    Lately i have been getting flashes of my mistakes in meditation. I have made it a practice to forgive myself for my actions and offer them to divine Mother. Thank you. I was raised in an african derived tradition where trance states are key to the apiritual experience of the religion. It has been great aid as i am able to get into trance before i even start the techniques. Now i have been having very slow breath and when i look at people and things i see them as made of light even with eyes closed sometimes.

    Just wanted to drop a thank you for this particular topic, of which I was completely unaware. I had never heard this phrase before, but it was a perfect description for one of my personal stumbling blocks.
    2023 was quite a year, and I am grateful to have read your book and watched your videos. Incorporating (or perhaps observing) the proofs/essentials brought great richness to my practice, and indeed helped with consistency of outcomes. The idea of training yogic skill (and the milestones on that path) has really resonated. 🔔🌟
    Your Friday vids have been an extra bonus going into the weekend. Thank you for the abundance of weekly work you do, your diligence and patience in finishing this book for us, and very happy new year man.

      Yes, I'm fairly new to spiritual exploration (about 4 yrs) and very new to this wonderful channel but I've always felt that purposely trying to kill off or suppress a part of yourself...your humanness is not the way to go, not for me.

      Refreshing right! Vedanta, Sankhya and true Yogic teachers who deleniate these teachings into experience do not believe in ego death. They teach that using the proper techniques with surrender you can surmount the sense of self in deep states after long immersive concentration, which happens spontanseously. Ego death and killing the ego is a non-sense New Age practice that is quite destructive and dangerous. Great comment!

    • @anneducoudray2720

      @@blueclarity No it's not the way period. the ego is our capacity to reflect, be aware, be the observant of this life experience. It's a tool, a very useful performant tool.

    Thank you for the information and guidance. I experience stone samadi most of the time. I thought I have to be in that kind of state but thankfully I now know that is not the case. I don't have a guru to guide me because of my situation and place so I just watch UA-cam video and try to learn. Thank you for your guidance 🙂.

    Thank you for this. I experienced this today after reaching the pratyahara state, my body had a tingling vibration, and I noticed that it would cut out just for a split second and I would lose consciousness, then regain it (along with the vibration), this would repeat every 10 seconds or so.

    I think when my subconscious material pops up is when I'm feeling all this tension. And I mean I let it do its thing but it's a pretty intense and weird feeling. Literally feels like something is pulling my muscles apart. I would actually refer somebody to one of Alex Gray's paintings to see what I'm talking about, and now that I said that that's probably what the painting is actually about. Never would have even thought that before but a lot of his artwork is about awakening.
    But he has one that has all the anatomy of the human body and it's exploding basically and rearranging

    Yes it's kind of what I run into. They say they know and it's very clear. They don't pretty quickly. And then it's a big secret of the ones that do them. I got to be honest I don't really look favorably on that. But I guess that's the decision and I do understand what the some extent. Some of these practices can be very serious. But I can't even explain to you how POD I'd be if I was about 70 and I had been at an ashram meditating for the past 40 years. Unable to really do what I wanted to. And then somebody like you comes along and tells me just to drop my breath rate. And then all sorts of things start happening. Yeah Id be a little pissed and a little gyped. And I say this because I see that that's happened to quite a few people.
    I run into this the most talking about Cumbria you need though. The response I normally get as basically that of yeah right it couldn't be happening to you, especially without even practicing it beforehand. Beforehand. That's normally my Indian brothers that have the whole practice on a pedestal. And I usually tell them that well, if you have it on a pedestal then it's probably going to be harder to achieve. And I do not have it on a pedestal . But if you believe it's going to take your lifetime to achieve some of these things then it's very likely it will.
    And then the other one I run into is somebody who is equating their experiences to it yet really aren't necessarily that. Maybe they are and I'm not really in the place to say but so far off from my experience that I guess it just doesn't seem like it. But I'm very wary about that because there's a lot of let's choose our own fantasy and follow something and conform. And then there's a lot of praying on people going through spiritual awakenings because they've never been more vulnerable in their lifetime. Which is a pretty low blow for sure, but I see that it's extremely common

    In some yogic traditions they are calling this state mūrchā which basically means "He slipped into unconsciousness." I guess that´s why is always recommended to go meditate while we are not too tired of before sleep to avoid slipping into that state...

    I guess stone samadhi is a state where the body is in sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is horrifying😣. However breathing very slow with many pauses helps keep me self aware(it happens naturally 30 seconds after I begin meditating). Now I'm just enjoying this breathing in each meditation, it keeps me awake. I noticed a different breathing pattern when falling asleep too. So I'm vigilant with my breathing. I also noticed that I'm becoming more aware of inner sounds. When it's quiet, I always hear a deep vibration from within. I hope I get a samadhi experience this year. I pray it's not stone samadhi though 😅 Thanks for the heads-up Mr. Forrest, I really appreciate it 🙏

    Hey Forrest. I just recently started doing Kriya Yoga and would appreciate some insight. Coincidentally, after having a few 'energetic experiences' while doing ujayii pranayama, om japa, and kriya pranayama, my mind has been stilled quite significantly, especially when I am around other people. Usually I would experience low to mid feelings of anxiety/panic, compulsive judgement, etc but since Kriya my mind has stilled 90%. I also feel my spine a lot more than usual. It almost feels like I am a puppet on strings, where my spine has been concreted into the present moment. Suffice to say, it has had an amazing effect on me so far. But why is this? Were my chakras which correspond to relationships blocked or something? Is there anything I should pay particular attention to e.g. a certain chakra while doing om japa? I am very grateful for this experience and at the same time I am rather cautious in becoming attached because I know it's very possibly this "stilling" of the mind is temporary. Any insight about this would be greatly appreciated.

      That's wonderful, Tom. Yes, you cleared some of your psyche, and now you're feeling the shift in your personality. Beautiful! OM in the six chakras that I mention is the way to go. Coccyx to medulla and back again. The lower 3, and the 3rd in particular are especially important.

      I haven't seen it on a monitor but I would guess that it would have the slower brain waves and some of the gamma brain waves at the same time but the beta brain wave would be almost non-existent because you have fallen into an unconscious state. And that's the thing that you're not getting the benefit by being awake. Great question! 🙏🙏

    Is one “conscious“ in all samadhi? All different samadhi states? All advanced states?
    I ask because a guru has said that he is unaware when he goes into a deep absorption state, and it is only when he returns he knows he was in advanced samadhi because the people around him tell him of the happenings that occurred.
    (Edited to correct spelling.)

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  3 роки тому +1

      In Absorption, we loose words, and time, sense of the body, and sense of the breath. The body will go into a Freeze Response, which is very akin to sleep paralysis. However, we shouldn't lose awareness. That awareness will shift focus, and gain a Oneness with certain deep things. However, it shouldn't go to sleep.

    Hi Forrest , thank for this video , nice as always. I just wanted to add that it's not true that you are completely unaware while in stone samadhi , at the initial stages at least you are not , it is actually a golden chance to project your energetic body outside your physical one and astral project. But yes , if one doesnt even choose to do that but simply let the sleepiness take control then one is unaware and uncoscious as you said. Have you ever had an experience with astral projection? would love to hear that

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you, that's a great addition. You're talking about the moment before the loss of consciousness happens, when you're able to still make a conscious decision. It is a great place so long as you keep the awareness. ;) Yes, I've actually taught it to one of my students going into samadhi. In that state we lose both perceptions of the body, so it's an interesting step back to add the astral form.

      @@ForrestKnutson hey could you elaborate on this or point to a book/source that points in this general direction? I find it so much easier to induce Stone Samadhi as compared to the regular Kundalini; this might be away to circumvent this draw back. I've read through the AP books and watched the videos on YT recommended by the AP subreddit/Facebook group and all of them point to AP using sleep deprivation/REM sleep (not healthy IMHO). Forrest, how would stone samadhi relate to sabikalpa samadhi? I recall you lose your sense of self and all conscious of the outer world in sabikalpa (also spelled savikalpa).

    • @chimpta
      @chimpta 3 роки тому

      Kanta I think what you are describing might be nirvikalpa samadhi and I also have the same question.

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  3 роки тому +1

      That's the misnomer. So, you lose the words, you lose the sense of the body, you lose the sense of time, you lose the body image of yourself, but you don't lose your awareness. ... In sabikalpa you still have reasoning and reflection, and so you ask yourself, "is this the samadhi I've been searching for, for so long?" and then that line of questioning dumps you out of the experience, lol! ... In nirvikalpa you lose reasoning and reflection, as well. BUT YOUR AWARENESS REMAINS. So, that's the big point. Awareness remains, or there would be no experience.

  • @carpenterfamily6198

    I would agree that loosing your sense ( awareness) of your own identity during deep meditation is not good. But I wouldn’t identify my self as ego, because you are not your ego. You have an ego but that’s not your essence.
    Teachers, such as Eckhart Tolle, point out that letting your ego run the real you about isn’t desirable, isn’t true.
    So while I do agree to not loose ones sense of identity during meditation, I wouldn’t misunderstand that to mean that the ego is me and that it should be allowed to go on with its undesirable unconscious harmful behavior. I feel my expression of this idea is incomplete, but I can’t put my finger on why.
    ( IMHO, from someone who knows so littke that it is immeasurable 🙂 )

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  3 роки тому

      Yes, it is the awareness that survives. The words, and the sense of body, the sense of breath, time, all disappear. So, what we may have thought we are drops away in samadhi.

    Anyways, just have a question, do you think is there a junkie aspect to this blissful feeling, that it could get detrimental and should be limited to some extent? Is there a set limit to do HRV/Meditation throughout the day? I mean I enjoy it a lot, and do it almost all the time. If it does, put your mind on your whole body at once, and hold that perception. ... Generally, it is super beneficial for us, as it completely wipes the psyche clear, and makes Absorption easier and easier to attain. The personality transformation is tremendous. Just give yourself time to integrate it.
