively rich in so many ways. Becoming a Chelsea fan was the best decision I've ever made in my life. This club has given me so many positive memories & has NEVER failed to entertain me. Even in 2003 itself, going from a club that was one game away from facing legitimate extinction (or at least radical change), to the richest club in the world being linked with a different global superstar every day in the space of one summer is something no other club's fans can claim to have experienced. Was an unbelievable rush living through that as a teenager. Regardless of what happens to us in the future, I couldn't be more grateful to this club for the impact it's had on my life.
Honestly I think we have a slight advantage because we don’t have the CL games to worry about. We are playing those conference league games and although there is a lot of travelling involved we are able to play a squad that is only able to make the bench for those games. So I think the likes of Liverpool will run out of steam quicker than we do. We are under a lot less pressure aswell
true that. but the new owners are runnign it into the ground with the amoutn they spend. roman writes off a 1.5 billion debt for the club and the new owner putt he club into 1 billion debt in less then 5 years like.
Talking about the women's team would have made this video even better, the success we have had under that for the last 7 years is immense. But still a great video. Up the chels!
In my opinion Chelsea problems started when New owners took over, not when Potter arrived. Abramovich would never sign coach like Potter. He’s already made a mistake and learn a lesson after signing Villas Boas
Fernando Torres played an important part in a champions league and a europa league win. Absolutely not a failure. Sure he wasn't the player he was for liverpool but he popped up in more important moments than he gets credit for.
I’m with Ollie here. Another important inclusion would have been Glenn Hoddle’s managerial reign after forcing to sell our starlets and home grown players off to pay for the stadium, it was Glen in the early 90’s who implemented a play style and identity for the club, in turn with that and his reputation the ability to bring in players like Zola and Vialli that set Chelsea in their way. He layewas d the Morden groundwork of the culture and ambition of the club built on in the latter years
What’s apparent to me is that we (Chelsea) have repeated the same process multiple times, of which we are going through right now. We will come through it like we have before, with some patience 💙
@@YourFootballZoneI dislike how they’ve gone about selling academy players and how quick they’re changing the structure as it’s caused a lot of problems, mainly to the fan base. However, from what I understand, the hope is that it’s short term pain and long term gain (regarding underachieving) and that we will have a structure similar Dortmund signing young talent and selling for good profit. I think they’ve made some very smart signings (and questionable ones I.e. Aubameyang/Sterling),but ultimately they have had to make profits out of the academy. Sounds ‘dirty’ and ‘cold’, but ultimately that’s how successful clubs stay successful is by rationale rather than emotions. The controversy and inconsistency of performances is exhausting (no really) but, ultimately, I think we’re going in the right direction.
At the finish of the season, even fans wouldn't believe Chelsea to finish APL on the top fours, which I've realized this after reading all the comments of this content. Either no sparks on eyes of fans or some hope-disappearance for these positions generally might be followed by the condition of the club at the initial times in 2024-25, I think. @@YourFootballZone I can only see this team getting better. Young players starting to mature, a young manager with a beautiful style of play. Trophies or no trophies, Chelsea as a club and as a fanbase are winning *right now*
2 Champions League trophies, both are special because: 2011/12 - if you look at squad, crucial players were aging (Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Terry all had 30+ years of age), season wasn't very promising especially after that start in Premier League season, coaches were not world class like before during Mourinho, Ancelotti and Ranieri, but they were coaches that need to prove themselves, with Di Matteo having no experience at all in coaching, but you see opponents like Guardiola's Barcelona and Heyckens Bayern, both were best teams in the world. 3 games, I had no expectations at all, I hoped that we go through and win it, but I think that both teams were better than us, in all 3 games in semifinals and in the final. We had luck but we won! 2020/21 - Similar start of the season, 8th place in January, drawn against Atletico and Lampard as coach, I gave up, we are not playing CL next season. Then from nowhere came Tuchel and beat Tottenham and Liverpool away, Atletico away and then knocked out Atletico in Stamford Bridge. After those games, I had hope back. We managed to play FA Cup and Champions League final, like in 2012. We lost FA Cup to Leicester, but I don't know why I was so confident in that Chelsea team, probably because we beat them 2 times in May. Really incredible achievements, hopefully Maresca brings Conference League this season and then 3rd one from CL next season in Stamford Bridge! Good luck Chelsea!
