Making an Atmospheric Drum 'n' Bass Tune
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лют 2024
- In this video I make a ‘95-style atmospheric drum 'n' bass tune with rolling breakbeats, 808 sub bass, and lush pads.
I often see people who wanted to see the full process of making a track, so this video is basically unedited and shows the bits of making a tune you don’t tend to see including making mistakes, having bad ideas, and problem solving.
Contrary to what it says in the video I'm currently unable to offer one-to-one tuition! :( Hopefully I'll be able to get back to this at some point.

Really good video man. I learned a lot
Hi Tim, I don’t know if you’ll see this comment but I’ve been struggling to make drum and bass for months now. Not even half way through your video and the ideas came flowing! I stayed up until 5am working on a track (including arrangement) now I have a 9 min D&B banger in my hands all thanks to you! Keep up the great work, my friend.
I struggled to make DnB for years and I know how frustrating it can be, thanks so much for letting me know I helped :)
My takeaway is the cheerful attitude and genuine delight when little tweaks work out or happy accidents occur. My process for some reason features more frustration and self doubt. 😅
“Thank heavens for small mercies” is my motto when making music 😆 hang in there buddy I’ve been making tunes for thirty years and I assure you I’ve experienced at least as much frustration and self-doubt!

The commentary is funny AF 🤣
Thanks Tim, your process is very helpful and your candour vibe reminds me the most important thing is to let the fun flow, much appreciated :)
Turns out Tim can
learning so much from these thanks geez
Another cracking video Tim, some great bits and pieces to take away and apply to future projects. 👊🏻🔥

Great video and great work :) would you ever consider making a video like this for an acid house track?
Impressive
Music production assistance? Can I just pay to have you around for good vibes?
Great track mate. I want to thank you for your other videos too. Such a comprehensive breakdown of the genre gave me enough motivation to dabble in DnB again after giving it a wide berth for a while, so thanks for that.
big up
Everyone knows it's mandated by law to use a loon sample and not just some random bird. Had no choice but to notify the rave police, sorry.
I know you’re joking but I already did a tune with the loon sample 🙈🙈🙈 ua-cam.com/video/2-xm3z_wufg/v-deo.htmlsi=HHxo7lykLf2DAsIp
@@TimCant I'm sorry dude but you'll have to explain it to the dancehall judge.
Great video, and track (both of them really).
@@gearwatcher I throw myself on the mercy of the court 😭😭😭😭
This video really gave me the confidence I needed to make my first dnb song, watching the whole process just stopped me being worried about the way I was doing things. Only thing is, I've done some googling and I really can't find the answer, is there anyway to cut and chop audio looks like Tim does in the video with his break but on FL studio? The only way I've been able find to do it is with sampleX, but I think seeing the waveforms as opposed to the markers would make a lot more sense to me. Other than that cheers for the video Tim :)
Excellent work mate. Really good. Where did the samples come from?
I am at the Roadhouse sample bit and I have to say, much like the film, that is sublime. "Dalton's Theme" is coming along nicely! (I know the sample isn't from Dalton, but I'm hoping in the 2nd half of the tune you drape a few choice Dalton soundbites over the tune.
Remember, be nice!!! 😁
This is why I could never make music. I'd turn everything into a daft novelty tune just to make myself laugh.
@@ians691 Unfortunately for me I don't have a choice because I got chucked out of cooler school for being too buff and too zen :(
Really nice song Tim you gonna release it? 😎
Really great video Tim, any chance you have more info on the old Aquasky sample pack from CM? do you know by any chance what year / issue is that from? Thanks!
Bukem vibes
Delay, yesss
